I never heard of this girl before, but now I can't unsee her tongue sticking out on either side of her front teeth in every single picture!  What does putting your tongue behind your teeth do for your smile?

It's supposed to reduce double chins.

Sorry! It's all I see now every time she pops up on my feed. I almost unfollowed because I couldn't handle it but then at this point she's almost becoming a hate-read for me so, it's like I can't stop.

Never mind she runs her easy just a bit slower than her marathon pace. I fully expected a sub 3:30 marathon and she ran 3:35. Meanwhile she's running easy in the 8:20s (and 3:35 is like 8:12).

I'm no expert lol, but aren't long runs done 60-90 seconds slower than gmp? And add that she said it was complete ice? idontknow

I knowwww. Don't forget all the supposed sub-8 easy miles, either. And the constant talk about cadence is omg so important

This is one of the main issues I have with the somewhat "instagram famous" runners. A lot of them train at incorrect paces for their PRs/race goals. It is easy to get caught up in going faster than the intended pace for a run, because you know a pic with the distance and pace will go up to all of your followers. It is no wonder a lot of these runners never run races faster than their workout times, they are not training appropriately. And even worse, they are "inspiring" others who see similar PR times, and think they must need to run those kind of paces in training.

I have a friend (who used to run at a D1 college) who just started a running IG. I can totally tell she is going the above route, trying to get a lot of followers and some sponsors. She has a lot of talent, and could run well in the marathon, but only if she runs smart. Running fast, particularly in the marathon, has just as much to do with the hard days as the slow, easy recovery days. There are just so many bad training examples on IG, and they tend to be the more popular ones.

It's so annoying to see runners on IG who run their easy runs just 30-45 seconds per mile slower than half marathon pace. If your (recent) half PR is 1:40, then you should not be doing easy runs at a pace of 8:00. Heck, even if your half PR is 1:35 then your easy runs should be more like 8:30-8:45. These people are either going to get injured or not improve because they use all their energy on easy runs. And there are SO MANY of them!!!

Why can't people just not post their paces?

I think the pervy name for them is called upskirt photos (do not google NSFW)

I never understood the point of pictures like that, unless you want creepers creeping on your IG for the crotch shots only. idontknow

OK, I have another one (sockyrunner on IG) that I think may just be a case of being a younger, inexperienced runner but she constantly runs 5Ks and calls them "easy" and they are usually sub 8 pace (7:55, 7:44, 8:00, 7:59, etc).

Yet her recent race results, 10K = 49:49 (8:02), a 3.5 miler = 28:52 (8:14), a 3 miler = 23:30 (7:50), and a half = 2:10

There is no way sub 8 feels easy for her. I think she is a case of not understanding what easy is. It's still annoying to me because it feeds into the whole social media, fast pace BS.

Totally think that's the case. When I was a newbie runner (for years, I was so sporadic about it) I'd stop for water three times during the loop around my park. It's less than two miles! I think if I'd been timing myself back then I would have thought it felt easy, too – that's because I was basically only running half a mile at a time!
