I totally agree. Who is her audience? Does anyone truly eat like that?

Ugh. So sick of Pioneer Woman wanna-be's. Too many pictures, with try-hard cutesy dialogue. Do these dorks get some sort of pay for every damn picture, or something? There are seven nearly exact pictures of guacamole in a bowl. So groundbreaking!

Yeesh. There are free apps where you can make a collage with your photos so you don't disrupt the flow of the post with another huge picture of the same setup as the other six photos. Have no more than two photos of the final result and a couple of pictures of the how-to and stitch them together. Especially since the content space is so small.

And the try-hard PW-esque writing is obnoxious. Imitation is not going to ensure you the same sort of success. Develop your own voice. Personally, I won't read somebody's blog if they're trying too hard to sound like somebody else because it makes me think their content is in imitation as well and there's nothing new or original to inspire me to try.

The overly simple recipes annoy me, too. Why do you feel the Internet needs yet another guacamole recipe? Why does HBH have a whole post dedicated to just guacamole? You've done nothing new with guacamole and it's usually used as a condiment, so why not add the guacamole recipe to another post with an actual entrée? You're not under a one-recipe-per-post rule, are you?

And people do realize that Mexican cuisine is a huge world, right? A long, rich history in a large country with many different regions and influences. Every blogger who does a Mexican theme does the same ten recipes. If the cuisine was so small, Rick Bayless really wouldn't have a career, would he?

Yes, yes, yes, and YES! She is a huge, obnoxious, seemingly unapologetic copycat of How Sweet Eats. Seriously… HSW posts Pomegranate Thai Chicken, the next day/week/whatever HBH posts Pomegranate Thai Chicken Enchiladas. It's so strange, shouldn't that be illegal or something? It just makes me uncomfortable and on top of that, she's blown up! She's all over the place, tens of thousands of followers, and you know she's cleaning house on ad revenue with ideas that aren't even hers! sangry

It's actually mindblowing how many of her recipes are derivatives of / combinations of previous How Sweet Eats recipes.

It's astounding how a number of new food bloggers have achieved the same level or close to the same level of success as the bloggers they copy, in less than a year.  It's also astounding that the bloggers who are copied worked years to hit that point and not only ignore it, but continue to promote them. Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but I wonder how they'd feel if said copycat surpassed their level of success? HBH is making a crapton of money, and I'm sure a book deal will be announced soon.

In addition, I think she was some kind of genius kid since she mentioned in a post that she did the 'college thing' years ago (or something to that effect), and she just turned 20. Plagiarism be damned!

It really is crazy how fast she's blown up…I think the same thing about Sally (from Sally's Baking Addiction.) Just blogging a year, with hundreds of thousands of followers…it's weird. Especially since I don't think their pictures are all that great (not terrible, just not amazing) and the recipes are kind of crap. I guess they're laughing all the way to the bank, though, because people eat this stuff up. Just hopefully not literally.

In her recipe for tortilla-chip coated, oven-fried spinach-and-chorizo ravioli with fontina cheese queso, she keeps misspelling the name of the Mexican cheese she's recommending everyone use. It's not cojita/cajita, it's Cotija. I don't know why something so small bothers me so much, but it does.

Also, why do all of these bloggers have recipes that use all the ingredients ever?

Cinnamon Brioche Chocolate Chip French Toast Muffins with Coconut Streusel

That is about 10x the flavors that I need in a breakfast dish.

I get that they probably cram all of the ingredient names into the title so that it adds SEO value, but some of them just don't sound all that appealing.

Roasted Pumpkin Chipotle Cheddar Tots with Avocado Blue Cheese Ranch

Jalapeño Cheddar Cornbread Pancakes with Roasted Blueberry Honey Syrup

and on and on.

Found this shocking, so I looked it up. She graduated from Colorado Mountain College, whatever the hell that is. Google says it's some two-year college. Let's not confuse her with someone who graduated summa cum laude from Harvard.

Based on her constant spelling and grammar errors, I'm going to go ahead and say she's no genius.

i'm happy someone else noticed the cojita/cotija thing. I googled it when I saw her typo, thinking I must have been crazy… surely someone using this blog as their JOB would be on that. (AND ISN'T IT ON THE PACKAGE THAT YOU MUST BE STARING AT FOR HOURS?!)

HSE is a love/hate read for me, but I really get mad for her when I see HBH. I follow HSE on IG and she posted a snapshot of a recipe she was working on (to be on the blog later) and not a day or two later did HBH post a recipe that looked exactly like HSE instagram photo… that HSE hadn't even had a chance to post yet! I know she does her own irritating things, but seriously?! Somebody go to Colorado and slap that girl! GAH!

And she's awfully whiney for a 20-something.
