I would have never seen the potential in this house. It is a great lot though. Is she still paying for the condo?

That house is such a dump on the outside, but I have no doubt that it will eventually be amazing. It makes me wonder about the rest of the houses in the neighborhood.

I'm not going to mention the town by name (I think it's against policy) but didn't she stay in the same town? I'm a couple of hours away but I think land/home prices are pretty comparable. It makes me wonder what her total reno budget is. How much can she put into this house and still get out of it?

She recently posted that she really does not have a definite budget. However she estimates between $120,000 and $150,000 if I remember correctly. This includes the outside. I believe she paid mid $80,000.00's for it. So it could possibly get a good return. But she also said that they do not plan to move as she is near her Mom.  This is most assuredly a SOMI for me. I just love her thought process about decorating and her ability to get it done by herself.

Thoughts on the kitchen? I'm actually surprised on how much I like it. And the fact that she did all that work herself – pretty amazing. I also super appreciated her follow up post about stuff she wishes she could change – it seemed really honest and like good info to keep in mind. She's become one of the few DIY/Decor blogs that I actually look forward to every day.

I also appreciated her candor on the weight loss (and the fact that its a separate blog). I checked in and holy cow, she already looks a lot smaller.

Me too. I'm so boring and neutral in my decorating style, I really thought I'd hate those cabinets but they look great! I can't wait to see what it all cost. I'm always curious about the money aspect.

I think she's a very hard worker and I love the green kitchen cabinets (almost as good as Cameron Diaz's or Peppermint Bliss'), but I get easily annoyed by her personality. She's such a bulldog and gets quite defensive in her posts and in her comments. Regarding her weight loss, yes it's dramatic, but she's on a 500 calorie a day HCG diet, which is a total scam. She's basically starving herself and I can't imagine that the weight loss will be sustainable long term. The fan girls are eating it up, though. I wish she would stick to decorating instead of sharing irresponsible diet plans.

I agree with a lot of this. I like the kitchen. Still not a fan of the high contrast white and green but it's amazing she did it herself. I still don't think the tiles wall needed any decoration. Not a fan of the art, but

I'm excited to see a black breakfast room with such low ceilings, if only out of curiosity. But, what is with that kitchen table. Everyone keeps commenting that now it is too country and I agree, but changing the white isn't going to fix it. It's that scrolled edge that makes it so country and the cerise finish doesn't help. I don't really get how this high elegance breakfast room works with the living room. I know she'll be adding shine and some leather, but they seem like opposing aesthetics.

Finally, I cannot fathom that table as a bathroom vanity. She wants to use a drop in sink. Won't the plumbing/bottom of the sink be exposed? And she'll need to raise it and chop it in half? I don't think the table is pretty anyway, but there's a reason people use dressers for diy vanities.

Once again I show how boring I am, lol! I didn't like any of those rooms with black paint that she linked. I should probably amend that statement – I didn't like the black paint in those rooms, I actually liked some of the rest of the room. I am also curious to see how that works out for her.

I bought that exact kitchen table 5 years ago from a friend that was getting rid of it, all 4 chairs, and a matching hutch, for $100. It was too cheap to pass up, but it's not my style (very hokey country) and I would love to replace it. I'm really curious to see what she ends up doing with it. Did she ever show us the finished product? I know she mentioned cutting down the chairs to make them less stick looking.

I actually like that little parlor table although it doesn't really seem practical (as a table). I am very interested to see how she makes it work as a vanity.

At least she's interesting and a lot more ambitious/different than the run of the mill DIY'ers. I can't imagine doing all she does with little to no help.

Whether I actually like her finished projects or not, I always appreciate the amount of work & thought she puts in to her projects. She works harder than any other DIY blogger I've seen.

Also, her husband has MS and is occasionally wheelchair bound, so she has to keep that in mind when she's planning her space.

Dang, she's all over the place. I almost wish she would wait to blog until she actually has something concrete to show.

SOO I think I see where people are getting the "bulldog" impression….wow! But I still totally am in awe of her work ethic/abilities – god knows I can't even fold the laundry some weeks. I'm not 100% in on her style but it's nice to see someone do something that isn't "white with brass and pops of color" puke

And about the diet – yeah…I'm a bit of an exercise and diet know-it-all/snob….so…I just hope she sees a doctor on the regular. And a nutritionist after. I don't know how this can be healthy BUT it's not my place.
