Two total SOMI you tubers who are vegan are : WIFELIFE (Rhian) and Karrissa Pukas. Both are not primarily food videos, but use vegan beauty products, clothing, and do some food info. I like the variety.

Eugh, sorry, going to have to disagree with you on Karissa being a SOMI.

I used to follow her when I was heavily into beauty on YT and she really grates me. She is quite snarky and rude to followers and she is always taking 'breaks' from uploading, accompanied by vagueposts about how hard her life is.

The fact that she pitches herself as a cruelty-free vegan but then goes and uses products from brands that test (Maybelline, MAC, all sorts – just check the downbar in her makeup vids) goes to show that her veganism, at least when it comes to beauty, is quite hollow.

I'm slowly moving towards cruelty-free beauty myself and it's hard. I don't want to just throw out my extensive collection of products from brands that test (including pricey high-end ones) but Karissa uses these products either purchased with her own money or sent to her by PRs. So if it's free, or the 'in' product of the day, it's ok to use non-CF products – when her brand relies heavily on being CF? It doesn't sit right with me.

I have zero interest in learning about veganism from someone who doesn't appreciate the followers who are the reason she can afford to live the way she does, and who can put her morals aside for the sake of free products.

I agree, I just discovered her the other day… she's alright, I'll probably keep watching her. I like her vegan taste test videos.

I'm vegan myself and oh my GOD, some of the vegans in the youtube community are so cringe worthy.

Let's start off with happy healthy vegan, or what i like to call them, happy creepy vegan. When i first started watching them i thought they were.. strange but alright? but as i continued watching they just started turning more and more into stuck up, creepy assholes ( heyyyy this is happyyyy healthyyyyy vegannnnn..eek ) and then there newest video replying to Unnatural vegan? straight up assholes, they're starting to give off that vibe " we obviously know what we're talking about and you're all wrong only listen to us!! ) almost like the " fame " is starting to go to there heads. Also her music, super. f**king. weird.

OMG Thank you for making this thread! I have been dying to express my feelings on Healthy Happy Vegan for some time now, only they will immediately erase any comment on their video that isn't to their liking.

Okay! So now I can let it fly!

These two! LOL!!! Do they think they are sexy or what? They are so freaking gross! Their attitude is one of being the coolest, sexiest people on the planet and they couldn't be farther from the truth. They need to get over themselves. I watch their videos and cringe. It's like a train wreck,,, you just can't look away. Phew, I feel better now. I've been holding that in for a long time!

They really DO think they're so cool and " hot " and what they say is right/goes etc. They're just so creepy and full of themselves. I don't know why everyone loves them puke

I love her taste test videos (and how she isn't too holy and omgchemicallysensitive to eat the occasional vegan junk food) but I had to eyeroll hard when she said she knows veganism has given her a fast metabolism because she can see the food she eats, uh, completing the digestive process within hours. (I think it was in the "how to look like a Victoria's Secret model" video – spoiler alert, the secret to looking like a lingerie model is veganism.) I'm not a doctor but I'm pretty sure that passing food that is undigested enough to be easily identifiable within a couple hours of eating it is a sign of malabsorption, not a fast metabolism.

Anyone else feel like HighCarbHannah is veering right into eating disorder territory? (Not the same orthorexia and obsession as most people in that whole community have, but like, will actually develop anorexia nervosa and become very underweight in the next year.)

She lost a lot of weight, she is thin now, and she is still doing all these challenges like "no overt fats" and "potato island" and reporting on her inches lost as though she still needs to lose weight as quickly as possible. They also recently bought a scale for her potato challenge. (She's eating nothing but potatoes and non-starchy veg, I think for 30 days. She's been doing it for a week and already looks gray.) Having been there myself, I think she is completely in the place of enjoying the weight loss way too much and not knowing when it's time to quit. When your life just gets better and better as you lose more weight, common when you start from a place of being overweight and depressed about it, sometimes you don't want it to stop. Plus, she's in a community on the internet that really values thinness and claims that if you're eating correctly you'll be as lean as Freelee (who is both genetically and surgically gifted in terms of body shape and comp).

Adding to clarify: When I talk about HCH's community, I mean specifically the high carb low fat vegans on youtube, NOT veganism as a whole, which I totally support.

I think if Derek was doing it with her, there would a greater danger but I think she will stop after the 30 days or at the very least rein it in a bit (I hope she does anyway).

I think she's thin enough already, but she's pointed out the parts of her body she wants to slim down and said that with consistent bike riding that would happen naturally. Now she seems to have given up riding at all unless it's to the store.

I think they are both just really bored so Hannah is doing all these challenges to use up the time?

edited because I spelt Derek's name wrong.

I think being part of the hclf community is pretty key in her behaviour. She looks like a healthy, fit person but being 'lean' is like …. the holy grail. So even though she looks good now, she's gonna do whatever it takes to look like freelee, even if that entails eating potatoes for thirty days. Everything about the hclf community just seems so f**king disordered to me. I truly worry about the young women watching these people and thinking that what they're doing is healthy.

She has a video up now complaining about how "annoying" it is that people are posting that she's orthorexic and obsessed with weight loss. She says she isn't doing the potato deal to lose weight – but a) that's kind of irrelevant, because restricting for the thrill of restricting is no less disordered, and b) why is she updating on her weight lost and inches lost if it isn't about weight? She's presenting it as a weight thing and shouldn't complain when people interpret it that way. She also says she's so used to eating that way now that the idea of eating different foods at different meals like oatmeal at breakfast, rice at lunch, and potatoes at dinner is overwhelming and she only wants to eat potatoes. Helloooooo. That is the high of restriction. (I do think she probably doesn't come from a background of being restrictive or disordered and so she has no idea what's happening to her.)

Also, Derek's view is that Hannah is super relaxed because she still eats condiments and isn't as high strung about it as some people on other HCLF Vegan forums. And we are all over-complicating health and weight loss by thinking that eating foods other than potatoes and non-starchy veg is necessary, and we just think it's a big deal to eat potatoes and vegetables because we're brainwashed or something.

Today HCH says that she misses oatmeal and rice after saying 2 days ago that she couldn't imagine eating oatmeal and rice instead of potatoes. Which isn't unusual for Hannah because she contradicts herself all the time.

I just thought of another one, Banana tv!

I don't know what it is but there attitude and vibe they give off is incredibly off putting. They almost talk down to everyone in there video's and talk as if they're experts/know everything. mixed-smiley-030
