People like this lady make me sad.  They make me sad as a lady.  Hell, they make me sad as a Christian.  I just feel like fundies are taught that you can only be a Christian (or insert major religion of your choice here; it applies unilaterally) if you follow this long list of rules and bow completely to your father/husband's will.  Jesus Christ.  Literally.  Jesus Christ probably would like you to escape, young Olivia.

I mean, she'll probably make millions with her company and laugh herself all the way to the bank, though, so what does she care?

Apparently "Fresh Modesty" is a synonym for sl*tty. This lovely picture is on her sidebar. I guess she's all about modesty, except when it comes to advertisers that pay $$.

Bloggers don't have much control over ads if they sign up with a company like Adsense…she didn't pick this one or anything…

True, but if you are going to be judgy-preaching to me about being modest, you should monitor your ad content a little more.

Yeah, I'm into fitness. Fit'n this in ma mouth!

No, her FATHER will make millions off her company and be laughing all the way to the bank. Because women are too weak to control their own money. What are you, some kind of feminist?

I like Olivia. She's sweet, charming, has been pretty honest about dealing with the longer-term complications of some kind of auto-immune illness (she mentions lyme disease, but I don't know for sure or anything). She maintains her own modesty rules while also being pretty true to personal style and fit. I didn't even know headcovering was a 'thing' that was coming back until reading her blog.

I could see the profits from her company not going to her father so much as being put into a bank account to use after her eventual assumed marriage – to use as a down payment for a house or to pay for living expenses or something. Her family seems to push frugality pretty hard, so I doubt her dad is just bathing in a bathtub full of denim skirt money.

I've really enjoyed watching her branch out of his shadow as she gets older – she's started a company, makes trips on her own, and has kind of gained a freedom and different perspective over time. It'll be interesting to see where that takes her.

I really do like her. I think she's a big sweetheart and is probably lovely IRL.

My only troubling thing has been occasionally when she talks about her family's church. She mentioned once that in the after-church discussion sessions, the men ask discussion questions. If she has a question, she has to relay it to her dad and then HE asks it out loud. Or she waits until after the discussion to her for elaboration. I just think that sounds terribly sad and would be pretty rough for anyone who had real questions.

I used to be more troubled by the way she talked about her father in very idolizing terms but her mother was almost never mentioned – that's faded out over time, and was way more common when I started reading her blog a couple of years ago.

I'm actually at a point where I do just generally enjoy it. Yes, she gives "you should do this" instructions, but that's… pretty common of fashion bloggers, modest or no. It doesn't bother me – she's regularly asked for advice on specific articles of clothing by her commenters/readers.

I don't know. I just think it's probably the best modest fashion blog I've read, if only because it always seems so true to who she is. She's a definite SOMI for me.

Help me out, hamcats. I found another gem of a blog – this one has the most original title ever.

I think this trainwreck-in-the-making worships at the alter of Fresh Modesty and, quite frankly, she freaks me out.

Hey, y'all. Natasha holds her blog to high standards. Those standards do not include grammar.

Observe: (thanks to the wonder of cut and paste)

I focus mostly on fashion, but when I feel led I reach other topics as
well. Everything from the lost art of: Holding the door, to modest, feminine
"What I Wear" posts.I hold my blog to a high standard, and as such never post
anything that can not be seen by all eyes. In a recent survey I found that my
readers ages ranged from 12-30! Quite the gap! But I'm excited that such a wide
range of people are interested in my blog!

I'd never heard of Fresh Modesty before now, but looking through her photos I really like a lot of her style.  chair  Not everything, but as someone who likes to dress fairly modestly (because that's what I PREFER, not because anyone told me I have to!) I really like a lot of her style.  I'll just choose not to actually read her words…

Same here. Those halftee things she's always promoting actually seem kinda useful/cute. chair

But then she'll get into a discussion about wearing a concealed gun while running errands or something and it quickly becomes uh
