I am hoping someone can help me figure out what podcast I heard a certain story on. I listen to a lot of true crime while I run, and I was recounting one episode to my brother, but blanked when trying to remember the podcast so he could listen. The story was about a husband and wife whose house was stormed by the police in the middle of the night, after the police found evidence of some type (?) of cyber crime coming from their network. Rather than knock on their door at a normal time, they went crazy and went in with night vision, shot and killed the wife, and I think the dog. I believe the husband was injured as well, and I believe the police tried to get him convicted for shooting at officers. It turns out that the couple was not very tech savvy, and didn't have their network locked up, so a neighbor was using their network to commit the crimes.

My details are very foggy and bad, I know, but I hope this one is familiar to someone! I think I listened to it in the last 6 months or so, but it is possible that it was an old episode that I downloaded. Thanks!

I started listening to True Crime Garage last week. Omg. It's not as bad on some episodes, but I generally cannot stand the captain's presence. Little Beverly's episode could have been 20% shorter if he hadn't been constantly interrupting and derailing from the case facts. I don't know how the other guy doesn't scream at him to SHUT UP and let him finish a sentence… he spent like 10 minutes trying to get through two sentences. It makes it hard to follow the story with the constant derailments.

I am really enjoying Someone Knows Something this season. Season 1 was great, but like someone else said, it wasn't terribly compelling for me because how far could they really go with it? The child disappeared in 1972, and there was next to no witnesses or evidence. Very sad for the family, of course, but this one has a lot more meat to it because it was at least somewhat recent and there are plenty of people around who knew her. I also love David's voice and how he always describes the pets of the people he interviews, haha.

I started listening to SKS after I finished Accused. Maybe some Canadian hams can jump in here, but why didn't the police ever detain Mike Lavoie? I think they said he had only spent about 30 minutes talking to police.

In Accused, the police immediately detained the woman's boyfriend, questioned him for hours, and coerced a confession that didn't hold up in court. He was acquitted twice. No one but the police thought he did it. All of his friends and family, as well as the victims friends and family thought he was innocent.

In SKS, we have the opposite. Everyone knows Mike Lavoie did it, but the police have never questioned him. Is there a law in Canada that doesn't allow them to detain him?

I mean, I know that detaining suspects and forcing confessions isn't great, but FFS he was the last person to see her.

I really like S'laughter.  It's two British women and they're pretty damn funny.  If you don't love listening to swearing give it a skip though.

Warren Beatty, (can't quote for some reason), I COMPLETELY agree! It's so strange. It is so blatant to me that he did it, and somehow he was barely questioned.

Regarding SKS – I think that's the difference between US justice system/policing and Canada's maybe? He didn't even need to go in to be questioned whereas that kind of lack of response here in the states would get a warrant out after you (I think anyway?). It seemed like they simply lacked any kind of evidence against him to actually hold/question him and I assumed the lack of even questioning was due to the differences in the way the systems work between the two countries.

On the one hand I bet it leads to fewer wrongful imprisonments but also … really? You didn't even get to question the guy that pretty much everyone says did it. Even his family.

I thought season 1 was interesting to listen to but the wrong case to pursue because there's nothing there. The kid is long dead and there's no evidence they'll ever find to know what happened to a 5 y/o 28 years ago. This is a better case but I still wish they'd choose a much more recent case. Say 2-3 yrs ago.

I haven't had any issues, but I use Cloud Caster on my Android phone and Chromebook. (I wouldn't recommend Cloud Caster as a true substitute for iTunes, but it is really reliable.)

Sure is paranoid. Needs some rest.

Ah, see, I liked SKS season 1 better than season 2 BECAUSE it was such an obscure, basically impossible case. The show gave that case seemingly more attention than it ever received in its day, and I think it's fascinating to investigate something that dated and hopeless. I'm eagerly awaiting the follow up episode to the stuff they found in the lake where the dogs indicated scent of decay, how incredible would it be if they actually did find, so many years later, solid evidence that the kid drowned that day?

I really like everything about SKS. The host is great with his speaking and delivery, he does a great job of interviewing people, he's a great writer, the production quality is spot-on; it all comes together so nicely to really tell a story. I'm less intrigued by season 2 but only because I find the case to be more boring, not because of anything they're doing to unfold the tale. And yeah, there's no way the killer WASN'T Mike Lavoie…

Yup, I figured out the fix for Podcast Addict. For some reason it isn't grabbing shows from the correct rss feed, even if you unsubscribe and resubscribe.

Fix: In All Killa No Filla's custom settings click on "Edit podcast URL". Change the URL to their new rss: http://allkillanofilla.libsyn.com/rss

Then, refresh the All Killa No Filla episodes and they should all work again. Hope that helps!

I think I am giving up on True Crime Garage, I tried listening to the newest episode while doing dishes today and I just could not get over all the interrupting and going on and on by the captain. Seriously who the heck calls himself the captain?!?!?!

OMFG it is infuriating.  I would like the podcast if it were just the one guy (Nick?)
