Just…ugh. I don't get the whole wedding hysteria culture going on these days anyway, but this site makes my hair itch. I get being excited about your wedding but there are women on there celebrating their 5th anniversary and 2nd kid who are still doing recaps of their proposals and weddings! Seriously ladies, if you have been married over a year and still have nothing else of value to talk about you need to evaluate your life.

Anyway, I'm sure there are other wedding blogs you will all post about in here but Weddingbee will never cease to squick me out.

Wedding Bee started when I was wedding planning, and I thought it was absolutely terrible and hokey back then.

WeddingBee is about 30% really interesting wedding commentary/advice, and 70% batshit craziness and narcisism run amok.  I had to stop reading it well before my wedding happened because I could not take the unpredictability of the crazy jumping up in my face.

Weddingbee pops up in my google searches quite a bit, since I'm getting married in June and I've done quite a few searches recently. People do seem pretty crazy on it, but then again I haven't read it too much. What's different about wedding bee vs. the knot message boards? Both seem equally cray to me.

Also I'd just like to say that I enjoy doing the little math problems at the bottom of GOMI posts now.

Weddingbee terrifies me. I'm in that weird in-between stage where my SO and I know we're getting married "someday" but aren't officially engaged and one I clicked over to the "Waiting" boards for lols and got sucked in for an hour. b***hES BE CRAY.

The thing I hated about WeddingBee was all the puppies and sunshine and rainbows.  You're pretty much never allowed to say anything critical to anyone, ever.  Crazy brides sometimes need a little tough love.

Is there any way to move the old WB thread into this new forum?

Anyway, like I said on the old thread, I found the blog useful when I was planning my wedding, because I had a small budget and practically zero DIY skills, and the Weddingbee bloggers are just regular people with regular weddings. Once in a while, one of them would put together a "blogworthy" wedding like something you'd see on Style Me Pretty, but most of the weddings were just normal, which was refreshing. I actually got a lot of ideas from Weddingbee about how much booze to buy, and how to print my invitations at home, and some other useful shit.

The annoying thing about the blog is that what is supposed to happen is that the bloggers blog about planning their wedding, then, when they get their photos, they do recaps. Some of the bloggers never do recaps, which kind of bugged me. I don't need to read 20 blog posts about your wedding day, but at least throw a few pics up to show us how it turned out. Then there are others who put off their recaps for a year or more, then they show up all "Hi! Remember me?" and nobody gives a shit. Or they break their  My favorite bloggers were the ones who did a handful of recaps as soon as they got their photos back and then signed off.

Some of the bloggers come back every year to announce their anniversary. Who gives a f**k? But all in all, I found the blog reasonably helpful.

The boards, on the other hand, are a gigantic clusterf**k of crazy. I think I only participated once or twice, but I used to lurk all the time. The waiting boards are the worst, of course. But there's other insanity as well. I'd see posts on there all the time where brides would complain about shit like "I asked my future mother-in-law to wear a royal blue dress, but she bought a cobalt blue dress. SHE IS GOING TO RUIN MY WEDDING."

I got married this past summer. I scanned through Weddingbee one time, closed the site and never looked back. I HATE bridezillas. If you can't have fun planning your wedding you shouldn't get married.

The difference between WeddingBee and the Knot is that weddingbee thinks they're sunshine and light, and the knot/nest/bump are so real! so aspirational! biotches.

I say that with love.

That is absolutely the truth.

Yes, this. I used to post frequently/was a regular at certain TN boards (was more of a lurker at TK) and also lurked/posted a handful at times at WB. Snark is totally cool at TK/TN/TB (well, on a few of the boards and so on at leadt and it was commo to bring drama posts back to other boards to snark like hell at, such as to tell crazy bridezilla she was being crazy). And there was lots of crazy around there (TB was often great for craziness as well). If one does that at WB they will find themselves banned. It really is all puppies and rainbows.

WB posters are all on board in supporting the delusional (like on the Waiting boards). The "realists" on WB seem few and far in between and often posters would get all butthurt if someone did not tell them "yeah, sure your BF who is cheating on you lurves you! You should stay together, I bet you he asks you to marry him *squeal*" On TK/TN it is more like "f**k that noise. DTMFA!"

Both have a lot of drama and crazy though!

Yes same here! I found it via another thread on GOMI and the waiting board is such a train wreck. It astonishes me how pro-ultimatum so many of the posters are on there. Because those always work out so well.

So lately there's been a bunch of drama over at weddingbee relating to a poster who was lying about the death of her daughter.  I missed most of the drama and there's been a lot of bahleetion but as far as I'm aware she was caught in her lies and it eventually came out that the woman was actually convicted of murdering her daughter:

http://www.canadiancrc.com/newspaper_articles/Toronto_Sun_Mother_Partied_Left_baby_to_die_29SEP04.aspx

When this came out Mods went around deleting posts where she had lied ostensibly to protect her privacy and other posters went batshit.

Hopefully someone else knows a bit more about the situation. I only know what I pieced together from these threads:
