I love the pie near woman site. The crazy looking dolls give it that extra edge for me.

She's posted that they are paid to take care of them. It must be an amazing site to see those wild horses actually out in the wild. Pretty soon they will just be another extinct creature.

Wild horses aren't endangered, and they're not even native to the US. Whatever.

Yeah, most of the wild horses in the US are actually more like feral horses. And they're a big nuisance for a lot of farmers/ranchers/Western dwellers. There is some confusion between real herds of Mustangs and the feral swamp ponies trolling around the West.

I do hate how the BLM has historically dealt with feral horses – dog food, basically. Now the auctions they have and paying people like PW to maintain herds is much better.

I disagree about them not being "native" to the US. Originally yes, horses were introduced by the Spanish (after all native American horses died out in prehistory). But feral horses and Mustangs have been a fixture of the American West for so long, they really are a feature of the collective psyche there.

Although a lot of Western people I know think of them as similar to really big raccoons, LOL.

Many of her recipes remind me of the ones in the church fundraiser cookbooks my grandma used to love. Most of her food is not my style and I can't with her eleventy billion pictures per post; however, I can't hate on her success, funded by family money or not. She (or whoever) grew that website like a pro.

PW is an excellent guideline on how to conduct yourself once you reach a certain level. The woman has her haters but does she ever acknowledge them? It's all sunshine and Marlboro Man and y'all! I can't ever recall seeing or hearing about her doing something like rallying her twitter army or anything like that. Who knows what she does in private but she knows what to do in public.

I think the PW snark blogs can be obsessive and over-the-top sometimes, but these guest posts are some of the best pieces of writing I've ever encountered on a snark blog:
http://www.thepioneerwomansux.com/2011/07/bury-my-cabbage-at-wounded-knee/

And its sequel:
http://www.thepioneerwomansux.com/2011/08/how-to-get-rid-of-escalloped-cabbage-in-100-easy-steps/

Oh, I died laughing reading that cabbage post! Hahaha!

That's probably because most of her recipes do come from church cookbooks, or so her biggest critics say.

I've been reading her for a while. I don't necessarily love her, but I like her. I never got the idea she was trying to present herself as struggling, at least not financially. And the idea that she has help at home makes sense. I think most reasonable people who read her blog or watch her show can figure out you don't have two houses and that kind of money without help.

Like someone else mentioned, she manages to completely avoid the "haters" on her site, doesn't acknowledge them, and I think that works. She's at least giving the impression she doesn't care, instead of getting involved in heated battles in her comments.

TL;DR – I'm not trying to WK, I just kind of like her. Don't "get" the hate from some. Just me.

That's because her millions of adoring, obsessed fans, who idolize her to the point where it's a little cray cray, do it for her.  Any site that writes anything negative about her gets at least 5 of them, freaking out like maniacs.  Some of the things they say are far worse than anything said site wrote about Ann Marie (her real name).

Wow I had no idea. I also just found out her husband's name was Lad? I used to read PW just for the recipes (some aren't that bad) and she always called him Marlboro Man, I assumed to "protect" his identity or whatever…but she says it on her (terrible) cooking show, so now I'm just confused.

Yeah, I think she's Ann Marie too. I think it was her brother, who has developmental disabilities, who said her name wrong when he was little or something?

I just can't hate on PW. Yes, I'm a WK. Her recipes aren't the most healthy, but she makes no claims on being a "healthy blog!" I don't know…guess there's plenty to snark on about her, but I just can't! I've drunk the PW kool-aid!
