I want to like this guy.  I used to like this guy.  But over the past year or so, his blog has just become shilling for one product or group or another and he acts like he's all that.  He and the girl from Weight Off My Shoulders have held "Come meet us" events at races and it's… Yeah.

Why do all these bloggers just end up selling out?  Why can't it be for the love of the run?

Overall I like him and his blog.  He seems like a nice guy, and I give him a lot of credit for all of the fundraising he does.  I've fundraised myself and it's a humbling b***h.  His blog is a nice mix of introspection and race reports and fun through running.

However…

WTF is up with his arms in his latest picture?  Who runs like that?!

And I can see where you're coming from being irked by his blog.  I side-eye anyone who blogs for a living (pretty sure his blog is his full-time gig).  I much prefer following blogs by people with full time jobs that still manage to train hard and better themselves as runners, rather than just run ALL the races for ALL the bling.  His writing is sophomoric, and I get a little crazy by people who make their living through writing and can't be bothered to proofread their posts.  His blog is littered with typos.

And the whole #werunsocial "movement" needs to die.  They just come off as trying so hard to project this image of how badass/crazy/fun/whatever they are.  Look at how FUN we are!  Don't we seem FUN?!  WE'RE HAVING FUN!!!!!!!

He has a real job, not just the blog.

I can't handle the amount of shilling. If you're the ambassador of LITERALLY ANY SHIT THAT IS THROWN AT YOU… are you really the ambassador of anything? Who can take that seriously? shutup

The wackiest thing is, in person, he is the complete opposite of his online persona. eek

So what's his real job?  If he is completely different IRL, does that mean he's a total jerk or something?

I'm looking forward to following his training for NYCM.  His goal is a 3:30 when he typically runs 5+ hour marathons (last month he finished San Diego in 4:56).  Not sure what his PR is.

long time lurker.

this guy is such a joke. I don't get how he inspires anyone. I stopped liking him once he began whoring himself for every company ever and started buying his way into Boston and acts like he qualified. He's training now for NYC and is supposedly logging in sub 21 5Ks everyday on a treadmill. What a liar he can barely run a marathon under 5 hours, 5k under 30 minutes and now he miraculously can keep a sub 7 pace?

I think he works full time as a project manager

Project manager, something IT related.

IRL, he's just super quiet and mellow. I've been at several of the same events as him, and he's always acted online like he's super excited and psyched to see everyone, then he's there and not really talking to anyone and just kind of withdrawn.

I have found that with a lot of bloggers.  They're super outgoing online, and then in person they're just withdrawn and shy.  Which is totally allowed – but then don't be all "LET'S HANG OUT!!!"

I don't think I've ever read a blog by someone so in love with himself as this guy. Every other post seems to be about how he's some self-professed inspiration to the world, laced with product reviews for any brand that contacts him.

And his training is ridiculous. I've followed this guy for a while, and he never seems to race faster than an 11:00 minute pace, yet magically he's now running a 6:40 pace? I guess anything is possible when you change the pace on your selfies from what the treadmill actually says….

Lmao, what could he be thinking posting that? I don't read his blog, but I'd never trust anything he posts about his paces based on that.

I can see it, all the times. It's a little too much Sharp to handle, kind of like his blog.

What's up with how photoshopped/doctored/edited his face is in that picture?! He looks like a cartoon!

I have found him too full of himself to stand myself.

He just posted about some BlogFest thing he did, and it reads like a confused 10 year old wrote this.

"The lightning round is session led by 8-10 participant chosen speaker who get 5 minutes to discuss a topic that is passionate to them."

It really is a deep post all about the trials and tribulations "social media titans" like him face. It really makes me have a new level of respect for the difficulties they have in choosing only brands that are important to them and the snacks they have to make sure they eat to keep their blogging abilities at maximum capacity.
