I'm not a fan of Lily, she seems stiff and cold on camera. So I'm not subscribed to her and I don't tend to notice the similar posts. She's massively into the more expensive ranges and products, does anyone know if she comes from money? Can you afford that much Chanel and Diptyque through blogging?  Do your reckon there's any issue with Anna winning best beauty blog on bloglovin? catfight

I like Anna a lot. She's funny and down to earth. We have quite similar styles, quite simple, and it's nice to see someone admit that they can't do eyeliner either. I've found a few clothing and jewellery brands through her that I hadn't known about before. I also like the fitness things she talks about.

I'm pretty certain that Lily lives at home with her parents and doesn't pay any rent. No wonder she can afford to buy all that crap.

I quite like Anna too. She very minimal with her makeup for someone who owns so much of it so I do wish sometimes she would be more experimental with it, purely because she's so lucky to be gifted so much of it that I think it is a waster opportunity otherwise. I don't know – I think I like her vlogs more. They're kind of boring, but she seems so genuinely nice, and her and Mark seem so happy together, so I keep watching.

I really like lily, particularly in her more relaxed vlogs. Aside from the shockingly cringey starbucks sponsored 'outfits in the park' video (inserts of frappucinos?!) I really like her videos, her style. She doesnt talk down to the camera or try and be funny – all very straightforward.

Anna I used to enjoy equally but since starting the vlogs she grates on me – mainly the constant "ive got a really busy one today guys.. I've got to get my eyebrows threaded, write a blog post then pick something up from the post office…" I don't care so much that they literally do nothing and get paid ridiculous amounts but please have some self awareness about it!! Do they not realise most viewers actually have jobs and real lives? I find it a bit offputting.

Yeah totally agree with Anna being grating…I hate the 'presenter' style voice she uses with emphasis on random words and strange pauses in the middle of sentences. Also the repetitive nature of the vlogs, she's always 'picking something up' I.e. buying something but doesn't want to make it obvious that her life and career revolves around shopping.

I like both well enough, although I don't bother to read either of their blogs anymore and just stick to watching their (beauty) videos. Even then, the non-beauty videos are just…silly. Can you imagine walking down a busy street or going grocery shopping while holding your camera out in front of you to film? Super cringey and dumb. While I think Anna is lovely, her desire to sound so "sassy beauty mag" when writing is what made me want to skip reading her stuff. And the fact that she constantly writes c'mon as "common". Like, 'common, guys!' No Anna. Stop it. Learn that thing! I wonder how long the whole beauty blogger/vlogger bubble will last?

Facially, Lily has always looked a bit like Amy Winehouse to me. Not in terms of personal style, lifestyle choices, beehives etc. etc., just her colouring, eye shape, nose and lips. Does anyone else see it?

I wish she'd mix it up a bit with her makeup and hairstyle. I think she could look quite striking with a simple updo and some lighter eye makeup.

I have just seen a few of Lily's vlogs and she is not very compelling to watch. She seems really standoffish and almost snooty – it doesn't make you want to watch her at all. I'd rather watch Zoella and her manic happy face (even though I am much older than her demographic).

And I cannot take my eyes off Vivianna's crooked teeth – they are rather distracting! Sorry!

I had a dream last night that I was a beauty vlogger and had to go on a "work trip" with Lily and some other girl. We were staying in a crappy hotel with a mini-fridge full of junk food snacks, and I was worried that if I ate them I wouldn't fit into the dress I had to wear the next day, but the others didn't care. The company we were "working" for gave us purses with little locks, which I thought was dumb. Lily was very calm and in control of everything and was all into locking her free purse. YouTube is destroying my mind.

To post something slightly serious, it bugs me perhaps more than it should that Lily and Amelia Liana, who are both Jewish, do all this OTT Christmas stuff and never once mention their own background. I get that their job is to shill Christmas gift sets, and I get that lots of people come from mixed families and do Christmas at home for that other part of the family. And that's fine. But AFAIK they've never once mentioned it and they seem to go out of their way not to. I think it's important, since so many young people around the world watch these women and it can go a long way towards fighting prejudice if kids know that someone they admire is Jewish (or whatever different ethnicity that they might get a negative message about at home.) KathleenLights is really positive about being Cuban-American, and Shirley B Eniang talks a lot about her Ghanian and (Nigerian? I forget) heritage, and that probably exposes some young viewers to cultures they don't know much about. Plus if anyone could turn Hanukkah from a nothing holiday to a money-making extravaganza, it's beauty vloggers! Eight friggin days of gift sets!shutup

That's a really good point. I suppose it's possible that they just don't identify strongly with their Jewish heritage, but it also makes me wonder if they were told by Gleam to downplay it, which is a total missed opportunity, as you said.

This made me LOL. They're totally mi$$ing the boat!

Resurrecting this thread because of today's teamed up videos…..

I want to start by saying I really hated Lily last year, then actually watched a few videos all the way through and I enjoyed her so I subscribed. Vlogmas was great, I felt like she opened up way more to her viewers which made her "main" videos even better.

And then… this. drool I truly do understand it's her JOB. But she has said countless times she won't put a video out she doesn't like and I'm guessing even she was unhappy about this one but because she was in a contract that included Anna, she probably had to put it up.

The comments on the video are terrible (to her) too. I don't really blame her, I think the whole beauty industry has just decided that they're going to force products on YouTubers for revenue gains. I actually preferred it when they said it was a sponsored video, rather than stating -ad.. but I guess people like EssieButton screwed that up for everyone. clap

Lily's detox video was such a fail. I never really watch her – she just seems whiney and lazy. She's trying to make her channel happen, and she was lucky to be able to leech onto some more famous Youtubers to give her a fan base, but her true colors are showing big time. She's so unoriginal and incapable. rolleyes

I can't warm up to Lilly. She comes across so serious and a bit snobby.
I warmed to her a little with Vlogmas but gone off her again. Anna does seem sweeter though.

I just saw this video and totally agree – it is absolutely awful; the second she starts talking it is like she is just reading out some preformulated advertising text, it just sounds so fake!

I wanted to check out some of the bad comments which she definitely deserved to get – but it said that comments were deactivated for this video ?! Can you just do that when you don't like what has been commented?
