OK, I have another one (sockyrunner on IG) that I think may just be a case of being a younger, inexperienced runner but she constantly runs 5Ks and calls them "easy" and they are usually sub 8 pace (7:55, 7:44, 8:00, 7:59, etc).

Yet her recent race results, 10K = 49:49 (8:02), a 3.5 miler = 28:52 (8:14), a 3 miler = 23:30 (7:50), and a half = 2:10

There is no way sub 8 feels easy for her. I think she is a case of not understanding what easy is. It's still annoying to me because it feeds into the whole social media, fast pace BS.

Totally think that's the case. When I was a newbie runner (for years, I was so sporadic about it) I'd stop for water three times during the loop around my park. It's less than two miles! I think if I'd been timing myself back then I would have thought it felt easy, too – that's because I was basically only running half a mile at a time!

Just found her on Strava but she chooses not to sync her runs and has an empty profile. Thought it would be interesting to compare the elapsed times.

Please tell me this is just typical IG hashtag abuse. She can't be that delusional…can she?!

Ah I hate saying it because for a long time I enjoyed her IG because we have similar half and full PRs and both working towards same goals, but jessbug1122 appears to have turned into another IG/FitSnap fibbing fibber !!! No way with a half PR of 2:02 are you now able to run 7-8 mile treadmill runs with a low to mid 8:xx average . Esp because she's super short and I have always maintained that shorter legs makes paces on treadmills even more difficult!
She's trained by run4prs (who I find to be completely baffling as a coach!) so who knows, but I highly doubt she's gone from a 2:02 half marathoner last year to a suddenly easy 8 pace . Nope, not buying lol!!!

I am so f**king PISSED OFF with bloggers getting shit, especially race entries to f**king tough to get into races.  The Runner Beans was meant to be doing Tokyo through some sponsor, but that fell through as the sponsor didn't submit stuff on time and the organisers said no.  So suddenly she's running London…and now her fiancee is also doing London because of a sponsor?!

f**k OFF. sangrysangrysangry  Gawd, I just want to post this rant as a comment on her blog/facebook (but won't; thankfully I have GOMI!).

I admit I'm totally not in shape to do London this year, and I'm aiming for a fall marathon instead.  But I try year after year to get in and don't.  I work for a charity that has bibs, but I'd still have to apply for a spot on their team like everyone else, and can't commit to the fundraising level, especially as it's more than my monthly pay from them!

bandwagonSERIOUSLY. This woman's time are not stellar given the volume of her training. And her post-run selfies are grody.

I don't understand the temptation to do this. I realize there's ruthless speed-snarking/snobbery among runners, which I hate, but I don't understand the decision to lie about paces or effort.

All I want to see in a running blog is someone working hard toward their goals and sharing their training, celebrating their successes, being honest about their failures, and thoughtfully commenting about running.

I think, on IG especially, everyone is trying to one up each other on how many miles, look how fast, my easy effort is faster than yours , yadda yadda yadda!!! It becomes such a dog and pony show and so off putting !!!!!

Blogs were like this at first (I think less so now, maybe only because the number and running-relatedness of blogs has declined), and when I first started reading them I thought my weekly mileage was SO inadequate! Runners at or slower than my pace ran a huge number of miles more than I did, and while I often thought I should increase my mileage, I'm glad my job was too busy at the time to do anything about it. I'd probably have gotten injured. In retrospect, most of those numbers look like exaggerations, fibs, or stupid training.

All of which is to say, the pressure's real.

Another case in point today from jessbug, claims to have run 10 miles treadmill at a 8:55 average . I don't buy it because her and I are at the same level, similar to the minute pr's (2:02 half) and that kind of "training " long run pace would kill me (not even sure I could do it much less on the tmill). So either she literally took pauses every mile, or she's fudging#s , or someone has become a 1:45 half marathoner lol

Why is everyone on Instagram a Nuun ambassador? Do they turn anyone down?
