So, I thought maybe starting this thread would be smart for everyone who has just joined GOMI and wondering WHY we all dislike YHL so much.

So, Proof of them photoshopping exists in the "YHL Photoshopping" thread, located here: http://gomiblog.com/forums/young-house-love/yhl-photoshopping/ (Note: Photos we had c&p from the blog mysteriously disappeared)

and talk about house #3/lying about owning it for 6 months/doing Claras "big girl room" for nothing more than blog fodder is here:  http://gomiblog.com/forums/young-house-love/young-house-love-3/page-284/

Hopefully people can add lots more…

Hope that helps!

XO WMC.

Thanks, the PS thread was easy to read/get through, but I didn't get some of the stuff about H3 and also what some ppl were basing conspiracies on regarding H3, so I'm off to read that next. I personally do need a thread like this that some other forums turn into stickies/closed threads.

Alice, I tried but I keep getting the sad kitten face that says "Do not be sads but we do not have that page! Perhaps searching will help?". Could just be me because I'm certainly not computer savvy.

"Klara" comes from Klara Kardashian becuase she's so overexposed.  Coined by Shabby Chic Chick here: http://gomiblog.com/forums/young-house-love/young-house-love-3/page-1700/ (and used here and here and here)

I was trying to look at some of the wikis and it would log me out.  I tried to log in via the wiki GOMI page (PP's link) and it wouldn't let me log in… idontknow  But then I would come back to the forums and I was logged in and all is well for snarking.  I could see some of the wikis, but then I would occasionally get a sad kitten.

I'd love to be enlightened on the electrical box situation, if any of you lovely hamcats can point me in the right direction! I never really got what that was all about, since I wasn't reading YHL or GOMI then

I'd like to know when this was as well.  I'm assuming we'd be able to view the post via Wayback Machine, but I don't know what dates to look at…?   I remember reading in the main thread that they hid some live wires or something behind drywall which is more than likely against code (I know it is in my state) and 100% stupid to do even if it isn't against code. others-221

I just found it on Wayback Machine! Not sure if I am allowed to post anything from it though so try this instead. For anyone interested, go to March 24, 2011, post is "Three Months In…". Scroll down to the before and after photos of the living room progress, look under one of the living room photos for the links to posts about the work that had been done so far…you should see a link to a post "Buh-Bye Fans", click on that…is it dated February 16, 2011. Make sure you read the comments!!!!!

Hope I didn't go around the long way explaining that. And if there is a quicker way to just get to that page, please share. I had narrowed the time frame down to around the time that she painted the inside of the light that hung in the living room and then just clicked on dates until I found a recap where the fans were gone. **Take note, much later on they added recessed lighting in there, you can see in that post that the boxes had white plastic electrical covers on there** I do not remember reading about that change. Anyone know if they addressed the change and called themselves out on correcting something that they clearly defended over and over?

Thanks for posting!!  I found it! sani_elephantdance

I know in my state, whenever you do something like that, you have to leave some sort of access to get to the electrical, usually in the form of a "blank" or solid plastic plate/cover. We've read up a lot on code with electrical and plumbing as my huscat and I are in the middle of renovating our master bath.  I know some states are different…more strict or lenient, but I'd definitely say what they did was a big no-no. no-no

Edit:  I see they mentioned pretty much exactly what I said.  I still stand by what I said, and think  what they did is pretty sketchy.

Great!emoticon-animal-018I agree with you. Even though they talk about how it appears (yes, they use that word) to be okay for them to do it that way and go on to say that they will have it checked out by an electrician…they still did it. Why not just wait and get it done the right way to begin with? From the other post with the recessed lighting it was definitely changed down the line. Maybe they mentioned correcting it, maybe they wrote a post about correcting it, with their track record it is doubtful they ever mentioned it again. bs
