I wouldn't want to give any of the bloggers we've been talking about there the satisfaction of being considered international others-221

Props to your user name! lols right back.

I suspect she took exception to my post. Good. She's a privileged narcissist who needs a wake up call. Travel should never involve complaining about how the host country doesn't cater to your every need. Especially when she b***hes about poor people who wouldn't earn the cost of her airfare in a decade.

Niggles about legit things like 5-star hotels with mice or theft, or getting groped on public transport – is OK. Complaining about tea fields (which are livelihoods that support entire extended families) that bore her because they are boring, or about Switzerland being expensive (hello? And that's a surprise coz why?!) is just selfish and arrogant. I suspect it's an age thing.

She needs to learn that when she travels she's a guest in that country, and it's an honor to be allowed to visit and take part in life there.

As discussed in the Aussie Mum Blogger thread, I think a certain photography/travel blogger could benefit from reading this: http://www.socialmediatoday.com/content/difference-between-articles-and-blogs

sponsorship is non-existant on travel blogs? Ashley, have you READ any travel blogs? because the ones I read are a circle-jerk of sponsorships, all trying to up their numbers so they can get more free things and go on free trips and work with companies and brands who require them to have a certain follower count.

Haha I love that she actually searched herself on here, then got upset when she didn't like what she found, then admitted it on her blog! Makes her seem even worse!
Another travel blog I can not stand is Y travel blog. I think travelling with kids is great if you do it properly and fit travel around the kids. But they try to fit their kids in around the travel. The mum (Caroline I think her name is) clearly begrudges the fact she has to do school work with her daughter when she could be using this time to travel or blog! She supposedly used to be a teacher but she writes horrible blog posts about having to teach her daughter and getting annoyed at her when she doesn't understand so something right away!
Anyone else noticed this?

I really want this travel blogs thread to take off because I've been reading a lot of them lately. there are a few I like (tend to be more expats though I guess who have real jobs and get to know their country well) but there are so many insufferable ones.

I only just came across World of Wanderlust as bloglovin seems to be doing it's best to make me follow her! I couldn't believe the recent "How I Travel full time" post. She screen shots a comment from a commenter who  says that most people couldn't afford to save $20,000 in a year and that Brook was able to save all her money by living at home with her parents- something other people can't do! Brook is not happy about this- the comment is so rude apparently! She then goes on to admit that yes she did live at home and save the money (but don't forget, her parents never ever contributed anything to her travels you guys! Only all her rent and food so she could save all her own money!!). She made sacrifices you guys!

That post made me unfollow her, actually. There was nothing rude about that comment. I also prefer expat blogs to travel blogs, real people with real jobs instead of dashing around the globe in an insane tempo like these travel bloggers seem to do.
