Ok so thoughts….

They actually were pregnant/miscarried but fudged timeline and the videos…

Soo, they find out they are pregnant and want to do something that will go viral. They come up with the video they do and before they can post video she has a miscarriage, they decide to post the video anyway and it definitely goes viral and is bigger than expected. So the next day they basically just film a reactions video of footage pre-miscarriage, then they realize shit is getting out of hand and now that they are filming in real time (where everything else was "old footage") they dont want to pretend so they announce miscarriage two days later… They really have had a few days to deal with this, hence the "shock" and "tears" dont quite seem as real and "fresh". Plus, with all their new subscribers and fame they want to make good, fun content so they ust jump right back into "real life".

So glad I am not alone.  I watched the miscarriage video yesterday like o_0 because it just felt so fake and forced.  It felt like a fake, pro-life, Republican stunt.

(Just editing to add… I got no beef with normal Republicans.  In this instance I meant like… the wacky kind.  You know what I'm talking about.  Ted Cruz style.)

I haven't read the entire thread, but I saw the video and I couldn't believe how dark the line was. If she was only 2 weeks late, wouldn't the line be a lot more faint than that? I just remember when my friend was TTC, she tested after waiting 2 weeks (after IUI) and it was faintest of faint lines. The line on that chick's test showed up immediately and was the darkest pink. I think it points to timeline fudging.

I tested after one week, and there was no faintness to my line/plus/yes, so it might just depend on the brand of test. My question about all this is how they knew the sex? The tests I've seen aren't for use until six weeks after a missed period (which would be ten weeks pregnant, not six).

I think WheresMyCoffee's theory could very possibly be accurate. It was my second guess, after what I posted on P1, that she just hadn't taken a test yet in order to avoid THIS EXACT thing because it's happened before. The "I always think I'm pregnant" thing means she does pay attention to her symptoms, does notice when she's late, etc. She may have a lot of early miscarriages, and she's just stopped telling him about them if she ever did at all, and has stopped letting herself think about them that way. (They haven't grieved them together–right, that's the point of waiting to take a test. So you don't get your emotions involved.) Hell, she may have already started spotting by the time he told her she was pregnant, and that contributed to her weird, delayed reaction.

But anyway, if it's not just him being completely oblivious and narcissistic and her playing along, then I think what went down is what WheresMyCoffee suggested. It seems a little OTT to manufacture a pregnancy (and miscarriage) when you could…just wait until you do get pregnant. (And in terms of being "viral" and staying at that level of subscribers, it would definitely be in their best interest to stay pregnant so people can play along at home and watch the miracle of birth, which you know they would certainly vlog.) So I would bet that if they're faking, then it's because things went down in a different order than they presented, and certainly the miscarriage announcement video was forced in some way. Whether it was just that performing grief is unnatural to them, or that they'd really already processed it and were trying to dredge it all back up for more view$, who knows.

I feel so much better in knowing that I'm not alone in thinking this is a scam of some kind.  I watched both videos….in the pregnancy announcement one, I actually had to STOP watching because of so much second hand embarrassment.  Like, they are seriously the worst actors ever.  I don't believe for one second that she didn't know she was pregnant before that video, and him, too.

As having had a miscarriage myself, it's gross knowing they would choose this experience to try and make money.  People who claim they are OMG so Christian are the worst, IMHO. "So thankful we can use this to help others" my ass! pageviews

Two weeks after conception, the line may or may not be faint, but two weeks after your period is due (I.e. FOUR weeks after conception), the line should be nice and dark for most pregnancies.

I took my test on the day I was supposed to start (usually I would start during the night), after I had already peed twice and it was a great big WHAM of a positive. Within seconds. So I guess it's somewhat possible to get that result from watered down urine, but I still find it highly unusual.

I couldn't even watch the miscarriage video. Her crying seemed so fake and forced to me that it turned my stomach.

Oh I hate these two. They have the most off putting, over the top, obnoxious personalities. I especially hate the way the dad is so "on" and constantly mugging. Gross.

OH HELLLLL NO I JUST WATCHED THE MISCARRIAGE VIDEO AND I AM FEELING RRRAAAGGGEEYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!

That is the fakes bullshit nonsense I have ever seen. What? The? F**k? First of all, after you have a full term baby you can breathe again because the baby was pushing on your lungs. After a miscarriage its not like that at all. Bullshit fake lady! And its all – well maybe I can help others, and now I can relate to you… what? I've had three miscarriages, and my bullshit detector went off listening to this.

Oh, and the one single Sinead O'Connor tear. Whatever b***h. Oooooh, man… gross!

Nope. I call mega bullshit. These two are beyond fake and completely unlikable.

This sounds feasible. I've also hear people posit that maybe they did multiple takes of the miscarriage video to get the 'right' level of emotion, which then just looked over the top and ridiculous. (I would be like this…I'm normally pretty stoic when it comes to death and loss. If I tried to force tears, I'd look like just as much of a fool as these two.)

I'm not going to make judgement on whether they were actually pregnant or not. But I totally think that the parents did this to boost interest in their channel before the dad quit his job to vlog full time. Most of their other (non-viral) videos were getting about 30,000 views per video. Even if they're getting $5 per 1,000 views (which appears to be slightly above average, based on a super-quick Google search), that comes out to about $55,000/year if they post every day. Not bad money, but not 'quit your job and make the vlog your sole source of support for your family' money.

I still say that their obsession over the views/subscribers/'going viral' throughout all this is what doesn't sit well with me. It would have been way more real to say that they lost the baby, we're going to take the week and spend time with family, we'll be back on Monday.' These videos of everything as normal smacks of riding their 15 minutes to the bank.

That, and their insistence on repeating the phrase 'empty womb'. Who talks about their miscarriage that way?
