my dress has sleeves and we have foil pressed invites lol chair but our wedding is very 'us' and I'm not spending time on useless details that i know no one cares about.

a friend of a friend had a wedding and the entire bridal party(about 10 bridesmaids and 10 groomsmen) did a choreographed TEN minute dance… and they all then proceeded to spam Facebook and instagram trying to get noticed. it was so desperate and tacky especially because the dancing was terrible dead

Yeah, you can only do that if you're Lin-Manuel Miranda. Otherwise, no way.

Disclaimer: my boyfriend and I are against pretty much all things weddings. So imagine my excitement when I found this thread.

Here are a few of my biggest peeves about weddings:

- asking your bridal party to spend so much of their money on you

- engagement photos. I hate how staged they are. I hate how the photos always seem to be that the bride is posing and the groom is admiring her beauty. Like, great that you think she's beautiful, but it's not just her day.

- ALL of the cheesy extras like the garter toss, bouquet toss, candle lighting ceremony, etc.

- a girl I know recently had a "hipster themed" wedding. Like what?

- flower crowns will be the death of us all.

- omg! those TACKY bridal party pictures with dresses stuck in undies. just why?

- incorporating too much pinterest into the day

- "bridesmaids" (the movie) posed pictures

- people on their third marriage having a full blown ceremony.

- trash the dress

- the groom and groomsmen wearing jeans to the wedding

- unnatural settings like barns (why do you want to smell cow poo on "the most romantic day of your life")

So, one of my close friends recently got invited to a friend of her partners wedding. It's a cruise wedding, the cost to her is $1000 for the cruise plus flights and hotels pre and post cruise. The ceremony is happening at dawn on day one before the cruise even leaves port in Sydney so everyone has to be on the ship at 4am for the 645am ceremony. The kicker is though that the cruise is ten days and no one can attend the ceremony unless they're on the cruise so she will essentially be with them for their honeymoon too.

It seems like a brilliant way to get your guests to a) pay for your damn wedding and b) babysit the kids on your honeymoon.

^ What a weird idea. That sounds like no fun for anyone including the bride and groom.

Oh and someone mentioned not liking engagement photos…I wasnt going to do them by my fiance wanted to. Im SO GLAD we did because after 3 years of dating we maybe have 10 photos together (we arent photo people). Its nice to have some great shots to put on our wedding website and save the dates and things. Plus we both look so good!! We kept the cheese to a minimum. And the photoshoot helped us prepare for the wedding day, since we were SO awkward in front of the camera.

I was initially against engagement photos because they seemed like a waste of money, and my now-husband hates taking pictures. We don't have many pictures of us together, and it makes me a little sad. But as it turned out, our photographer included a free engagement session with our wedding package. As you've said, we liked having the chance to do a "practice run" and overcome some of the awkwardness before the actual wedding day. It was also a good, low-risk way for us to be sure we liked working with our photographer. If we hadn't liked how the engagement photos turned out, we would have had plenty of time to find another photographer before our wedding day.. But I actually love our engagement pictures, and I'm so glad we have them.

I was in a fall wedding recently that had SO MANY DECORATIONS! So. Much. Shit. a trailer full!!  Having to set up and tear down that wedding was the worst.  People don't even notice tiny details so its really a waste of money/time.

Useless Pinterest signs that just have cutesy shit on them. Pick a seat not a side drooldrool
