How have there been no updates in here?  Stuff is going down!  Rayna's dad!  Scarlett and Gunnar!  Luke from the OC (welcome to Nashville, b***h!)!  Juliet sleeping with her mother's sober companion and then her mom trying to make a move on him!

So much happened in the last episode. I hate to wait another week for a new one! I thought they were killing off Rayna's dad but I guess not. This way they can have more drama now that the guy Rayna's mom cheated with has been identified. I'm not sure how I feel about Luke from the OC. I hope they aren't setting up a love triangle with Scarlett and Gunnar. I want them to be a happy couple for at least a few episodes before they break them up!

That guy is totally not trustworthy, btw.  I feel like he's gonna lose all of Juliet's money in a ponzi scheme or something.

And what do we think of Deacon's new girlfriend?  She is sooooo boring to mesnore

I don't like the sober companion guy. Definitely shady. Good theory on losing her money. I wish they would bring back the football player. I liked them together!

Deacon's new girlfriend is also on the Americans so that throws me off!

I think cowboy Luke is gay.  There's just something about his macho bravado that's a little "doth protest too much," but we'll see!

Is it bad that I wish they would kill Rayna's dad off? His character bores me.

I also agree that Deacon's new girlfriend is boring. I think she's just a placeholder. They haven't really developed her character much at all, she's just kind of "there". I like her better in The Americans. Ha.

Aand I too hope we don't see a Scarlett/Gunnar/cowboy Luke love triangle. It does seem like one way or another Gunnar will fall out of good graces so that her old boyfriend can try again for redemption.

I keep thinking Juliette might gain a little maturity and introspection, but she keeps doing worse and worse things. It's pretty awful how she's treating her mom, and the personal stuff she said about Deacon all out of context. The sober companion guy will not end well. Yuck.

I'm ready for Rayna and Deacon to give it another go already. I guess that would be too climactic so early in the series. Her husband is the worst actor on the show, though, so I wouldn't mind if he died off with her dad.

I think cowboy Luke is so shady. Like he wants to ride Scarlett's coattails to get a deal or something. I don't know. Something about him is shadier than the sober companion to me.

and yeah, I kinda hoped they'd off Rayna's dad too. He's so dramatic. It's lame.

Was Nashville new last night? My DVR says repeat and IMDB says no new episode until May but I swear I saw a promo for a new episode while I was watching Tuesday night's Body of Proof

I think they'd hinted that the oldest one wasn't Reyna's husband's biological child in one of the earlier episodes.

Needs to come back. I love Connie Briton but I feel like she sorta plays the same character as she did in FNL.

Yeah, if I recall correctly, it was a very fast blink-and-you'd-miss-it reference. Which honestly is weird for such a dramatic plot twist.

^^ Actually, they mentioned it a few times. In the pilot, Rayna's dad mentioned something about Maddie not being Teddy's kid. Then, a few episodes ago, he threatened to tell her husband if she didn't let go of the whole "affair" thing  support him; this is when Teddy tell him that he already knows and he should stop threatening them. They've never straight-out said it's Deacon's kid (I don't think), but it's a pretty much the only conclusion to make.

So, was anyone else REALLY shocked about Will is gay thing? I figured it out a few seconds before the kiss, where I was still pretty surprised. I wonder if they are going to make Gunnar bi?

Also, Deacon/Rayna are super hot and everything, but I want more Liam! I kind of love him.

Warning – I have strong feelings and think too much about this show!

This show is still a mess! It has such great potential but there are way too many characters and the story lines are all over the place. There is no central theme in the season, just a bunch of people in Nashville running around like headless chickens.

I really wish this show would get its shit together as the premise is great. And Connie Britton and Charles Esten are fantastic. They need to make it more character focused and less soapy.

Characters/story lines that need to be cut:

  • All political story lines on this show have no payoff, create very little tension and are boring. Cut.
  • Teddy – as he has the personality of a wet rag and serves no purpose seeing as he and Rayna will never get back together. Cut.
  • Lamar – who seems to think he is playing a villain on The Young And The Restless. Cut!
  • Avery – what's his story line again? A country singer trying to make it could work, but they don't give him enough to work with.
  • Can someone please tell Scarlett to stop talking like a baby?
  • Juliette Barnes is still a bit of a caricature. She needs work.

Yes, I agree with all of this! With the possible exception of Avery, who has become more interesting now that he's lost it all and is eating humble pie. I think that the show could be really great if it became more character based and much less soapy. All of the actors need to take a cue from Connie Britton and Charles Esten on how to play their characters in this show – the actors don't even seem on the same page as to what kind of show it is.

You're right, there is a real problem with tone. Take the two stars of the show. Connie is so naturalistic and great, while Hayden spends most of her time hamming it up. They look like they are on completely different shows.

I don't know who is in charge, but I really hope they make the necessary changes and revamp it for season 2… Maybe even dropping Juliette? Honestly, some of the more minor characters like Scarlett and Gunnar have way more chemistry and are far more interesting and engaging than she is. I'm much more interested in Scarlett and Gunnar's story lines than I am in Juliette's latest tantrum or bullshit drama that goes nowhere. It's boring and she's not even really connected to anyone on the show at the moment, she just exists in a bubble with her mum and dodgy sober companion.
