No, but if you drink and smoke you lose your temple recommend and the husband no longer receives his Celestial Kingdom in death soooooo neither does Ashlee nor Poppy. Very real consequences in Ashlee's mind for her and her child.

Bahahah are you serious, well you obviously know nothing about the Mormon religion. If you believe this you are an idiot. Yes there are situations where one can lose a temple recommend…. but the part about Ashlee and poppy not getting into heaven because of Paul's actions?!? Seriously?! Thanks for the laugh. no-no

Well no one outside your religion truly knows how it works right? What do we know about the celestial kingdom? I’m not 100% sure but I do know that wives are tied to husbands forever and how does that work if the husband was a drug addict?

I always find it weird when mormons pipe up on gomi. I just assumed their religion would be against shit talking people on the internet (which is the entire purpose of gomi)

Comments from the guy who apparently knows them

He could be just one of those people who like to insert themselves into a story. If he really had defended Ashlee from being hit, you'd think he'd be supporting her now, and showing a little respect for the fact that it's too late for her to start accusing her husband of hitting her.

It's one thing getting exasperated at a friend for staying with an abusive husband, it's another thing to mouth off about her when the husband has gone and she's vulnerable for a completely different reason.

Watching her live was heartbreaking .. the emotion is so raw and you can totally tell that she wants to keep being strong and moving on.

I agree. She is very well spoken and eloquent, and her relationship with her mother is beautiful. I couldn’t imagine how difficult it would be to see your daughter go through such heartbreak.

So… anyone else watch the news segment?

According to that:
- The appointment he left for and never made it to was a therapy appointment.
- Ashlee believes Paul died the day he went missing, while detectives believe he was alive for a week after going missing.
-Ashlee confirmed that he smoked weed everyday.
- Ashlee seems to love saying he “WASNT DIAGNOSED” with any mental health issues, however told police the night she filed the report that he “hasn’t been the same since December” and “something is definitely wrong”.
- He told friends he was going to die on the 27th at 2:22.
-He traded his 60k car for a bike from some teenagers at a gas station.
- Police believe the following sightings are legit: July 27th riding a bike near a softball complex in Salt Lake, July 30th he got in to someone’s car on the highway and asked for water then got out, and August 3rd crossing the street on foot in Salt Lake.
- It ended with Ashlee saying how blessed they were to find his body.

So, basically I’ve lost all respect for Ashlee. This guy was CLEARLY dealing with obvious mental health issues for SEVEN MONTHS, and no one helped him?! He was going to a therapy appointment ALONE on the day he told everyone he was going to die?!

f**k these people and the perfect world they think they live in. Poor Paul.

No, GOMI is perfect for Mormons, especially UT ones. Casting judgement on everyone else is like the state sport here.

Wow, that's a pretty disturbing timeline. It explains why the car was a bit of a red herring for the family if he traded it for a bike. Those teenagers must have been over the moon! Some crazy guy gives them a car in return for their bike, they have a bit of a joy ride and then dump the car.

I agree that he should never have been expected to front up to a therapy session on his own in that state.

Just watched the segment and yeah, this guy should have never been on his own the day he disappeared. It definitely seems there was denial about mental health issues, or at least making them public to those around Paul so he could be monitored and get more help. Ashlee said in her Insta live that had he been diagnosed with something she would have been an advocate for it, but after hearing the details of the police report her words sound like a bunch of shoulda, woulda, coulda. If I were her i'd feel a ton of guilt, but that could just be me.

Anyone else see the link to the full interview with Ashlee? Someone posted it on FB and I watched about 5 minutes of it (it was 9 minutes long) and then when I went back to finish it the link was gone and google isn’t pulling it up.

However I watched it long enough to hear that Ashlee now claims that on the day he left there was no indication that anything was wrong or that he was upset and/or angry. Which goes against everything they’ve said up until this point. I guess it doesn’t fit her perfect life narrative to admit that this 100% could’ve been prevented. But it was easier to just shrug her shoulders and continuing planning her next winter wonderland photo shoot instead of drive her suffering husband to his therapy appointment. With the state of mind it appears he was in, they’re incredibly lucky that no one else was hurt or killed.

ETA: Two thing I meant to say in my recap of the news segment, according to them the missing persons report is FIFTY PAGES LONG. And also the FBI is apparently involved in the case now.

Some of you guys are taking Paul's accountability and giving it all to her. Paul was a grown man and they were having martial issues. It very well could've been that the therapy (which would've led to an official diagnosis) was her ultimatum and he pushed back enough to say "Fine but I'm going alone" I think she's been really up front that they did not have a perfect life. Moreso than most people would be willing to put out to thousands of strangers. I believe her about the mental illness but more so because she was naive. I mean for a lot of women PPD is still hard to recognize without a professional pointing out that those behaviors or thoughts aren't normal. I totally believe Ashlee and their families could've genuinely believed that he was just struggling with being a new dad and their marital problems as well as whatever the monster was that she referred to in the blog post. Mental illnesses are still hard to recognize since it's been only recently that it's even acceptable to talk about it publicly.

Also, it's never been the narrative that Paul was a danger to anyone. To say that they're lucky nobody else was hurt or killed is so dramatic. There was never any indication that he had rage issues or could hurt someone, besides himself with an overdose. Plenty of people are moving about in extreme states of personal distress or in the grips of addiction and the majority aren't a danger to anyone but themselves. Saying otherwise bolsters the idea that people with a mental illness are dangerous to the public and they're just not.
