I love that that's her explanation for wearing skirts, that she doesn't choose to quote scripture or anything. She just made up some line about imaginations. I find that very weird.

I love that she says the entire purpose of wearing skirts is to hide the "crotch".  That has to be one of the strangest and funniest things that I have ever heard. I never knew that there were so many maniacs who were leering at crotches

This lady's life is so rigidly structured it's depressing.  It seems so joyless.  And her parenting seems borderline abusive (the potty training post, yikes) and focuses so much on training the joy and free will out of your child.  I guess it's all worth it if you are replenishing the earth with obedient children.  Also, modesty bathing suits that are "snug-fitting in the torso so that they are…slimming and attractive…" and confusingly, worn UNDER wet suits dead

^^uhhh…is it normal for kids to not be fully potty trained at 5 and 6? And she waits until age 3 to start? And she thinks her child is wetting herself on purpose? Isn't that potty training 101–don't take it personally? Kids where I live are trained before one year so I forget the norm in N. America.

That said, I'm pretty sure PULL UPS AREN'T IN THE BIBLE!! If you want to do it Jesus' way, your child will wear split pants and be trained by 6 months! Maybe they need to delve deeper into God's word.dance

I wish I could say it's strange but it's common worldwide!

Skirts aren't exactly safe for walking up stairs or certain activities, you will get a real view of the crotch. I don't understand how that works.

So after having 6 kids pretty close together, and having just delivered # 6, her husband tells her he wants to start trying again for another baby immediately. She feels she needs a bit of a break from being pregnant. So she sends up a prayer.

"Lord!  I just want to be hormonally and physically normal for a while!"  And He very quietly and lovingly said, "This is the new normal…so you need to adjust."

http://www.largefamiliesonpurpose.com/2011/07/family-planning-surrendering-control-to_12.html

And her 7th baby is born 10 1/2 months after the 6th! And then comes 8 & 9 (twins) just 11 months later and wait…….she's still got room for 2 more in the van!

She sounds like one of those women who surrenders herself to her husband's wishes. I had difficulty getting showered and dressed when mine were 1-2 months old, let alone considering jumping in the sack and getting jiggy for another one!!

The idea of praying to a deity instead of talking to your god damn husband about something as huge as this is just mind boggling to me, and by mind boggling I mean absolutely f**king insane. I'm sorry but you must have a really shitty, cruel, asshole of a God if you believe this is what he/she wants from you– to not even get to fully physically recover between giving birth.

My kitten is still a baby so I'm not totally sure but I feel like in the United States 2.5-3 is pretty common age.  BUT locking your kids in a bathroom for 6 hours, isolating them from their siblings, pumping them full of junk food and juice packs, just to speed-train…seems awful.  And it seems a bit disingenuous to claim you potty trained your kids in less than a day if they are still wearing Pull-Ups at night when they are 7 confused

That sounds exhausting to have back to back pregnancies. Her husband must be a total horndog.

This HAS to be a GOMI-er, since the post is old and the comment was new.

Thank you for the post We too love to wear skirts to hide our crotches. Our male kin seem to favor pants which can be a little tight and bulge out. How does your husband handle this ? Are there any types that are looser?

I find it strange that a woman who wears long skirts has short hair! I would have expected her to consider that "man hair", and therefore totally inappropriate for a woman of god. drool

Did you see she blogged about that (I read it because it was linked in the long skirts post)?  Kind of blew my mind that someone crazy enough to wear skirts all the time would think hair wasn't a big deal.  Usually those two go hand in hand!

Oh, missed that link the first time.

I really don't understand this women must appear feminine thing. I had to facebook defriend a girl I knew from high school cause she was posting stuff like this. I understand the acting feminine/subservient (that is, understand how it fits with their theology, not understand how it's a good thing), but I don't understand why it's so crucial to appear feminine. Are they afraid if they look androgynous they might pass for a man and step out of place?

I'm not a Christian anymore, but I grew up in a Presbyterian church, and the god I grew up with really didn't give a f**k about anyone's appearance. Really, shouldn't it be a matter of what's "in your heart" and how you interact with others that indicates if you're following the rules, not whether you have wispy, feminine hairstyle?!
