I watch this show over and over and over. I love when the series finale comes on and then the very next episode is the pilot, and it starts all over again.

Jess was my favorite for Rory. He just got her. When she chose Logan over him, it was hard to watch.

Emily Gilmore is my favorite character ever. This line is my favorite of the entire show.

Emily: Lorelai Gilmore, are you seriously suggesting that your father go to a complete stranger and talk about his personal life?

Lorelai: Lots of people swear by it.

Emily: Yes, disturbed people, deviants, people with multiple personalities who see things and hear talking to them and roam the streets talking to themselves and licking parking meters.

I laugh every time.

^^^^ totally agree with the April hate! It was as if some terribly boring fanfiction got mixed in the real script. Awful! The story line was shit and the character was insufferable.

ETA: I just cried laughing at the Emily quote

My favorite Emily quote is from the vowel renewal episode. Emily realizes there's a bead loose on her dress and asks Lorelai to fix it, and when Lorelai suggests she gets the dress maker to fix it Emily says "When a women gives birth to a crack baby, you do not give her a puppy."

I also hated the majority of the April plot line. I hated that they broke Luke and Lorelai up a second time. They had done that once already. We all knew from the start of the series that it would end with Luke and Lorelai together. Don't complicate things, let them be happy–sometimes I think shows focus too much on drama and tension, I mean…how many shows feature a happy, healthy couple?

I also hated how Lorlelai acted during her marriage to Chris. It was so obvious what he was to her.

I think in honor of Lorelai, if I ever have a daughter I'm going to name her after myself.

Heck yes, and I even have another named planned where the nickname WILL be Rory.

I loved GG but I hated…

Lorelai at times; Rory practically the entire "college years"; what Dean turned into or rather what he was turned into, I have to remind myself he's not a real person but an actor with a script, and who left GG for a better offer; JESS ugh I did not get that at all; April, in general I hated how Amy Sherman-Palladino couldn't leave well enough alone. I get making drama for the show's sake but she always took it a step further and had to throw a wrench, a whole freaking tool box, into Lorelai/Rory's lives (Sherry getting pregnant, Rory cheating on Dean, then Rory cheating with Dean…) but that whole "Luke has a daughter! And she's a mini-Rory!" that was the catalyst for so much crap between Luke/Lorelai was one of the worst.

Don't pelt me with tomatos ya'll I really am a fan but those things irked me! chair

OMG I agree with you on basically everything! Dean so would've never become as ridiculous as ASP made him and that made me sad. Sometimes college Rory annoyed me, especially when she randomly quit Yale and didn't speak to Lorelai for a while, I felt like I didn't know her at all, but I guess everyone goes through rough/identity crisis times in their lives. We can just pretend the whole April thing didn't happen…I never got why Luke was being so weird about it.

Emily is probably my favorite character too, although I have a lot of love for Mrs. Kim and Paris too. And Kirk. And obviously Luke, especially when he rants or fights with Taylor.

I just remembered when Richard and Emily donated money to Yale to have a building named after Rory. Loling just thinking about that.

Last night I watched an episode in season 1 where Emily comes to Stars Hollow and shops at Kim's Antiques and the scene where Emily and Mrs. Kim are haggling is just too great.

Also, when Lorelai tells Emily to annoy Trix/Gran on purpose and she takes like 20 minutes to eat 5 green beans or whatever…I love Emily so much right then.

Yay, I'm so glad this thread exists. Add me to the "loved Jess, hated Chris" bandwagon. Also hated Dean. I understand his purpose, but to me he was such a one-note character (played by a one-note actor), and did nothing but bring Rory down. I was so annoyed when they got back together that I fast-forward those scenes when I re-watch.

It's a joke in my parents' house that everyone hates Dean. I grew up watching the show with my mom, and she hated Dean even more than I did. My dad somehow ended up watching Supernatural religiously, and he doesn't understand why we dislike Jared Padalecki so much.

Anyway, I digress.

Emily Gilmore is one of my favorite TV characters, I could listen to Kelly Bishop read the dictionary on tape and still be captivated!

I too am for Rory and Jess. They had amazing chemistry, she was always so stiff with Dean… and far to loose with Logan ;p

I LOVE THIS THREAD SO MUCH! I still watch Gilmore Girls…I used to have it on constant rotation (watching an episode when doing dishes or whatever) but now watch it less often. When I get started though, I can't stop. It's like an addiction! Or like comfort food. Even though I know what's coming, I still keep going back. It's really the only show I can watch over and over and over again. My thoughts:

-Love Jess and Rory! He wasn't right for her when they were 16/17 but he matured a lot and I picture them getting back together while she's on the campaign road. I feel like Rory and Lorelai are going to be close for life so obviously the guys they pick need to be compatible with BOTH of them which is why Luke and Jess are the ones (in my opinion)

-I didn't totally hate Lorelai and Chris at the same time…it just wasn't meant to be. Even though he did everything right, it just wasn't there for her.

-The ending was SO unsatisfying. Just a kiss for Luke and Lorelai? After all we waited?! You could tell in the first episode that they were going to end up together and I wanted to see more than that!

-Some of the side characters would annoy me sooo much at times though! Taylor, when he was trying to sabotage construction on the inn for his ice cream stand or whatever that was. Kirk, when he was trying to buy the Twickham house out from under luke! Kirk during L&L's first kiss. Kirk in general! Even Jackson at times.

