The Art of Crotch Shots meowed
Does nobody here have a messy house? My house is constantly messy. I have 4 kids and there is always something out of place, laundry forever in baskets, toys on the floor, etc.?

My kitchen is clean from bedtime to breakfast, never completely clean during the day, it's not worth it.

Actually picking up all day isn't how I want to spend my life. And why do they need help? It's not like their house is dirty, it looks lived in to me….

The Idaho house they live in now is nothing compared to the way they used to live. The last house they lived in in L.A was disgusting. The carpets which were supposed to be white were streaked with dirt. Garbage and dirty clothes all over the floor…

There is a huge difference between dirt and mess. The new house is messy, oldhouse was dirty.

This might be a little off topic, but has anyone watched the Samika vlog?  They met the Shaytards and now I think the husband (Sam) works with them.  Just wondering what anyone else might think about them.

They are hands down one of the top 5 most irritating vloggers I have seen on youtube. I have watched about 10 of their vlogs tops, and they are so arrogant, truly full of themselves. What is even more pathetic is that I noticed that most of the other family vloggers I checked out bow down to them like they are Jesus incarnate, maybe Joe Smith in this case. I don't mean to offend anyone but the main reason I refuse to watch us because I don't wish to support the Mormon agenda via Shay Butler with his unjustified overstuffed wallet and fake family show. Mitt Romney has done enough offshire swindling for all of Utah and Idaho to last a lifetime.

They just announced that on Shays birthday they will stop vlogging/posting any videos for a whole year.

Thoughts? That's pretty crazy considering they have been vlogging more or less every single day for the past 8 years. Most of their kids were born on camera and no nothing else.

From todays video….

We started the #SHAYTARDS YouTube channel on October 2, 2008! This coming October 2 will be the 8 year anniversary of its creation. WHO KNEW IT WOULD TURN INTO THIS! We are going to commit to doing 5 more months of EVERY SINGLE DAY vlogging and then on March 5, 2017 on Shay's 37th birthday we will shut the SHAYTARDS channel down for 1 year.. NO VIDEOS! In an effort to try to maintain a "normal" life in which time Shay will take a year off the internet to recalibrate and internalize all that he has learned in this whirlwind of a journey before deciding on the next amazing adventure to embark on. I CAN'T WAIT!

Well, technically only two of their five kids have been born while they were vlogging. Emmi (Babytard) was already born when they started.

Honestly, I am happy for them. They deserve the break. I feel bad that a bunch of their fans are now turning against them because they want to take a year off. "We're the reason why you have that huge house!" Ummm… no. They can afford the house because Disney bought Maker.

I'm going to be sad to not see the daily vlogs but Colette might be uploading more to her channel and still plans on doing The Mom's View. They will be in the background on his sister and brothers' vlogs too, I am sure.

It's not like they're ending forever.

(I love the Shaytards. I don't care if you make fun of me for it.)

Yes they can afford the house because Disney bought Maker but if not for Vlogging and their fans, they wouldn't have the popularity to gain a place with Maker and then later along with others, getting Disney's attention therefore leading them to their fame ultimately.

I don't disagree they should have time off, just pointing out that they truly would not be where they are if they wouldn't of started vlogging, getting picked up by Maker then Disney.   I do not like or dislike them. I am rather indifferent on them. I don't think people should dictate their lives but I can see why some might have felt slighted after they "made it" and then left them behind. :D

This will give them time to work on other things. For all we know, they will still do the podcast. And they have their clothing company and other business stuff, like the ski resort they bought.

Yep. I agree it's not like they are falling off the face of the earth. They will be around here and there and Casey and his wife as well as their sister will still vlog too and I am sure from time to time they will pop in.

Holy shit… does anyone follow the sister Carlie and her channel WhatsUpWoods? Her husband is a f**king douchebag who doesnt believe in discrimination or white privledge and went on a twitter rant saying he hopes PP is defunded so he doesnt have to pay for anyones abortions…. He is.. I dont even know. He has no just uploaded a video called "Jacksons story. we are not victims" and says he grew up poor, his father committed suicide (which is obviously horrible) but none of it matters because you just have to better yourself. Someone had a screenshot a while ago of  a confederate flag hanging in his garage as well as another screenshot of him reading a book by a David Duke.

This is going to be long. sfun_blahblah This is not meant to be taken as a defense of Jackson or Carlie, just my take on the situation.

First, I was not aware of the Confederate flag or the David Duke stuff, which is a shame because that is now going to affect my opinion of Jackson… who I do like. I like when he talks about finance and stuff, okay? And he seems genuinely good for Carlie, and he loves Cooper, and blah blah blah. Carlie drives me crazy most of the time because she comes across as vapid and has no substance. That said, I know a lot of people think Jackson is also unbearable.

