Everything about this whole announcement and miscarriage just seems so weird and fake. I watched their video this morning (which had 722,000 views and has now inflated to over 2 million) and just had a weird feeling, the crying didn't seem genuine but I thought it was just me. Now that I see the other comments, I feel a little validated. I know that miscarriage should be something openly discussed and brought out of the shadows of "things we don't talk about" but I can't help but think this whole thing is just kinda… morbid. I feel like a voyeur after watching these videos.

I didn't watch the miscarriage announcement, but I watched the pregnancy announcement video, and my takeaway was, if this is real, this woman is a total idiot. If it is fake, she is okay with allowing herself to be portrayed as a total idiot for the sake of internet fame. She has two children already… I just don't understand being omg wut I'm preggers when she's a seasoned baby-haver by this point. Whether planned or not, if you're two weeks late in your childbearing years, you take a pregnancy test — and most women take them LONG before that. If that video was real, at what point would she have decided that she needed to take a test?

Oh yeah, and the full face of makeup first thing in the morning is a bit odd.

She said in the miscarriage video that she didn't want to take a test yet because she ALWAYS feels like she's pregnant.

Riiiight.

So, you didn't want to disappoint yourself, but your husband didn't give a f**k and did it anyway?

Actually, I can believe that. The man seems like a psycho.

Also, her whole "NO, NO, IT'S A JOKE, OMG, NO… DID YOU TAKE A DROPPER OUT OF THE TOILET?"

Really? Unless they use the dropper to pull urine from the toilet all the damn time, that is one very amazing guess. drool

That's interesting that she said she always feels like she's pregnant because in the first video she said she really hadn't been having any symptoms except fatigue.

Lying ass liar. But, as usual with anything that goes viral, the majority of people (some dumb, some who just look for good in everyone) will just keep on believing their stupid, insulting story.

I definitely think the pregnancy announcement thing was fake. But the miscarriage? I would hate to think that someone would fake a miscarriage. Like why?! But there is something very suspect about all of this.

And man are they narcissistic. "good looking couple" And why quit a nursing job to focus on vlogging? Isn't nursing only 3 days a week? What?! There is no way their youtube videos could be that lucrative right?

Ugh. These two. I didn't really have anything against them, but they didn't particularly appeal to me because they just seemed a bit too precious for my tastes. But this whole debacle…groan. Before I get into what bugs me most, I'll WK a couple of points.

1. Not taking the test even though she's two weeks late — When I was trying for my first baby, I had a late first-trimester miscarriage, followed by a "chemical pregnancy" (period came 3 days after a strong positive test), and so when I tried for the third time, I deliberately chose NOT to take a test right when my period was due (as I had the first two times). I figured that if my period came a week late, I could tell myself that it was just "late", and I could remain blissfully ignorant to the fact that I had conceived since I wouldn't have taken a pregnancy test. I wanted to spare myself a third ride on that emotional roller coaster. So I ended up not taking a pee test until I was 12 days late.

I think this is what Nia was doing. She's probably had late periods before and got her hopes up because of it, only to be disappointed.

2. Guessing that he put the dropper in the toilet — Well, he's showing her a positive pregnancy test and insisting that it's hers. And they both know that she doesn't flush the toilet at night. IDK, this just doesn't seem hard to figure out.

BUT NOW FOR THE CRITICISM…

I don't think the taking of the test was staged. I think, as someone suggested above, that Sam decided for himself that it was time to find out if she was pregnant (and time to boost viewership), essentially ignoring his wife's desire to spare herself unnecessary disappointment. I think he's selfish and extremely immature and he was going to make a viral video at any cost. Nia acted super happy because Good Christian.

As for the miscarriage video, everything comes off as so forced. I can speculate on the reasons for Nia's awkward crying, but the thing that really bugged me about it was HIM. All his talk about being God's light to the world and whatthef**kever. What a narcissist. Their story is not special. It happens ALL THE TIME. Miscarriages that happen this early happen because the embryo has a chromosomal problem that is incompatible with life. The body gets rid of it. It sucks, and it's sad, and even though the pregnancy was never viable, you already started imagining a little baby in there, and that hope is taken away from you. I know. Have your cry. You're entitled to it. But how is showcasing this shit in a youtube video making you a light to the world? There are millions of miscarriage stories and support groups all over the internet. The world was not living in darkness about this before Sam and Nia's miscarriage. God is not using you "in a huge way." Give me a break. rolleyes

I've been shocked to learn what youtubers and instagrammers can make. For some, it is very, very lucrative. It is amazing (and sad) what people will do for money.

I didn't watch the announcement video, because frankly, I don't care. But I did watch the miscarriage video.

I'm not going to say that it is a total lie, because I can't know that for sure, but after hearing how quickly everything happened coupled with life experience, all I could think of when I watched the video is:

The more I read about them, the more disgusting and fake I think they are. He creeps me out bad. He put in his two week notice before the miscarriage video, he was counting on going viral again …. so be ready for more bullshit "Gotta stay famous" stunts to come.

And Christians? Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Bible frown upon not being humble, about boasting and wanting attention for being pious, about using religion as an excuse for wanting people to worship and praise you, about being vain? Basically, their Christianity seems to be as fake as their videos.

How I hate what Youtube has become …. just another vehicle for narcissists.

I saw a video about them "having a fight". It was as ridiculous as I expected. More fakery fake and oh-so-twee.

GOMI, gross couple. And stop paddling your kids (I read about a video in which she keeps a paddle in her purse; she took it out to show the camera).

I work for a YouTube network and it's pretty disgusting how much these people are making for doing NOTHING. Daily vlogging can pull in tons of cash if you get at least 100k views a video along with sponsored deals. Last I checked, the pregnancy announcement video had 11 million views, so they probably pulled anywhere from 20-40k on that video alone. They also gained about 200k subscribers from that video, so those people are now going and watching all their old videos and bumping up the views. Compare that to the 5-10k a month they were making before (not including sponsors and merch) and that's enough to quit your job over. Personally, I wouldn't give up healthcare with 2 small children but I'm also not trying to be internet famous.
