You are so right. She could be oh so creative and do all those fun projects upholstery and decorative that she loves AFTER she makes the house liveable for her disabled husband. She could be done in less than 6 months if she chose.

First of all, I cannot stand when bloggers take a "break" as if they're overworked slaves who never get time off. Even those who take vacation usually have a plan for things to get done and if Kristi and the others actually had a community instead of the blog being their ego outlet then content wouldn't be a problem. In short (ha!), unless you're making shoes or iPhones for 20 cents a day don't whine about how overworked you are. angry

Yes. This. I really lost respect for her when she took that 2 or 3 week break last year (year before?) and needed days on end to just sit and watch netfilix because of how stressed and overworked and burned out she was. YOU DECORATE YOUR HOUSE FOR A LIVING. You get to sit at your computer, look at pretty pictures, order stuff, and spend most of your days browsing home decor and fabric stores and picking out paint colors. Your career is what other people consider a fun weekend. Everyone needs a lazy weekend here and there, so I'm not judging that, it was more the attitude behind it that bothered me.

I about spit coffee all over my computer laughing when she opened her "goals" post with "finish all areas of the house." And, as already mentioned, listed items that should take an hour (paint the front door, pick out and order window shades, make a bulletin board) as "MAJOR projects." Let's not forget that back in JULY, her husband, who I am under the impression is as patient as a saint, had said (her words): “You know when you talked about just getting things done and having a house that we can just enjoy? I really like that idea. I love the idea of being able to be in the breakfast room with you while you’re cooking meals.” He told her to take several thousand dollars extra to hire out getting the dry wall and floors done and making the house usable. Then, in August, he begged her to get the house cleaned up: "Matt finally urged me to just pick up the phone and call a cleaning service."  I know that her brain works by dividing things up room by room and she wants to be able to say "This room is done!", but I can't understand why on earth she doesn't just power through all the messy or construction type projects, get everything cleaned up and livable, and THEN focus on things like artwork, reupholstering furniture, curtains, and decorative furniture pieces. But, instead, she is stenciling mirror frames and talking about making bulletin boards and a colorful front door. I just can't wrap my mind around it.

Fa La La – I hadn't even given thought to the fact that living in a construction zone is hell on a person with a disability. A few years ago I fell, hurt myself and had to use a walker for a couple weeks. If my house had been anywhere near the shape of Kristi's I would have been in serious trouble. Not even just junk on the floor, crud that gets into your wheelchair wheels.. imagine the dust alone. No wonder he spends all his time in the "game room" it's free from the grime happening in the rest of the house.

That's one of the reasons I think trim should take 1 day per room max. Listen, she practically does trim in her sleep. Go to Lowe's or wherever, buy ALL the trim you think you'll need plus some extras, set up the saw and get it done. You'd think it's harder than that but I completed one "room" of my house with 9 pieces of custom trim in a few hours last night. The rest of the house should be done in a week.

So we're a week into the new year and Kristi has… decorated a mirror for her niece. Wow. I'm so impressed. Unless of course this is your full time job!

Jeeze, I hate to keep harping on this but I DO have a full time job (plus more) and this week I'm getting lights added to my house and I've finished 3-1/2 rooms worth of trim. What does she DO all day?

Has she done anything on that end of the year list that you helped her make?Kind of funny that I pointed that list out to ,um whoever that "new poster" is, then it ends up on the blog. Or maybe she stole your post for her review post and made another post about things to get done by the end of the year? Which she promptly avoided and got a new front door and made a mirror for another person's house. Maybe you could make an excuse post for her to copy? I have to say I really did not like the tone of the excuse post she used about why she didn't get anything done or get back to the blog when she said she would, it sounded like a lot of blaming of someone else, when the truth is that she f**ks up just fine and gets nothing done all on her own. She sounds resentful as hell tho. I feel so bad for him, that post was just humiliating.

Well let's see…

She was going to finish her kitchen cabinets (this was Dec 9th) because the TimberMate had just arrived – nope

She was going to prime and paint the living room walls – I think done?

Trim doors and windows in the breakfast room – just windows done

Finish living room draperies – nope

Paint and upholster breakfast room chairs – nope

So that's 1.5/5 stars here… 30% completion rate on projects.

Yeah, with one post last week (painting a mirror frame? really?) and nothing today, her next post is going to be some sort of justification/excuse/rant post ("I do this for me." "You don't understand, but my process works for me." "I don't care about the critics on the internet." "I feel so unmotivated right now and haven't been true to what I really want for my house.") if she follows her typical pattern.

So, I think you may have written part of her excuse post. I hope she credits you, at least. It was really rude of her to steal the others the way she did.

I like the star rating system you've implemented here. high-five

I am not very optimistic about those curtains and chairs. They will also probably been thrown into The Land of Misfit Furnishings and Craigslisted.

Christ on a cracker… we're not even 2 full weeks into the new year and screw that list! Let's sand and re-stain all the floors that are "done" so they are perfect.

Do you understand the meaning of insanity?

In response to all the comments here wondering why she doesn't make the house livable for her disabled husband – her easygoing husband totes doesn't care if she gets anything done!  Yet this is the same guy who supposedly told her he wanted the house done, gave her extra budget to hire the work out, even agreed to hire someone to chop their veggies so she'd have time to get the house done….um, ok.

And this nieces bedroom stuff? How old is this girl? I'm embarrassed for her if she is over the age of 8.  It looks childish and stupid and will be outgrown quickly.  Just what every girl dreams of, grandma and her tacky aunt going Pinterest-cray on her bedroom.

And the floors.  Well I'd rather see her stain the floors than make more curtains, hack up chairs, paint a table or upholster something that belongs in the garbage, so there is that.

Well, she said she was 10 when they started this bedroom summer of 2015 (seriously? a year and a half to do a handful pinterest projects in a kid's bedroom?), so she is probably 12 or close to it now. I can understand her wanting to finish her niece's room, as it is a project that she promised her a year and a half ago. In that time, she has watched her mom paint a mural, upholstered a headboard (a project she has done no less than 5 times for her blog, and has herself said is a "quick, easy project"), built the daybed (I will give her credit for this one legitimately being a more time consuming project), painted a desk, painted a mirror frame, and made a bulletin board.

I agree that doing the hardwood floors so that they are consistent throughout the house is actually a legitimate project. But we all see where this is going, right? She says in the post that she doesn't want to wait 24 hours between coats for the waterlox because she is impatient to get this done, even though she prefers waterlox over poly. My prediction: she is going to get them all done, and then a couple months later she is going to be talking about redoing them because she never should have let herself get impatient and now her beautiful 60 year old hardwood floors with so much character look too generic and the waterlox just lets so much more detail from the wood grain come through.
