This girl and her husband are renovating a house – the third one.  They do a lot themselves and the design is fresh and clean and simple but nice looking.  She explains things well and in a non-annoying way….for example, she doesn't call her husband Brad-dog or call brown things "mocha" all the time.  She just tells it like it is, and also runs a successful graphic design business.

I found her blog from the YHL forum. It's not really my style but I appreciate seeing her projects come together and think she has good taste. A far cry from YHL.

I've been following her since she was mentioned on the YHL forum… her style is a little too washed out and faux-rustic for my taste but I generally like her blog.

However! I'm giving her the side-eye today. She's using the same fixture in her front hall as YHL has in their upstairs hallway and it's casting horrid shadows everywhere (though not on the same scale). And while I like the way she framed out the closet door, I can't stand the manure-caked, dried-out barn wood stain on it.   I wish she would have painted it white to match the planked walls and let the black doors and drop zone be the focal point.

I like her writing style and appreciate her honesty about what things like her kitchen cost. The constant planked walls and weathering that door are not my style but I like her blog overall. That kitchen is beautiful but I can't help but think it will look dated in a few years. Very on trend.

Longtime lurker, first time poster.

I can appreciate Jenna's blog and I have actually purchased some of her prints for my house. I think the plank wall is a little overplayed in her current house, but I appreciate her honesty and insight in the projects she's posted about. I actually like that her house isn't cluttered with nonsensical objects and every inch of wall doesn't have to be covered in something (other than planks, of course). Most of the rooms are pretty simple and understated, which is somewhat refreshing in comparison to some of these other lifestyle/DIY bloggers.

Yeah she is LOVING the planks…i did think they looked nice when she did the first project with them (can't remember which project that was – whether it was the office or the ceilings….) anyway….

Other than her lack of moderation with that one thing I think it's a great blog. Of course her tastes aren't dead-on everyone else's, for every thing she does that I want to replicate she also does something that totally isn't me, but I think she uses a good mix of high quality and affordable stuff in a way that can translate for a lot of people even if you don't exactly prefer reclaimed wood or muted colors.

She just added planks to the wall in between the 2 Ikea Pax wardrobes. While it's NMS, think it looks great and you can tell its done right and not a crap job. I wish more DIY/design blogs (cough YHL cough) were like hers.

I loved her last house, and I still love her blog, but I am over the planks. I hate the bench seats that back up to the island because the cooktop is right there and I just don't see how they won't get stained. I do like the way she explains everything, and that she's honest when something doesn't go as planned.

I really like Jenna's blog and have enjoyed watching them make their current house their own. They have done so many projects in such a short amount of time – I am impressed! However, their most recent post about their master makeover has me uh. Those baskets hanging off the wardrobes are just hideous looking.

Ridiculous and so impractical, lol! And, the basket on the floor looks like a laundry basket or something – what was she thinking??

Yeah I love what she does for the most part but I haaaaate those baskets as nightstands. I would have rather she did shelves or something. As long as she likes them I guess but I just think they look cheap compared to everything else idontknow

The baskets definitely cheapen the look of the room. I love the planking in the main room, and I do like the planked wall behind the bed, but overall it is definitely plank overload.

I have the same feeling about the bench seats backing up to the island/cooktop. It's just a bad idea all around.

Overall, she's still a SOMI for me.