-But I LOVED Ms. Kim, Lane, and Paris. They really were great actresses, and definitely carried some of the show. Ms. Kim always makes me laugh! And I always think it's funny how in the first few seasons Lane refers to "my parents" but then eventually stops doing that because it's just her and Mrs. Kim

-I always wished Lane did more with her life. I like that she found someone who loves her and everything, but Zack just seemed so…dumb. I know she wasn't a genius or anything but she seemed intelligent and I just wanted more for her. I just thought she would at least be rocking out with the band for a few years before having babies!

-Speaking of Lane's band, Gil was hilarious! He was so funny and I just liked his character overall.

-Totally agree that Rory got kind of annoying when she went to college. The worst was the 7th season (when the Palladinos were gone), but it's like the writers just now realized that she's gone through college without making any new friends so they just threw two new friends in there for her!  Lucy and Olivia I think their names were. So random. What was their purpose? I don't understand throwing in new people for the last season. Also, making Lucy date Marty? I don't know what the point was for that, just to tie up the strings on the whole Marty relationship since he disappeared after like the 5th season? Just strange in my opinion.

-My favorite scene: probably the one with Luke when he bought that "you can have love!" tape. When he turns it on and it screams "LOVE!", his reactions to that are priceless. I think it's so adorable that a grown man turned to a book/tape to help him find love, and that it led him to Lorelai. I just love everything about that.

-Agree with all the Emily love! She is amazing. I love Kelly Bishop's voice, deep and husky. She has amazing enunciation. I had no idea that she was part of the original "A Chorus Line" musical. If you haven't watched the documentary Every Little Step (about the making of the show), I recommend it! It's really interesting and Kelly Bishop makes a few small appearances.

-I too wish there would be some sort of reunion. A movie or anything! But as the years go by I know the chances are less and less. I remember reading that Lauren Graham said one time that it would be up to Amy, but I don't know if Amy would be wanting to go back to that, especially after Bunheads being cancelled

-OT; did anyone watch Bunheads? I did, liked the first half but it was weird to watch because it felt so much like Gilmore Girls but not at the same time. I didn't enjoy the second half because they started focusing on the teenage girls then and I am not so interested in that storyline.

Sorry for this LONG comment! I have sOoOoO much to say about GG, but no one I know watches it anymore (understandable, it's been off the air for like 7 years lol) so I just needed to get it all out! Love all you hamcats!

Jess and Rory were sexy-sexy, Dean and Rory were kind of sad, like he was bringing her down. I love the endless unrealistic mother-daughter junk food eating sessions, awesome.
And Paris was a great character .

Haha, just kidding. I agree with you about everything else. But, Jess was perfection.

My "unpopular" opinions

- I loved Tristan. In fact, I think that Logan was just a less witty and charismatic version of him.

- Luke bored me after him and Lorelai got together. Their banter was so much better when Luke was hiding his secret love for her with annoyance.

- I really liked Lorelai and Max. The 1000 yellow daisies proposal is one of my favorite scenes.

- GG really bored me during the college years – I didn't feel like anyone was true to their original characters, JESS WAS GONE, and the writing wasn't as great.

This really annoyed me about the series actually! It was like Rory was the haves, and Lane the have nots. While they both seemed equally smart, more or less, Rory got to go to prep school, got perfect boyfriends while Lane had awful secret relationships hidden from Mrs Kim and stayed in her shitty public school. Rory went to Yale and Lane got to work in Lukes? HOW IS THIS FAIR? Even their relationships were polar opposites, while Rory was with Rockafella Logan swanning around being posh and whatnot, Lane was with Zack, this penniless lay about. And she got accidentally knocked up from some awful sex on their awful honeymoon. The whole show sees them on totally opposite trajectories and it's really depressing for Lane.

-Totally agree that Rory got kind of annoying when she went to college. I totally agree that this story line was soooo weird, especially the Marty sitch. Love Krysten Ritter though.

Obsessed with this show.. I swear that in my early 20's it was the only way I could make sense of my family ( My mother IS Emily Gilmore) and after buying the box set on DVD I got my husband into it too.. However we like to pretend the 7th season doesn't exist.. seriously just a big ball of WTF..

I really liked Jess.. especially when he showed up again after getting his book published etc, I really wanted them to get back together then. I NEVER liked Logan. College Rory was pretty awful as well, she seemed less intelligent but people were forever gushing at her feet, telling her how great she was etc, even after she was involved in stealing the yacht.. she seemed almost unrecognizable from her high school self.. and yes I know that happens but even so!

I also felt like College Paris was just a parody of her former self and that really irritated me because I actually really liked her character.

Luke and Lorelai.. I agree they were a little less entertaining once they were a couple, but I'd still have preferred we got to see them married rather than that rush lets run off to Paris, marry Christopher and then break up again just as quickly. That whole thing drove me crazy, but not quite as angry as APRIL. Ugh. Worst character on the show..

Hated the way Dean changed. He was the perfect high school boyfriend and should just have been phased out appropriately.. not married then cheating etc.

I liked Lucy and Olivia but it would have been better if they'd been introduced earlier.. also I quite liked Janet and Tana and was annoyed they were never heard of again after the first year at Yale.

But despite all that, easily my favourite show ever.. gets quoted way too often in my house!

I liked Tristan too!!! I think he was supposed to be the original "Jess"-type character but he left to film One Tree Hill so they recast.

I never minded that Lane didn't go to college/worked at Lukes, but it annoyed me how she got knocked up and really lost her chance at all her dreams… Granted, she got to do that summer tour with Hep Alien that her mom helped/supported. I guess I liked the storyline more than if they had made them get some huge record deal and become super famous, when in reality chances are like one in a bajillion of that happening.
