So I was reading that article on Jezebel talking about Prince and this was in the comment section :
I insulted him to his face at a concert. Really small venue event for charity. You were never more than three people away from the stage. The show started two hours late and after standing outside in stilettos waiting to get in the venue, I was not in the mood. I was standing dead center in front of the stage, being seriously pissed, when Prince stopped right in front of me and asked “What’s wrong with you?” I replied “I’m not feeling you.” He blinked, kind of taken aback and the moved on. Five minutes later, two moving mountains, posing as his body guards, parted the crowd and made a bee line towards me. I thought, “Oh, I’m about to be thrown out this piece.” They said to me “We hear you’re not feeling the Artist?” I said “Nope.” They asked me to open my hand. They placed four gold engraved guitars picks in my palm. “Feeling better?” Oh, yeah. Five minutes later, I see what can only be the tour manager pointing my direction, standing with a crowd of crew. He walks out, laughing, asking “We hear you’re not feeling the Artist? Here are passes to the afterparty.” We went to the party and stayed till dawn. I didn’t get to talk to him but he did acknowledge me. The rest of the band kept coming up, saying “Did you really say that to him?” all night.
Good night, Sweet Prince. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
Thought you might find it an interesting snippet.
Oh man. I believe it. Thanks for that!

ETA: I'm seeing a repost of an old article on the homepage. Wow, the comments…..
Hmm…I don't see it on the homepage. Maybe they removed it now?
Yah looks like they took it down. I'm willing to bet cash money that Jane will drop some BS story about how she totally dated Prince on the DL and that half of his songs are about her in this week's Open Thread.

I'm making a big move overseas in the next couple of months, and I've gone from the initial excitement to the worry and dread stage. I'm sure it will pass but have any of you hams moved abroad before? What kind of things did you find helped you settle in and feel at home in a new place?

Cascarrabias, this is a million years after the fact. I hope you're well in your new home! My biggest saving grace when I'd get homesickness was watching TV–find a good VPN service that Netflix/Hulu/whatever haven't blocked. The other thing I love that would always get my mind off things was traveling. If finances and free time allow, see the sights and be a tourist in other towns. If not, be a tourist in the new town you're living in.
Another thing that helped me out when I got my first-winter-holiday-away-from-home blues in December was finally getting my ass to the gym. That was a big part of my life that I never bothered with here, but getting into a more home-y routine was a huge step in making my new home feel like home-home.

On a different and completely unrelated note… anyone else friends with a tumblrina social justice-y type that they just don't understand?
A few months ago this girl I know was trying to crowdsource some moderate amount of money (more than $20, less than $50) for medication, and this month one of her friends is looking for a few donors to "chip in" the same amount of money "long-term" to pay a monthly bill–and she volunteered?!
Or how about you tell your friend "no" and put that "donation" in the bank every month so you have some funds for your OWN emergencies?
((And I find the posting soliciting donations really obnoxious, too. It includes the phrasing, "Remember, this is long term!" LOL, because if you're going to give this girl free money out of nothing but pity/the goodness of your heart, you better not do it once, you have to commit to doing it EVERY month.))
I also STRONGLY suspect this girl makes more money than me, which raises further questions in my mind about where all her money is going.