I did watch the video, although I'm under the impression that Carlie is the one who had the idea to do the video, because I think she's also the one who manages the channel and edits the videos and so on. I also agree with part of what Jackson said in the video–he was given a shitty hand, and he worked hard to overcome it (I wouldn't say Carlie was given a shitty hand, just made some life choices that had crappy consequences). It is also all too easy to succumb to the so-called "victim mentality" and just accept the lot you've been given and not strive to do better for yourself or your family. It is very draining just to get out of bed and figure out what to do to better your life sometimes. I was there recently. I actually think that Shay, Carlie's brother, is struggling with this too, and he's got seemingly everything.

But I know that seeking to better yourself and taking the steps, whether it be teaching yourself how to pass the CFA exam (which is f**king HARD), taking night classes on a restaurant worker's wages, or simply going for a walk every day–sometimes that is not enough. Sometimes you can only get so far.

The most annoying thing about the video to me was Jackson repeatedly saying "We're winners. I'm a winner. She's a winner." I do disagree with the white privilege comment that someone directed at Jackson (not you, WheresMyCoffee, but the first person who jumped down his throat on Twitter)–he complained about being stranded at the Ritz-Carlton, which yes, has privilege tied to it, but I wouldn't say it's white privilege. I would say that privilege is tied to class. And I also think it was meant to be taken in jest, and somebody stretched it out of proportion.

Am I denying that discrimination and white privilege exist? No. Do I agree with Jackson's politics? Not really. The rant video doesn't really change my opinion of him… although the David Duke book might. puke

I'll see myself out.

No, no. Dont see yourself out.

I call it white privilege because he is saying no matter your race you should be able to overcome your obstacles and not play the victim but he doesnt understand that for some people their race IS the obstacle and they literally cannot walk down the street without being harassed or questioned or you know, SHOT.

He says that you have to work hard etc but his wife who is sitting right next to him was handed EVERYTHING she has. She used to be a supply teacher without any credentials because her mom got her the job. She shuttled herself and Cooper between Casey, Shay and her parents houses up until a few years ago. All her youtube jobs and everything that has come from that is because of Shay. SHE would be the person Jackson is belittling "just a hairdresser" and on food stamps, WIC etc if it wasnt for her family.

I think the reason people jumped down his throat about the Ritz comment is because it is just one of many. He goes on Twitter rants quite often.  and again, he has shown himself to be racist.

I don't think Carlie has really ever had to work for anything–not hard, at least. I didn't know she was a teacher just because her mom took care of it though. She drives me nuts because half the time she'll talk about something like she knows what she's talking about, but she'll completely flub on terminology that is totally simple. OR–and this is totally stupid, but I want to flip a table when she refers to a hood on a sweater as a "beanie." All hats are beanies to her. It's totally stupid but it makes me crazy. Of course she doesn't work hard. All she posted before she got pregnant was videos about makeup and now that she's pregnant, all her videos are about being pregnant. Videos she doesn't even try to edit well–editing the kind of videos she makes is not that hard, but her editing is not good.

Carlie has never really had to better herself or work hard. She lucked out because she was born into a family that cares about each other and values and enjoys their time together. Carl and Laurie seem like the kind of people who would crawl through broken glass to help their children. Shay and Casey seem like they'd give Carlie the shirts off their backs if she needed them. Because of Shay, her channel was able to get a lot of exposure so she could amass a good following. She wasn't dealt a shitty hand–she just happened to get knocked up and married a lying, cheating amateur baseball player who ended up leaving her. Good thing she eventually found good ol' Dale, because she's set for life now.

That said, I think nobody–nobody–wants to admit they've been handed anything in life. Even someone with no work ethic is going to say they work hard. I work with people who put in the bare minimum, sleep on the job, and still complain that they're being screwed by our bosses and that they're worth more than they're being paid. Meanwhile, my boss and I think that they're lucky to be protected by a union and that their stepdad got them the job in the first place. There is nothing wrong with accepting help when you need it. There's nothing wrong with getting government assistance when and if you need it, but there's sadly a stigma around it. (I won't get into people who are on government assistance and then just end up working the system, because they do exist, but it's not pertinent to this conversation)

I *hate* admitting to people that I have no student debt from my undergrad because my parents were savers and worked hard and managed somehow to pay for my degree and my sister's. I hate it because privilege just isn't cool but I have to own my privilege or else someone will call me out for it. Yes, I tried to repay my parents by working hard in college to make good grades and pay my own rent, and I feel guilty as f**k that I don't use my degree at my job, but I know so many people are not as lucky as I am who are drowning in student loan debt.

This totally got derailed… what was my point? Shit.

I don't mean to be shitting on Carlie; I don't think she's a bad person. I don't even think Jackson is a bad person (yet. David Duke books pukethe American white supremacist Mein Kampf puke). Nobody wants to be told to check their privilege though, and nobody wants to admit their privilege after being told to check it.
