I'm just surprised that no one ever mentioned that she went skiing at 6? 7? months pregnant. I don't care how good you are on skis, that sounds like she's putting that babies life in jeopardy.

Could she maybe have been cross-country skiing?  If so, I don't think it would be as dangerous.  I don't know, I can't imagine someone downhill skiing who is that far along.

And then there is super smug CJane, who really does believe that she is the divinely ordained reigning queen of Provo. She, like Nie, is very cavalier about her family's safety, presumably because she believes that's so special that Heavenly Father won't allow anything bad to happen to her or her children. Evidence of this is the unassisted homebirth thing, and then there was also a post a while back about how her little boy refused to eat for a while. She talked about just waiting it out instead of taking him to a doctor, which I guess is okay, as long as you’re careful about it. But then, when he started eating again, she was all "See, parenting is so easy when you're God's favorite Mormon!!!" So what if something would have actually been seriously wrong with her son? Would that mean that God didn’t like her anymore?

They are so annoying, so confusing, so sheltered, so ignorant, and SO PRIVELEGED.

Yahoo. That felt amazing! Thanks so much for starting this thread, OP!

So much of this.

If you're going to continue torturing yourself by reading CJane, I recommend reading an insane amount of insecurity into all of her motives. What's that line from Macbeth? Anyone who has to talk SO LOUDLY about how AWESOME she is, how TALENTED her high school (because she's never lived anywhere else) friends are, how WONDERFUL her life is, how CULTURED and AWARE she is, is hiding a lot of pain and low self-esteem. If you are it, just be it. You don't need to tell everyone and shove the proof of your fabulousness down their throats.

Yeah, she has her, 'Oh, I'm so fractured and frail!' moments, but on the whole, CJane is obnoxious, and those moments are a gimmick for more attention.

When you think about it, what's so impressive about her? She's lived her entire life in the same town, except for 18 months in Canada. She wrote a post once that she's traded on her family name her whole life (Look at me! I'm a Clark! My family has been in Utah forever! My dad is a city official!). She surrounds herself with her high school friends, pretends that they're all savant geniuses, and has built this alternative reality for herself where she's always doing these embarrassing photo shoots, talking about her writing career (dahling!), her vintage taste, etc. You know what, CJane? Go some place where you're unknown and build a name for yourself. That's impressive. Be a small fish in a big pond. Open yourself up for critique and guidance.

Someone posted this comment on her blog once, and I've never forgotten it — 'Humble before God, vain before everyone else.'

I don't have much of an opinion on Nie Nie, other than I think it's a shame that she is so woefully (and obviously) ignorant regarding politics, yet she is so strongly opinionated.  I know people who don't care to follow politics and don't really know shit about any political figures – but then they just don't have strong opinions one way or the other about politicians or issues or anything.  (I think it's stupid to live life not caring about real shit that affects us all, but whatever.)  My point is that Nie Nie, as a PP stated, seems to just be parroting what her patriarchs spout off and holding strong opinions about issues and politicians without knowing what the hell she is talking about…  And she uses middle school logic to refute criticisms towards politicians she supports.

For instance…  She recently posted four pictures of Mitt Romney wearing the same tie (on four separate occasions).  Then she said:

And also speaking of "hoity-toity":
I don't think a "hoity-toity" man would wear the same tie to at least four
different occasions! I mean, if he is so rich and untouchable
I am sure he could afford a few more ties.
See, just a regular guy like us-even for a Mormon.
Come on people!

Go Mitt!!

FOR f**kS SAKE, NIE NIE.  You don't think Mitt's handlers carefully plan out what he wears?!  This was probably a calculated move to somehow "prove" that he's an everyman.  "I'm just like you regular folk!  I wear the same clothes more than once!  I'm not too rich to relate to you!  No, siree!  Nope!"

I mean, DUH!

Nie nie was downhill skiing – not xc. Again – just further proof that she is not terribly smart.

Nie is awful for no reason other than her complete lack of intelligence.  I thought for a while that maybe she suffered some brain damage from the accident but if you read back through her archives, her writing made her come off as more stupid before the crash.

Continuing the theme of nie thinking she's invincible… she routinely sat in the hot tub early in her pregnancy.  Apparently she wants her kids to be stupid too.

Ahhh yes! Thissssss. She just comes off as so childish in her writing. One thing I have to give her mad props for:

Not homeschooling her children.

Good choice, Nie!!

Great insights. The whole Mormon mommy blogger thing annoys me. They are trying to showcase the Mormon way and their proselytizing/entitled attitude is awful. It is hard to bash on Nie Nie since I feel sorry for her…but she is "oh so righteous" and she was taking flying lessons and her husband left her to die (sorry to be blunt).  She lacks intelligence and any free thought.

Here is a blog that used to mock the mormon mommy bloggers that was awesome:

http://seriouslysoblessed.blogspot.com/

Is that true?  Did she really say that?  I haven't read that far back in her archives, but that seems pretty far from the White in Shining Armor picture she paints of him now.

Yes-he left her alone in the plane rather than try to save her because he thought it was better for the children to have at least one parent survive rather than lose both.  At least, that was how it was explained.

You forgot the part about how he had a vision from God telling him not to go back in the plane. Pretty sure I read that somewhere.

To be completely serious, I feel for them both having been through that kind of ordeal and I am so glad that they both recovered. And I do understand his reasoning. He was injured pretty badly, if I recall correctly. But I can't help but remember something I read in an article about the crash, in which he says he felt Nie pounding on his seat and telling him to get himself out, that she was right behind him, when in reality, she was unconscious at that time. That's…a pretty big thing to THINK you heard/felt. Pretty sketchy.

Wow – pretty sketchy indeed!

Re: The Sketchy Plane Story

First of all, it goes without saying that the plane crash was awful, and nobody should have to endure the agony of being basically burned alive.  That said: does anyone else remember Nie & Christian's appearance on Oprah?  Wherein Nie says that Christian saved her life and allowed her to escape the plane by making a path for her, telling her to get out, etc and then Christian sits squirms in the audience applause and Oprah praises.  And then, weeks later, the truth is painfully revealed in the newspaper piece: http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/stephanie-nielson-chapter1-120609.html

I just find the determination to spin things into a very specific narrative (one of wholesome, blessed, true man-lady soul mate love) kind of off-putting.  The actual events are understandable, I think, but lying about the makes me wonder about your guilt.

Also, don't lie to Oprah, dudes.  Just ask James Frey.

I used to read her blog before the crash and waaaay back in the day, when they were living in New Jersey, Nie wrote an incredibly ignorant post about going to vote and being disappointed about all the strange names "ending with vowels" on the ballot.  She was, however, relieved that most the Republicans had "good, American" names and she voted for them and it was good and amen.

I remember that too! So offensive. It was around that time that she made some mean, off-hand reference about people who dress their children in cheap sparkly tshirts with words on them. So sorry we can't all dress our children in mini Boden.
