Because–the man is in charge. Men like WOMEN. Do you want to make it look like your husband is a homosexual? Do you want other people to think that you're not submissive to your husband? That you're trying to be in charge with your man hair? How dare you embarrass your husband with your short hair!!

Or something. I'm just spitballin' here. I wish her style of writing wasn't so dry and boring because I could see being endlessly fascinated with all this ridiculousness. I can hardly get through a single post though.

Oh, and bowls of candy on the bathroom floor… puke

So after having 6 kids pretty close together, and having just delivered # 6, her husband tells her he wants to start trying again for another baby immediately. She feels she needs a bit of a break from being pregnant. So she sends up a prayer.

"Lord!  I just want to be hormonally and physically normal for a while!"  And He very quietly and lovingly said, "This is the new normal…so you need to adjust."

http://www.largefamiliesonpurpose.com/2011/07/family-planning-surrendering-control-to_12.html

And her 7th baby is born 10 1/2 months after the 6th! And then comes 8 & 9 (twins) just 11 months later and wait…….she's still got room for 2 more in the van!

She sounds like one of those women who surrenders herself to her husband's wishes. I had difficulty getting showered and dressed when mine were 1-2 months old, let alone considering jumping in the sack and getting jiggy for another one!!

That sounds exhausting to have back to back pregnancies. Her husband must be a total horndog.

Or a total control freak asshole who doesn't take his partners wishes and feelings into consideration. I know where my money us in that one.

Or a

This is what i don't get. Women and girls must be modest, but her toddler son is shown on the toilet sans clothes. Women must crotch cover but boys can show theirs on the internet?!, Btw hate the word crotch.

also that post on toilet training is bizarre. Encouraging your kid to stuff himself with sweet and salty food so he will be forced to guzzle juice to make his bladder burst and pee? I never knew that Capri Sun fruit punch is a magic elixir used to induce urination. I have never heard of this unique potty training technique. Does her husband also gobble chips and stuff his face to pee? How handy to have a bathroom that also doubles as a mini mart!

I was trying to read it, but after the 17th *smile* my eye started twitching. I'm generally a pretty positive person, too!

Because, women exist to make babies and men are lusty, sex animals who cannot control their urges. Do you even go here? wink

Also she has a picture of one of the girls in only a diaper in that post, so your point there is moot.

I really don't understand this women must appear feminine thing.

Me neither ! "Large family on purpose" mentionned the "31 days of feminity challenge" and here I went for answers. http://www.themodestmomblog.com/2011/10/

When God created Eve in the garden, he made her to be a helpmeet to Adam. He did not create another man full of strength and vigor to be Adam’s helpmeet. No, he created a tender, soft, compassionate female to be the loving helpmeet of Adam.

[...]Many women struggle with believing (as the feminist movement has done a thorough job promoting the idea that we are equal with men in every way) that women are just as strong, just as capable as men no matter what the task.

Let me ask you this question. If you were in the top story of a house that was on fire, would you be more confident in having a male firefighter, or a female firefighter climbing up that ladder to come and rescue you?

Likewise, if you had to go out of town for the weekend and leave your young infant in someone’s care, would you rest at ease better if you left the child with a male to solely care for it, or a female?

As men and women, we have been created for different roles.

I just do not get the point. Even if you believe in gender roles, what does it have to do with your looks ? O_o

I frequently get emails from ladies [...] along the lines of: “I really want to wear skirts, I think it is more feminine and modest but my husband just doesn’t like seeing me in skirts. What should I do?”

[...] It is a difficult situation to be in. But honestly, as much I love to see ladies wearing skirts, it’s not so important to ruin a marriage over this issue. Maybe you could ask your husband if you could compromise, and wear skirts when you are out alone running errands, and just a few days a week. If you are out with your husband on a date or running errands with him, slip the jeans and sweet top on to please him. My guess is if your husband likes seeing you in jeans, he prefers a more modern look. So make sure the skirts or dresses you have are modestly up to date (here is an example of a cute modern, but modest skirt), and you don’t look like you just stepped out of the mid 1800′s. [...]

The rule of thumb here? Ask your husband his opinion on clothes, and not just your best friends.

Regardless of how your husband prefers you to dress, it is important to keep your heart focused on being feminine. Don’t fall for the lies that are prevalent today which whisper that we are the same as men, and therefore need to look so. Conducting yourself as a lady, and dressing to look like a lady are not signs of weakness, but rather of great strength as you feel confident in who you are – a daughter of the King!

Well… and what if I don't like that my husband doesn't let me dress the way I want ? Does the husband need his wife's approval in what he wears (I guess not !) ?
Also I AM a woman so I don't need to feel confident in "who I am". Because it is a fact !

After reading all she wrote on the subjet, I still do not get why women need to be feminine to please god !

Thank you, glad to hear we've done a thorough job. wink

Right?! Why would wearing jeans and a cropped (manly, b/c her short hair is wispy and feminine) hairstyle prevent you from acting in a subservient, female gender role?!

The only extent to which I understand religious-based appearance is either to (1) be modest in the sense of not showing off your body (higher necks, no tight clothing), or (2) be modest in the sense of not being ostentatious (wearing simple clothing, no jewelry, no makeup, etc.). Even if I don't agree with it, I can understand where that comes out of religious beliefs. But this gender-based appearance thing completely baffles me.

I can belly dance in a loooong skirt and it's still quite clear where my crotch is.

Also, I find "modest" swimsuits draw a lot more attention than a plain old Speedo.  Call me crazy.
