Does anyone else think it's ironic that she had an entire podcast devoted to being self confident when she is one of the most insecure people on the planet?

She has zero tolerance for even constructive criticism. She is fortunate she works for herself because in any other career, you are given reviews where your performance is assessed and there are things you need to work on. Often it's how you get better at what you do.

As a consumers of her content, her readers' opinions matter. Not everyone who has something to criticize is a "hater". The readers are the ones that buy her books and give her page views. So, if someone mentions to "not yawn so much",or "not b***h about your readers so much", or not talk baby talk to your dog during a podcast, perhaps they are trying to tell you something constructive.

She literally cannot handle any of it. She asks for only good reviews to be posted and basically tells people who have criticism to f**k off. #superconfident

I completely agree. I cannot believe that this thread is full of people that find her more tolerable on her podcast. She is disturbed. Very disordered. She throws food out. Designs her social life around avoiding food and alcohol. Talks about how she hides the fact that she isn't eating and drinking what others are. Discusses how much time and money she spends on her face and clothes. She is the most vapid, shallow person that I have ever heard of, but I guess the bar must be so low….perhaps people on GOMI know people like this IRL. In which case, I feel very sad. But I walked away after listening to 5 of her podcasts thinking that she is the saddest, most insecure 28 year old I have ever heard. And she jumps on every opportunity to criticise people who don't live the same life as her that she can. She, by her own admission, missed hanging out with her future husband because she left her own f**king birthday party to work out. She refuses to do crossfit workouts that she thinks will build muscle because she feels she won't look as good in her shitty as clothes as she does (?) normally. She is, in short, the saddest, most vapid and shallow person I have ever had the "privilege" of hearing speak.

ETA: she also manages to travel without experiencing other cultures or growing as a person. It's a special skill to be that narrowly focused on oneself, but Juli manages to be the most inwardly focused traveller on the internet, spending her days of travel not on experiencing other cultures and interacting with people, but on hanging out in a bikini and working out. Truly remarkable stuff.

She also constantly talks about "working" 7 days a week. I would love to see her explain this version of "working" to an actual working person "so I, like, post free recipes on the internet. They are pretty much like every other recipe online. BUT! I also, like, post pictures of myself in new outfits, like, every day. And I tell people how to stay skinny. It's, like, really tough. I have to make a lot of sacrifices. You know, like my dignity and any sort of notion that I might be intelligent, cuz, like, I have to write stuff on the interwebz about stuff I eat and wear so, like, people can be like me. I'm an entrepreneur!" hammer

I hate how she constantly yammers on about posting free content. "I posted a free workout today!" "I've posted so many FREE recipes this month." B***h, that's your job, straight up. If people didn't check out your free workouts and recipes, you wouldn't have a job. You should be thanking these people, not b***hing them out constantly. I feel like I've said this before on this thread and I don't really want to generalize because there are some exceptions but she is SUCHHHH an only child. The worst example of one.

IMO, and i could be wrong, but I think she is very obsessed with her appearance because she's seen a positive correlation between looking a certain way and getting attention. I think it sounds like she was kind of plain and unassuming until she started losing weight and now she feels internal insecurity about maintaining a certain appearance. I don't think this is a unique story and while it seems shallow on the surface, is probably symptomatic of deeper BDD and previous rejection from people. I've often wondered if her husband views Juli as a trophy wife so she feels like she has to stay thin and well kept for him to stay interested.

I can't believe she got permanent eyeliner though.

smiley-signs064 to the above. I mean, I am all for people doing whatever makes them happy but I cringed when she said that she thinks everyone should be seeing an aesthetician. I remember when she used to complain about difficulty finding pants when she was more muscular, but now she comes across as more insecure than she was before. Her world seems very small, and that makes me sad.

Also, this is BEC but I find it super annoying that everything is "inspiration!" "I follow these people on instagram and they're so inspiring, and when they post workouts I use those as inspiration to post my own!" Yes, seeing what other fitness people post so you can generate similar content is inspiring.

Agree with the "everyone must see an esthetician" comments. It's fine if it works for you Juli, but thousands of dollars to endure extremely painful laser treatments when you are only 28, is actually not something everyone should do. Learning a little self acceptance is. I actually think I have pretty great skin (I'm 35) and I went to an esthetician a few months ago, and you know what I left with? Insecurity. She pointed out dark spots and lines I had never noticed or cared about and it created a complex I didn't have before. I've moved on from it now and I feel better not going and looking for things to "work on". Wear sunscreen. That was the best tip she gave me.

I also completely disagree with her repeated comparison of skin treatments to going to the gym. They do not equate.

I am a little surprised at how much she has had done, especially for the region she is in.  I live in the same city and am the same age and I can't imagine doing half of the stuff she does.  Granted, I feel I am pretty low maintenance and only just got my very first facial last year, but still…CO is pretty low key.  She had her eyebrows microbladed bc she didn't like the way she looked at the gym?!  WTF??  I feel more self-conscious when I am wearing makeup at the gym.  I can see her fitting in in Cherry Creek…with all the cougars…but that's about it.

Girl, she'd have to give up the crossfit, cheap and overly revealing clothing, and 2012-esque bacon obsession to fit in there- those Wunder Under-clad women are way less bro-y than the personification of the View House on Friday night that is Juli. The less you do to the face and simpler you keep your routine, the better you'll look overall. I feel badly for her because she is so insecure and compounding her decisions with more overkill. I just hope she holds off on the fillers for as long as possible because that's always the breaking point (*cough* Lauren Graham *cough*).

Pardon my overuse of adjectives, I realize this reads like a 9th grade english paper but I'm having a lot of fun with it. drunk

But I Am Le Tired ha ha I enjoyed that!  You are right, she is much more of a bro-type LoDo scene than Cherry Creek.

Wowza! I missed that she got permanent eyeliner. Juli just makes me sad… I've talked on here before how I follow a paleo/W30 diet most of the time, but I live my life! I'm not going to miss my own birthday party to work out! This is craziness. I am also 28 and cannot imagine having all the cosmetic work done that she has! Microblading, chemical peels, dermaplane, permanent eyeliner?! Too much. Very sad that she feels like she has to do all of those things to feel confident and her best.

Speaking of criticism, is there some reason she can't allocate some funds from her tattoo make up account into getting a professional graphic designer or videographer? Her low budget struggle food videos are awful.

I've been following her on IG for awhile now (she's never bothered me, just another paleo account where I can find recipes). I've always thought her food pics resembled dog food but again, she's never irritated me really…until I followed her on snapchat. WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!?!?!? She's so negative, seems like she has a reallly bad attitude, but why?  She seems like she has a good life. I don't get people who think acting that way is cute or badass or whatever. It's lame.

I listened to her podcast about her beauty routine.  It's pretty aggressive for her age IMO.  Like something I'd expect from a Real Housewife of any city but not at 28.  If she has a lot of fine wrinkles at that age could be hereditary and maybe she is trying to be proactive or just sun damage.  I know being lean can make you look older also.  I mean they call it diet face for a reason.
