I feel like it's an Anthro thing. I've seen Anthro use the gross dried orange garland decor for years now, and way before these prairie mamas started smearing them all over insta. I actually assumed that's where they got the idea.

They all copy her … but when Sarah Alchmist does it, she rants that everyone is copying HER. (Then stomps off and sets her IG to private.) lmao

I don't think MW, OJ, Bris, etc, ever has an original thought. If no one had their names on their IG, I wouldn't know which picture belongs to who. There's something really sad about these prairie clones who seem to have no friends, no outside lives beyond their white rooms and open kitchen shelves. Who spend day after day after day staging and photographing said rooms, along with camera stalking their little kids dressed like street urchins.

I think it's a jerk move of MW to not tag small businesses in her posts. For example the wooden hexagon shelf. That's a local KC maker owned by a mom of 3, would it kill her to tag them (especially since I'm sure she got it for free). She only tags posts that are paid for but those small shops can't afford what Starbucks or miracle gro pays her.

Last year, they were all doing cranberry garlands. This year it is oranges.

It's amazing to see the cycle of items. OUT are Chemex coffee pots (MW just shilled for a fancy pod one instead), cranberry garlands, even brooms and essential oils get less time lately

STILL IN = babies in Moses baskets, hand rolled candles, twine, frondy pine stuff from the market (but we all know its really Trader Joes), selling your children's childhood

My great grandmother used to make the cranberry and popcorn garland and the orange garland. I am pretty sure this practice has been around since the 1800s. I don't care what these women are doing, nothing smells better then sliced oranges in an oven. Seriously, try it. The smell in your home alone is worth the effort, even if you aren't going to use the oranges for anything. My great grandma would only dry them in her oven for a few hours on a low temp but my mom had a dehydrator she used. I know these women can be irritating and pretencious but I don't think giving low budget craft ideas are a big deal.

And the TVs are back

Yes but they aren't watching tacky mainstream tv with tacky cartoon characters or something. They are watching Bob Ross! Painting happy little nature! So it's ok because that's still hipsterfolky and cultured.

The smug feeling must have been sufficient, so they don't need to be without any longer.

ETA: Oh THAT'S why there's been so many snaps and shots upstairs in their house lately — they're not watching less TV, they've just moved upstairs all the time. That's hysterical.

Her recent a-wreath-on-every-window-of-the-house picture seems way over the top to me but. Man do I wish I had a house like this…

I don't really get the wreath-on-the-window thing. It looks nice from the outside, but it obstructs the view from the inside. Which, you know, might not be a bad thing, depending on where you live, I guess. Our wreaths go on the shutters.
