I have to say I really like her blog and the normalness and wearability of everything (I'm talking about styles, not labels). I'm in the minority here but I think her husband is a good lookin guy, they make a good lookin couple.

She was listed as one of CNN's "Style Bloggers to Follow"- http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/20/living/nyfw-fashion-bloggers/index.html?hpt=hp_bn11

Her little blurb is pretty funny, mostly because I consider her blog as a "dream blog" because I could never dream to have the type of clothes that she has and shop where she shops. She's listed under "Budget Fashion"

Gal Meets Glam: Glam isn't about sipping champagne, wearing designer items or strolling through the streets of Paris, Julia Engel says on her blog. "I believe every gal can add a little glam to her life with small things," be it red lipstick, leopard pumps or a rhinestone necklace.

The caption on her photo reads:

On Gal Meets Glam, San Francisco-based blogger Julia Engel not only shares looks but also tells readerswhere to find high-fashion brands on sale and provides cost-effective but similar-looking alternatives. She also creates step-by-step video tutorials on how to up your beauty game.

She used to be more budget-concious, in the early days (pre-wedding).

She's a beautiful girl, and I think she actually has good style.

Wow, I love both of these. I love that he is so proactive in her blog. She is fairly inoffensive so I definitely have no reason to snark.

In the interview he noted that he doesn't currently have a job. I wonder if her huge push towards gaining sponsors (Old Navy, Clorox, and others) have come as a result of that. Obviously they're not hurting for cash by ANY means, but it could be a factor in that. Plus he also mentioned that she's blogging full-time; previously she had mentioned side projects.

eyerolleyerolleyerolleyeroll i'm sure he can get a job in the firewood/pencil empire at any time if the trust fund /family stipend isn't cutting it for them.

I think she's okay. But the laid back tone of her husband about not having the job at the moment is because his family is faareeking rich! and that's what I "hate" about them. i saw her old videos too, she used to shop from Lulus.com. And I get her, I really do. If my husband were rich, id blog full time too.

Family finances/privilege aside, I think she knows how to dress her body and how to mix and match trends with classic (albeit ridiculously expensive) pieces. I actually look at her blog and get ideas for what I can wear from my own closet, as well as the kind of knock-offs I want to shop for. And no, there's not a whole lot of substance or groundbreaking content in GMG, but Julia is very professional, and I think Thomas takes great pictures of her.

No complaints here… just good-natured jealousy! I'd love to have that girl's closet.

I think that well-off parents supporting their kids for awhile post-grad school is the thing today. My parents certainly aren't millionaires, but they're very well-off. I know that they'd rather help me out for a little while after grad school so I have some flexibility to get a decent job in my home city versus not helping me out and me being forced to move to bumf**k Idaho because it's the first job I get offered.

Of course, his family could easily support them forever. But if he's interested in some sort of start-up, it makes sense.

I meant more time-wise. Now he doesn't have school, and if he doesn't have a job, he could need something to do. So, he's into the business aspect of the blog and pushing for sponsors.
