smiley-happy096 To whoever wrote that! That is exactly how I feel about YA! (Although I don't know what a tall poppy is!?).

I am so glad one of her readers decided to tell her the truth.. but of course, she can't see it. I agree- Sociality Barbie seems like a parody of YA, but she couldn't see that and thought it was a parody of everyone she hates because they aren't as "authentic" as her- but she posts all the same photos.

And I am so happy to see someone calling her out on the "I discovered NZ" thing..she has said things like that so many times!! No Liz, people had heard of NZ before you came along and instagram existed in NZ before you "showed" everyone how to use it properly…

I think she reads here sometimes (I think she posted a comment from Gomi once?) Wake up, Liz!!! I'm sure you could have a great blog if you stopped all the things the commentator talks about- take their advice! But I guess this commenter is going in the end of year "look at how hated I am cos I'm so real" post!, instead of being listened too.

You know if you don't tell people you are a trend setting explorer no-one will know.

Another one! Putting her in her place. Seriously, 99k followers is not HUGE, and neither are any of her other stats.

"It’s funny that a few comments down you say you’ve worked with some of the most famous photographers and videographers and how popular you are……..but, who are you? I could ask a hundred photographers and none would know you. TV shows? Any worth anything? Where are your awards? If you’ve worked with the best videographers in the world?!?!?!?!? No one knows you. You act like you’re famous….there’s Twitter feminists more famous than you. More people know who Goth Lord is than Liz Carlson. honestly, your social media like Twitter is always dead, you think 55k instagram likes is “super famous”, you barely get 3k likes on your own posts, and you are relatively unknown among anyone worth a grain of salt….ever. You barely even get any comments here! You are an unknown except in a super small niche part of the internet (hell, I wouldn’t know who you were unless I was an expat who lived in Spain), and even there….you aren’t the most popular. I’m confused on how someone like you can be so cocky when you are honestly so small. You brag about so much but it’s so clear that that is just a facade for how minuscule you know you are. Your impact is tiny. Your work is mediocre. You’re so bitter, it’s actually rather amusing. You’re even more delusional, it’s more amusing."

WOW. I guess when you have thousands of followers, a percentage will always get mad about something, but her critics are really sharp and aware and over it. So much more of a burn than "you're fat."

Wow. That person did not hold back! I agree with them though- she does seem to think she is more important than she is. In the grande scheme of blogging- she is nowhere near the top. I just happen to read a lot of travel blogs- that's the only reason I've come across her. There are plenty of bloggers I like with smaller or larger followings. The followers don't matter- it's the sense of being such a superstar that irks. Crrrunch hit the nail on the head- she has to tell us she's a trendsetting superstar or we would never know!

Oh it's here, and it is ABSURD.

"You hate my blog? You hate my face? You think I must live off my daddy’s money to live this life or that I’m not authentic? Well, just remember I am laughing at you when I’m flying around New Zealand in a helicopter or when I’m sleeping on a yacht on the Great Barrier Reef or when my face is on the front page of the BBC."

LOL, how does she have any genuine fans left? She's sooo self-obsessed. People who have "made it" don't go shouting from the rooftops screaming that they've "made it!"

I used to enjoy her photography, and just ignored her writing. The latter was often gung-ho and abrasive in a manner that reminded me of a friend of mine, who covers up her insecurity and vulnerability in certain parts of her life by loudly proclaiming that she doesn't care what people think. A 'fake it till you make it' strategy, maybe?

Lately, though, Liz's big noting herself has started to border on narcissism, and I had to unfollow her IG (had long stopped looking at her blog by that point). Didn't need those sort of vibes on my feed.

Why did GOMI make her hate list? Were mean comments so thin on the ground last year that she had to actively go to a place that exists for people to critique/vent about blogs they don't like? I mean, these bloggers don't want negative comments on their blogs, so people come to GOMI (where the bloggers don't have to see or hear about it).

If you follow the 'hate' to GOMI, Liz, you're looking for drama. No one here is trying to start anything with you. rolleyes In three months, you've generated enough dislike for not-quite-two pages. There are blogs here that garner more than that in a DAY.

Yeah, I image she's wildly insecure and this is why she has to holler about how amazing she is.

I'm so over her blog – they are either self-obsessed rants or sponsored travel posts. I can't imagine she actually has any friends in real life :/ sad really.

I am surprised no one commented about her rant on her Instagram last night about That Wanaka Tree.  She actually hashtagged when Asians attack.  She is unreal.

Looks like she deleted it and posted an apology. I unfollowed her a long time ago but another blogger posted a screenshot and called her out. I wonder if she'll make it a topic at her travel bootcamp? puke

I skimmed through the comments on her apology post and there are many "girl, you have nothing to apologise for, screw the oversensitive haters!" comments. (I don't think many of these people even saw the original post.)

The blog and subsequent social media channels are a business. I work at a digital media agency, and if I posted something like that on one of our client's channels, I would be in SO MUCH trouble.
