How about a running blog by someone who admits to hate running and only does it so that she can inhale 50PP double decker cookies every week? Wtf is that about? idontknow

Don't know it; haven't read it. But I will say, I'm *completely* over the whole "runs for [food]" blog name convention. I think I'm going to go start a blog that's entitled "runsforme.com" or maybe "milesforme" because I run because I like it – not to keep my weight down or to allow me to indulge in dessert now and then.

I really like Katie and her blog. Her blog isn't entirely about running, to me it has more to do with her weight maintenance journey (which, of course, running is a part of). Healthy habits are good to have, regardless of your motivation. And, honestly, who gives a shit what she spends her PP on???

I'm completely over the whole running blog idea in general.  However I am not over people making fun of running bloggers, which is why this forum is awesome.

I love when people make fun of slow runners, I love when people make fun of runners with drinking and/or eating and/or exercise addictions, I love when people make fun of "runners" who barely ever run, I love when people make fun of runners who try to make money of their blogs, I love when people make fun of Mormon runners, I just plain love making fun of people.

I also know that I'm a shitty person, but I love that too.

Me, too. If you run so you can eat something, then you don't have a running blog. You have a weight loss blog. And I could not possibly care less.

She has a pretty incredible weight loss history and has been keeping it off for a few years – I actually find her really impressive.

She's said before she enjoys running, so maybe it's a love-hate thing. Certainly I think you'd have to like at least the improvement and feeling of accomplishment to keep doing it that much for that long.

I don't read her regularly, but I remember I first found her a couple of years ago, good to see she still seems to be doing well. Maintenance is just as important as weight loss.

I've been reading her every day now for a while and I don't think I ever remember her saying she enjoys running but she does refer to it being a love-hate relationship. I'm just getting sick of her going on pretty much every day about how much she was 'dreading' her run and really 'not wanting to run'. It annoying and really not motivating.

This blog drives me nuts. Aside from the constant complaining about running, her constant complaining about money is SO annoying. She seems to go out to eat a lot, and how about all the traveling she does? Aside from the expense associated with traveling how about the fact that she "hates flying."

She was too "broke" to run a half-marathon with her sister, so her brother in law footed the bill. I think her constant money gripes are an attempt to get as many free things as possible. "Broke" people don't go on $2,000 vacations like she did in January. Yes she was running a Ragnar but chose to extend her stay into a vacation.

Last year Katie complained her Garmin wasn't working. Garmin sent her a new watch… newest model new. Her broken Garmin was fixed but Garmin still sent her the new watch. She claimed she had to send her old watch back to Garmin. The part that drives me nuts is her husband started running. There is a picture of him wearing the same style watch she sent back to Garmin. Either she kept the watch or poor broke Katie bought another Garmin. Those watches are easily $200.

I could go on and on…

I found Katie's blog by accident while reading another <boring> running blog.  I am incredibly impressed by her weight loss and more so by the fact she's kept it off.  However, I do agree with the incessant whining about having no money.  Maybe it's to get freebies from vendors and, if so, more power to her. She's apparently using a free laptop, courtesy of Microsoft, and just dumped a glass of water on it.  :/

She can't be that broke – if I remember correctly (and I could be wrong), her extra skin removal surgery wasn't covered under insurance.  So, there's that.

Still, I like her except for the fact she talks SO MUCH.

Seriously, her days seem to be a whole lot of nothing.  She basically gets up, gets the kids off to school, dreads running, contemplates running on the treadmill or outside, decides, runs, checks her freebie Garmin AND now her f**king ActiveLink, changes her mind and is happy that she ran……and then what? Wouldn't it be like 10 am at that point in the day? That's pretty much it though. Couldn't she get a part-time job during the day if money is that tight? I think you're right about her not really being broke.

Haha! I forgot about her free Activelink! I wonder if Katie did the decent thing and at least offered whoever sent her the Activelink something. Even $20! Or one of those crafts she was selling in her store :-)

I believe Katie said her husband bought an Activelink too. Sounds like something a broke person would do.

Totally agree.. she should be working if indeed they are hurting for money. She mentioned at some point she'd rather not work outside the home. Something about her "anxiety."

Anxiety and fear of flying aside, she managed to take a freebie trip to NYC and be on the Dr. Oz show.

I do think her weight loss and maintenance is incredible. But sorry I don't believe she's hurting for money. I don't think she's loaded but definitely not as bad off as she wants us to believe.

While the money thing is a little weird, I actually like Katie a lot. I've e-mailed her questions a couple of times, and she always responds and is super nice. I think money is weird for a lot of these bloggers– aka, I don't know how they make a living on it, but to each his own.

She's posted about having severe anxiety/depression, so I think part of why she stays home is because of that.

She has a great weight loss story, and she is very open and real about both her weight and personal struggles– something a lot of bloggers lack. Very humble and personable. SOMI for me.

I would consider her blog a weight loss blog, not a running blog. I think it's great to show people who are trying to lose weight that you can maintain a good weight, even with treating yourself occasionally to ridiculous Mrs. Fields cookies. It's amazing to me how she can eat so many carbs and so few veggies, but I guess that the PP counting is working for her.

The one thing I do find pretty odd is how scared she is of things. I kind of roll my eyes whenever she talks about her near death experience with a loose dog or how she won't go back to a weight watchers meeting because a receptionist was rude to her one time.

That said, she's definitely a SOMI for me. You don't get the snobby pretentious feeling that is so common in fitness blogs, and you can tell she's a really sweet and nice person.
