On the wife's "About Me" page: "One night at the dinner table, when Jill was only four years old, she began to cry and told her parents that she wanted to be saved! Jill still clearly remembers that night and how her daddy carried her up the stairs with her mom close behind and they led her to the Lord."

That sounds…very VC Andrews…

Delurking.

Some posters on FJ want to help the Rodrigues family by bringing them food, cloths, toys, etc. I have mix feelings about that. On one hand I think Rodrigues family could really use some help. But I think it is a little odd to try to intervene in real life.

I don't think it's a good idea. Either they'll accept help and say God provided, or they'll be offended and say god provides enough for us. Regardless do not recruit here, it's definitely against forum rules.

Tbh I wonder if child services would step in because of unsafe living conditions. (Who the hell puts a baby under clothes that can be pulled down through the literal gate and suffocate them?)angry

I'm going to guess they're part of the fundies that allow the head of the household to eat their fill, then the kids and wives are allowed to split what's left. I dunno, dad and grandpa seem to be very well fed. Kids and wife? Notsomuch.

I have no intention on recruiting. I apologize if my post was unclear. I was just hoping to discuss my feelings about posters at FJ interacting with the family IRL.

Just found this thread and was looking through the blog… They kids seriously look malnourished. Look at Nurie's arms in this photo… http://rodriguesfamilyministries.com/main/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/100_5606.jpg

Damn, those kids do look thin–the girls' dresses are just hanging on them.  I know some kids are naturally skinny, especially when they are growing, but those spindly little arms don't look healthy at all.

Poor babes.  And more on the way… others-221

Jill's sister was in an accident on Good Friday. Looks like she had some severe spinal damage. I hope the family has insurance. Hospitals don't take tracts as payment.

Oh wow. After seeing a photo of the smashed vehicle, I am surprised Amy is the only one who was severely injured, never mind that there were no deaths. That family has a long and difficult road ahead, and that may not even sink in for a while yet. That is without even factoring in the financial issues or potential lack of insurance.

There is a description of how the accident happened….a good PSA for why driving when you are exhausted and fatigued is no safer than any other sort of impaired driving.

OK this is definitely the most horrifying Fundie thread. Damn, I wish I missed this one all together. Those photos of Amy in the hospital are too much. All of it is too much. scaredscaredscared

Sooo… they have a printing ministry that they don't get paid for in any way, but they ask for Churches to give them a $500 or $1000 annual gift towards that, and they ask for a monthly contribution towards their family ministry from anyone who is interested in giving it…

I'm just… wow. No. No words here. This is a whole new level.
