Has Jenna explained why her Pinterest Fail website has Dia de los Muertos design elements? I went back and noticed this giveaway where she referred to Sugar Skulls as "playfully macabre." Did she not know what Day of the Dead is and thought it was some kind of quirky thing? If so, it's even more amusing that she posted about racist halloween costumes and appropriation the other day.

Yes, I believe that is exactly what she thought.

And the site has had the same look for over a year now, hasn't it? I can't believe she makes any money off it (not that I really have a clue how these things work).

There was a HUGE reaction to that on FB and it turned into quite a debate but she argued with everyone, saying it wasn't the Day of the Dead symbol, until finally it was too obvious she didn't know what she was talking about and I think she deleted the whole discussion.

newhere I needed a new mommy blogger to snark on once I became just plain bored with Shady Shill, so I spent my sick day reading through TW and all of her glory. Blech.
A few questions…

- Has she ever had any WK-ers come here to defend her? I can't imagine she would, but I was wondering if she was one of the *only* bloggers who hasn't had anyone stick up for her.

- Are the posts of her complaining about her children mostly on insta or her blog? I tried to find them but failed.

- Can someone explain KIPP schools to me a little more in-depth? I did some research but I didn't find anything about what really goes on other than an article bashing them that a ham posted in another thread.

- ETA: I knew there was one I was forgetting! I'm seeing a lot of hams use the word "f**kable" and I know it has to be mocking TW… has she said this before? dead

As a professional nanny myself, I've seen mothers like this who are more than willing (and eager) to throw their kids at whoever's available. It's really sad, and definitely causes attachment issues, anxieties, etc. Currently taking a child psych class for school, so TW is giving me some good fodder for my thesis chin

Also… WTF is with her bra straps showing in every. single. photo. I understand it's a theme of hers, and almost something she prides herself on, but… girlfriend. Hike those things up, tuck them under your sleeves.. We know. You have boobs. You wear bras. Most women do.

Every now and then someone will defend something she's done but thus far none of her friends/fans have ever came here to defend her.  They will jump to her defense on instagram though (there's a few friends that defend her there but they've never came here).

- Are the posts of her complaining about her children mostly on insta or her blog? I tried to find them but failed.

The early ones about T1 have been deleted from her blog in "The Great Internet Scrub" as we call it.  Check out the wiki for some of the info from those posts.

The stuff on Instagram is more passive-aggressive slams – probably since his and her family follow her there.  There's one that comes to mind from about a year ago where she was upset that T1 didn't want to go to the forest with her for pictures because it scares him.  She went anyway and left him napping in the car and he woke up and was terrified.  Her sister also joined in on complaining about what a bummer T1 is. Looks like her sister deleted her comments about T1 after it was discussed here how awful the comment was.  I swear there was another picture of the forest with her mentioning he was asleep in the car and people were kind surprised she left him in the car alone while she went on a photo hike far enough away from the car that he wouldn't be able to see her but I don't see that image still there.  http://iconosquare.com/p/925688770298030424_672985

There's subtle digs like that everywhere about T1.  There isn't as many about T2 but I think her time will come as she gets older/sassier.

- Can someone explain KIPP schools to me a little more in-depth? I did some research but I didn't find anything about what really goes on other than an article bashing them that a ham posted in another thread.

I can't really answer that one – basically it's a longer day and very strict school that is aimed at lesser privileged kids so they get a better education than they would normally get from public schools.  Hopefully another ham can help there.

Last year Jenna cut her hair off and thought the lack of long tresses would mean that guys see her as less f**kable.  http://thatwifeblog.com/2014/09/02/long-hair-and-short-youth/

She was mormon so since she was repressed by the magic underwear she now flaunts her previously forbidden bra straps whenever possible.

What's the story behind the weekly baths? Does she really only wash the kids 1x a week?

I don’t bathe my kids every day (The Dirt on Clean is partially to blame for this, at least I’m not putting it off for years at a time like parents used to do with their children)

I was wondering about the "f**kability" theme too but didn't feel like trudging through her blog to investigate. Is it me or is her blog hard to navigate for reading past entries? It just seems really tedious to have to use that pulldown menu for each month of entries.

She also said in an instagram that Sunday is bath night and when prodded she said that she doesn't bathe them daily and I think cited The Dirt on Clean again.  She said that usually it's 1-2x a week if they are really dirty.

To answer the KIPP question:

KIPP is a chain of charter schools started quite awhile before the current charter craze. They are typically in poor or high needs communities and operate under a 'no excuses' methods of discipline and instruction. The school day is longer, begins earlier in the summer, and often includes saturdays and/or summer school.

They have been credited with high acheivement in their schools, but also criticized for "creaming" and "counseling out" (ie, they take only the best kids to start with and encourage those that can't make the grade to leave).

There is also fair bit of concern about no excuses resulting in excessive punishments/consequences for kids, not to mention the rote learning that often accompanies that model (like chanting answers in unision and not allowing for free discussion).

I've got a host of concerns with their staffing being primarily Teach For America kids, meaning they are in for only two years in most cases, worked like mules, lack experience or training wiht high needs communities, and very often leave as soon as their committment is up. This means that leadership is often young and inexperienced, their is little senior or mentor staffing with volumes of experience. I'm not arguing that experience makes you great (in fact, a few years ago I had to put one of my most experienced teachers, with two decades of experience on an improvement plan, follow the tenure procedure and ultimately give her the axe).

My fear for T1 in that school is that we've been given the impression, rightly or wrongly no one knows, that he is highly sensitive. A strict environment like those found at KIPP schools could cause him distress (there are stories of nervous breakdowns in Ks and 1s in these schools). However, given his incredibly lack of structure in the rest of his life, he could also thrive and find comfort in a strict consistency. I also don't know anything about KIPP in RWC; it seems atypical to the NYC KIPPs but without demographic data, that KIPP wouldn't provide anyway, we can't say much about it.
