Is Sew Sew Def so so dead? It went from monthly to every other month, but no November issue, and now she's flitting off to designing (ugly) clothes and her own patterns. Girl might be monetizing her blog but she sure doesnt show much business stick to-it-iveness

If we're voting, mine is for so so dead. I hope anyone who paid for an annual subscription is being made whole. Geez. Why not communication about this?

I was confused because I thought I saw her post several new patterns to Sew Sew Def's IG. She did last month. But, they are all for sale on her 'the' blog and not with the magazine as a download.

Weird. A new sewing magazine is on the scene and it’s pretty dope so she better jump to it! She has her plate full though: Simplicity, Sew It Academy, Blog and now the Mimi G Collection. There hasn’t been any mention on the Nov/Dec issue and I’m very surprised that I haven’t seen any comments inquiring about it.

Anita from Anita by Design posted on her blog that Mimi “has decided to discontinue publication of the online magazine and move forward with other projects” which is an extremely diplomatic way of saying that Mimi has abandoned the magazine. Anita is posting some of her content from the magazine on her blog now, which makes it seem like the magazine is done and dusted.

She really needs to update the mag website (or take it down) so it's clear it's out of publication.

Has anyone tried out the new "Sewn" mag by That Black Chic, or heard anything about it?

And now the latest pattern is on her personal IG and not the mags.  Excellent  clapclap. Wonder if I'll get my subscription money backidontknow

Wow!!! I’m surprised that the internet is not buzzing about the magazine no longer being published. Nothing in the comment sections, unless she’s deleting them. I’m not surprised that this happened, smh. Saw it coming. The only thing that has been long term with her is the blog, YouTube, and the conferences. The conference was her money maker, so I don’t know why she stopped them. She flip flops entirely too much and let’s just say, a lot of people in the sewing community are getting tired of it.

Well, honestly until I read here I forgot about it. Partly because I just started subscribing for the last issue. But, more importantly, I remember the days when Mimi/Myradia would come for your online and in the comments. So, I assume most people don't want the wrath of a million followers.

There have been so many things, right?

  1. Making clothes from her blog
  2. Tutorials from her blog
  3. Selling patterns from her blog
  4. Lifestyle blogger
  5. Tikko and Mimi
  6. Adrienne and Mimi (Stitched 7 or something)
  7. Her talent management company (that included her ex and her current)
  8. Online sewing classes
  9. Conferences
  10. Hot Patterns collab
  11. StyleArc collab
  12. A RTW line from the Myradia days
  13. Current RTW line

Am I missing anything?

I haven't seen the actual magazine yet, but I love the stuff she makes (even though most of it would look ridiculous on me), I'm very attracted by the idea of a sewing magazine focused on non-white creators, and I contributed to her fundraising effort – so I should be receiving a copy one of these days … !

“Yikes! I knew about all the except the talent management. She’s doing entirely too much. The only thing that has been consistent is the blog, the conferences (when she WAS having them), YouTube, and Simplicity. I believe the only reason she has been consistent with Simplicity is probably because of a contract. That’s a big company that’s not here to play games, so she doesn’t really have a choice but to meet those contractual obligations.”
