I find this blog fascinating.

http://sevenfarmgirlsisters.com/

20-something year olds who still all their parents Mommy and Daddy?

Mom goes on T-Tapp retreats?

Pilot licenses and EMTs?

County fair jam contests?

And more than a sprinkle of animal husbandry and calico…

It just seems like MOFY, Little House on the Prairie, and Green Acres mashed together

Reading the About Me Section now, what is up with this family… in one section they use "Bestest" then say "*yes, we homeschooled peoples do know that ‘bestest’ isn’t a word. We made it up, being the smart people we are" Um… you didn't make up bestest, I think my 7 year old has been saying it since she was 2 but has since learned other words to use that mean something is bestest… now going to go into the black hole that is Seven Sisterscoffee

I…  what… huh?  scared

Do these people actually live like that?  Any why are the girls all dressed up like that and the boys are in normal clothes?  On one hand I love that they seem to have individual interests, on the other hand some of those interests are kind of strange!  Their Etsy shop has some cute doll clothes.  One of the girls was saying how she wanted to kill herself but now she's going to be an EMT, and another is learning to fly.  These people are kind of interesting, so many questions!  popcorn

It's so curious.  Such a weird, weird mixture of tech-savvy and fundie-ism.  They are on Facebook and Etsy, yet wear long skirts, make their own petticoats, and wear scraps of lace on their heads because it's somehow "modest." The oldest is a pilot and is training to be an EMT, yet is pushing 30 and still lives a modest, chaste life at home with Mommy and Daddy. Aren't fundie women supposed to be married off early so they can have lots of bebbehs for Jeebus?

And the girls all wear skirts, yet Mommy gets to t-tapp in immodest pants that show the world just where her well-worn (9 kids; "14 in heaven") babymaker is located.  How does that work?

They weren't always long-skirt-wearing fundies, either. There are photos of Mommy rocking shorts and more pants. Wonder what changed the wh*re of Babylon's mind?

It's…perplexing. How can their lifestyle and mindset coexist with their knowledge of the greater world? Why aren't Mommy and Daddy more worried that their daughters aren't leaving the nest and creating their own separate lives?

Oh, and 3 acres?  Does not make a 'farm'.

The girls fascinate me. I read the post about Cassia wanting to be an EMT and how it saved her life. I actually thought it was kind of sweet…a little full of fake cheer, but sweet. I can't really snark on these girls yet.

Yeah, I'm into fitness. Fit'n this in ma mouth!

I have followed the 7S for years. They are probably the only fundie family you see who actually has non fundie friends and relatives they actually do things with on a normal basis. Yes, their clothes/head coverings are horrendous and they could probably marry some of them off if they dressed a bit more modern and wore their hair down sometimes, but they seem happy. I have emailed with them (food related) and they were just as nice and friendly as they seem. I really hope Cassia loves being an EMT and some of the other adult "girls" get a chance to do what they want to as well.

These girls are fascinating to me. Every Valentine's day they go to a Starbucks and write about their future husbands.

I remember they responded to someone who asked why the boys are allowed to dress more normally. Their response was that the boys are little and they really haven't thought about it yet. They say that all the girls decided on their own to dress like that, and that it was time to start wearing the head covering when the girl was old enough to ask about it. They admitted that at first many of them just wanted to dress like their mother and older sisters, but eventually wanted to do it to please their parents. I find it odd that every single one of them agreed to dress in such a way that would make them stick out in public. It's also strange that they all have exactly the same fashion sense – all homemade jumpers and head coverings. Not skirts or hats or other modest wear.

Jessica (I think) also mentioned something about marriage. She said one of her parents said that (paraphrasing) it would be better to be married for a shorter time and be happy than to have a long marriage and be miserable. So I guess they are okay with being single, yet haven't ruled out the idea of marriage.

Like most people, I like them and they seem happy, though it might be because fundies are *supposed* to be happy to please Jesus. They have made a couple of comments that wouldn't sit well with most (like praising the Duck Dynasty star for his anti-gay comments), but with the way they were raised, what do you expect? I haven't read their blog for a while, but I'm glad the older sisters seem to be branching out into careers. They are smarter than most fundie stay-at-home-daughers and it seems they have more freedom. I agree they are a fascinating family.

Has anyone made this crust?

I'm intrigued, but it could be the nastiest crap ever topped with sauce.

So it's cream cheese, egg and parm baked like a crust? That sounds disgusting.

I suspect it may actually work.  I've made something similar (with mozzarella, egg, and a bit of almond flour) that turned out great.

Egg and flour are common ingredients in many breads (especially quick breads), and lots of bread recipes add cheese for flavor or texture. But just cream cheese and egg with some parm sounds like it could be the nastiest thing ever.

Still, I might try it.

Holy moly, Bacon in Beans.  I totally missed the 9 kids, 14 in heaven thing on the blog.  The mother has lost 14 children?????   I can't even wrap my head around that.
