I want to know who donated $1500! Damn.

Also, as someone who has been diligently budgeting for the past couple years to save up 6 months of expenses, this sort of thing is really irritating. I'm tired of hearing xoJane writers talk about living paycheck to paycheck like it's cute or something. I'm tired of people being irresponsible and then asking for handouts. I have all the sympathy in the world for people who just don't make enough money or have really bad luck for a long time – but not this.

WHAT? How, just HOW did that happen.

I mean, it's nice for her and all that…. but nope.

Nope, I don't have any sympathy, either. Learn how to do a budget, it's not that hard, Marianne. Two grown-ups with a job and no kids? Match your lifestyle to your budget, maybe?

Gosh, now I feel like an a**hole… idontknow

@Constant Vitriolic Abuse–I'm not talking about her savings, and I don't think Lexmister Abbey was either. I'm talking about when the job makes an offer, she should have told them she needed to move a long way (they likely already know, from the address on her resume) and asked for a relocation bonus. Maybe she did and they said no, but somehow I doubt she even asked.

A relocation bonus was exactly what I was talking about. Most companies will already have a dollar figure included in their hiring budget if they're hiring someone and expecting them to move, especially on the short turnaround time that Marianne allegedly faced. I agree that she probably didn't even ask.

I'm wondering if it's somebody who reads GOMI? We're talking about it, and within an hour, somebody donates 1,5k?

It better have been Mark f**king Zuckerberg because damn…$1500 could feed a lot of homeless kids, pay for many life jackets for refugees, etc. I don't like to compare people's neediness but come the f**k on

I originally posted this in the General thread but it belongs here.  From the gofundme page:

Anything raised at this point will continue to go toward addressing the debts (credit card and a small personal loan) that the move has thus far incurred. For example, I am flying to Orlando to help Ed drive the truck and his vehicle to our new home and that plane ticket was charged.

So it turns out that Horizontal Ed can't get himself to an upright position and take the spoons to Marianne in Virginia.  She has to fly back down to hold his hand.  Do they have tow hitches where it's cold?  Instead of letting Marianne go even deeper into debt buying a plane ticket to help your ass, Ed, you dipshit, why don't you tow the f**king car behind the moving truck?  I am but a fragile little woman, not a strapping horizontal man like you, and I managed to do just that, all by myself, with a drive more than twice as long as the one you have to do.

Still dying for the reality show of their Moving Adventure.  They are just beyond hilarious to me.

I thought she kept her job and just moved to another office, and that was a relocation bonus. So sorry so ESL ham. Well, knowing her general ineptitud at life, you're probably right and she didn't ask for such a bonus.

I have just read that she totes NEEDS to fly back to Orlando to help Horizontal Husband to move and…rolleyesrolleyes Those $1,500 come probably from their in-laws, it wouldn't be the first time.

I think it must be from one of their parents. I'm baffled why they would send the money through gofundme, though. Maybe to make a statement?

I'm very confused. Why is she talking like she's the only person involved in the situation who could possibly come up with money to pay for the movers and spoons and gloves? Am i the only one picking up on the distinct "My husband has no jobs/no money" vibe to this? Because if that's the case I could kinda see why she'd do a gofundme. But if he's working and she's still doing this, something is off

Something's off for sure, but it doesn't seem to be that he's unemployed.
