Interesting… on her live she just said the police told her that when a body is in the water for so long it can naturally create alcohol in the body system. So she thinks the toxicology report could be skewed.

She also said she doesn't think it was a suicide.

I did a quick google search to see if there is any scientific or medical evidence that a body can magically create alcohol in it's system from floating in water for a period of time…. I found nothing. idontknow

The whole situation is very sad but I'm not buying her claim that the toxicology report could be skewed. Didn't they find bottles in his car? Which the family then denied being Paul's? I get that religion is a big thing for Mormons but goodness gracious the whole world is not going to crucify you because your husband drank and smoked some weed before he tragically passed!!

No, but if you drink and smoke you lose your temple recommend and the husband no longer receives his Celestial Kingdom in death soooooo neither does Ashlee nor Poppy. Very real consequences in Ashlee's mind for her and her child.

But I still don't understand why she'd say the police told her that. Any forensic pathologist hams out there that can confirm or deny a body being able to naturally produce alcohol??

ETA: I doubt there would be so much worry about judgement if this case never got the publicity it did. I probably would have never even heard about it had they not posted that initial video which caused a social media shit storm overnight. Yes, she'd still have her personal religious fears concerning her eternal fate but she certainly would not have to take to social media to discuss these findings to her 73 thousand followers had the case remained a local case.

Interesting, I just googled “alcohol naturally occurring in body after death” and the first article that comes up seemed like it was going to confirm this was a thing based on the first few sentences… however it went on to say that determining the amount of alcohol present in a body found in water is difficult because the water dilutes the blood. So… that seems to say his alcohol level was probably much higher than what it would come back as. And no mention of a low amount possibly being naturally occurring. Seems obvious but just wanted to post.

However she DID mention that THC was found and didn’t try to write it off… so maybe she just meant that the amount of alcohol was very low and didn’t make it an obvious case of “he was completely wasted and passed out in the river.”, and generally THC doesn’t cause that sort of thing so that’s why she made no mention of it and said the presence of the alcohol really offered no answers. idontknow

Yeah, hi sorry “strange behavior” when he left was probably due to being drunk and high.

Ok, second article that comes up on google says it is a thing. That it can be caused by bacteria that forms during the decaying process. Considering he was in a shallow normally slow moving creek in the summer months, I’m sure that there was plenty of bacteria present. So, who knows. I guess it’s possible, but I would still bet he was very intoxicated.

That's true, she was pretty frank about the THC. I just found the way she talked about alcohol so odd, like that she didn't believe he could have actually drank. Sadly a report still doesn't provide a full narrative for everyone, because only Paul can provide that. It's all so strange and tragic.

Bahahah are you serious, well you obviously know nothing about the Mormon religion. If you believe this you are an idiot. Yes there are situations where one can lose a temple recommend…. but the part about Ashlee and poppy not getting into heaven because of Paul's actions?!? Seriously?! Thanks for the laugh. no-no

I wish I knew how to post a screenshot on here….but anyways some guy commented under the news article questioning whether they would tell the truth about Paul or give the "happy version".

He wrote that Paul was a "drug addict that beat his wife". And when someone asked how he knew that, he replied knowing them both personally…and having had to get in between the two of them to keep him from hitting her. Said that most of their fights was over his drug use. And that when he went missing, he was asked not to disclose that info, and wanted to give the family time to grieve after he was found.

That's terrible if it's true. I would have never guessed cause her instagram has so many happy photos and stories of them as a family. And here's this guy telling his version, saying he wouldn't shed a tear for Paul.

Edit: and now another person is saying others know about this being true

Sorry but this whole situation while sad has always seemed weird. Ultimately somebody is hurting and that is all that matters now, but from the start seemed sketchy. Glad they got closure.

I was just going to quote a comment that seems to have disappeared, which is a shame because it was very informative.

Anyway, it's all speculation about how drunk or stoned he was, but one way or another we know he was (intentionally or unintentionally) self-destructive and died. Whatever Ashlee needs to believe about how he died to bring her peace, she has come to terms with the ultimate truth, that he is gone and she is responsible for raising Poppy without him. And so far she seems to be doing very well, with a lot of family support.

This whole case has so many twists. I don’t know if I am going to believe one comment though, I thought someone said others were saying the knew this about him but the person was actually stating that if that were true that others should know so why would the police ask that specific man to keep quiet about it.

And if that is true, why on earth would Ashlee post about him the way she has? I get that if your husband suddenly dies under suspicious circumstances it’s going to be a shock whether he was a piece of shit or not… but she is still regularly posting about how great and sweet he was and how much she misses him. Would she really do all that just as a cover to keep her “their life was perfect” image? And why would her mom still be posting about him? As a mom I would be spitting on my son in laws grave if he was known to beat the shit out of her. I get that all the theories out there are weird, but this one seems particularly crazy.

The only thing that makes me wonder is the fact that her close friends didn’t seem super involved in the whole thing while he was missing… I mean I know Hailey Devine made that video and reposted his missing flyer and Rach Parcel posted the flyer as well… but that seemed to be it if I’m not mistaken. That seems like they were more supporting her versus actually trying to find him. If my bestie’s husband was missing and my life revolved around social media I think I would post more than just that. But I suppose that could also be over the cheating allegations. Who knows. This whole thing is such a clusterf**k and I don’t think he will ever get the whole or even majority of the story.
