CCK's commenters bug the heck out of me like none other.

On her "Peanut Butter Pretzel Bars" post yesterday, someone actually asked if she could leave out ALL the sugar.

So um basically the commenter wants to eat a bar of flour? That sounds… good???

Also, is anyone still facebook friends with CCK's personal page (not chocolate-covered katie page)? I just checked, and now I am un-friended!

I'm sorry, but…

Is anyone else sick of J's embarrassing "it's photoshopped hair!" conspiracy theories all the time?

Come on, J, what are you saying, that she deliberately WANTED her hair to stick up on end? Why exactly would someone do that?

Why can't you accept the much more rational explanation that hair frizzes up on rainy days? I am all for snarking on the big bloggers, but when you start with these ridiculous conspiracy theories, you start to make THEM sound like the intelligent ones 🙁

omg – katie is sharing with us a BEHIND THE SCENES look at her life is a full-time blogger.

while i know that full time blogging -and recipe developement- is an absolute "job" for many- i'm sorry… but katie makes it sound like a COMPLETE JOKE. she auctully makes the full-time blogging gig look like LESS of a job by detailing her "oh so busy" day! she works so "hard!"

no, really – her days are literally very similar to my saturday- the only day of the week i have off in between my two part time jobs, part time blogging "hobby" and full time school schedule. yes, katie – cramming exercise, cooking, recipe development, long walks, errands, lots of cleaning in before social time is what i do on a day OFF. she is such a joke. i really do wonder if she is real.

and… do you think she really has friends? sort of hard to imagine. me, i picture her talking to an earless chocolate bunny as she debates what sort of ED-friendly recipe she can concoct (with it being TOO sweet!). auctully, i wonder if the earless chocolate bunny is the one that takes the oh-so-scary photographs of her too…

i think she has some sort of church group. that's the only way i can imagine all these "friends" — not to mention all these "parties" she goes to where people rave over her chocolate-chip hummus or whatever. sounds churchy or imaginary, and i sort of doubt it's imaginary.

Chocolate-Covered Katie: Behind the Scenes

Normally, the main subjects of my posts are the recipes.

I’m actually somewhat shy and don’t like a lot of attention on myself.

But many people have asked what I do as a full-time blogger.

I do not just sit around and eat cookies all day. (Too bad, ‘cause that would be fun.) I work really hard! So today’s post is going to be a little different from the normal recipe posts.

A Day in the Life:

I wake up naturally around 5am, amble downstairs, and start replying to a massive amount of emails, comments, facebook messages, and tweets. If it’s a running day, I’ll eat pre-run snack, then and answer more questions while waiting for the food to digest. [Insert run here: a little over an hour]

Upon returning, I quickly check the computer again, then eat a real breakfast.

Yesterday’s breakfast was this: 5-Minute Chocolate Oatmeal.

With breakfast done, I go back over to the computer, this time to ensure the day’s post published as scheduled. I work on writing new posts for about an hour and a half, taking mini breaks to measure dry ingredients, get one or two things started on the stove or oven, and cook something else in the microwave. (I’ve become a master at multitasking.) Then I run upstairs for a quick shower, after which I do maybe 20-30 more minutes of blogwork (writing posts, editing photos, answering questions) whilst also making lunch.

After lunch, I take Henry and Batman for a walk (unless they’re at my parents’ house, in which case I go by myself). I come back and do a photoshoot or two, since it’ll usually be nice and light out by this time. I also do some taste-testing of whatever recipe experiments were cooked that morning. Yesterday, I tested chocolate peanut butter pie and peach cinnamon coffee cake!

About two hours after lunch I’m usually hungry again, so I’ll have a snack. (Sometimes the day’s experiments have turned out so well that I’ll just eat them for snack.)

Yesterday’s snack was one of my favorites: Fudge Brownie Energy Bars.

Yes, more chocolate.

Then it’s back to the kitchen for more recipe experiments (and washing dishes!). I also continue to check the computer intermittently, answering questions and emails. Y’all ask a lot of questions, which I love because it means people are reading and making the recipes. I do try to answer as many as I possibly can!

Some days I run errands, often with a friend (or my roommie, if she’s off from work) to keep me company. And then it’s dinnertime, which is often followed by hanging out with whatever friends (if any) have found their way over. Our house is quickly becoming the “hang out after work” place, and I take advantage of this by giving out samples of the day’s experiments, asking for honest opinions.

Not all my experiments turn out; it sometimes takes two or three trials before I arrive at a recipe worthy of publishing… or ten in the case of my Ultimate Chocolate Brownies!

Sometimes we’ll watch tv (Gossip Girl, Friends, whatever sports are on), but I always have a notebook in hand to multitask—brainstorming recipe combinations, writing out new posts, making a to-do list, etc. After people leave (or even sometimes when they’re still over), I’ll schedule the next day’s post, continue to tackle the never-ending inbox, eat a nighttime snack—usually more chocolate!—and finally turn off the computer. I don’t take days off, and even if there’s no post for the day I’m still working on all the other components of the site. When it’s time for bed, I rarely have a problem falling asleep.

I know some people (a lot of people?) think blogging isn’t a “real” job, but truthfully it’s no different from saying my job is: photographer, photo-editor, recipe developer, writer, and often (too often!) web technician. It’s definitely never boring!

What a total f**king joke.

And no, I don't think she has friends.  Acquaintances, perhaps, but she seems way too juvenile for other 26 year olds to relate to her…

This.

Thank you!

I use Photoshop every day as my job, and I can guarantee CCK is not using it to fix her hair.

Snark on her all you want, but please don't give her credit for being good enough with photoshop to do the things you say! It just makes us gomi-ers sound dumb and jealous and petty. "Oh her hair is too pretty. It must be photoshopped!"

Please don't make us gomi-ers sound dumb.

While I was on her site, I skimmed her post from yesterday.  Why does she continually try to make healthy food be "naughty"?  It's ridiculous!

She is calling a recipe that contains spelt flour, flax, xylitol, stevia, crushed pineapple, and 1/2 cup coconut milk "coconut cake."  Then she writes, "Yes, coconut cake for breakfast. "  WOW, SETTLE DOWN, KATIE!  SOOOO TOTALLY NAUGHTY!!!

That is not cake in the same way that birthday cake is cake.  It's basically healthy muffins in loaf form.  I honestly cannot believe that grown adults are into her shtick.  "Yes, coconut cake FOR BREAKFAST."  For f**ks sake.

Yeah, Katie's got to cool it with the word 'naughty' or at least find (invent?) a new word; after all, she has boasted many times of her perfect SAT scores, so it should be in her profound repertoire… (Italics a la CCK.)

I actually was browsing her website on the wayback time-machine a few nights ago, and she had quite a few posts, including one from just last year, about how people looking for p–n and the likes came across her site. She acted all surprised in said posts but hello? What do you expect when you use sexual words to describe food…?

Lol, I want to do a 'day in the life' of someone who does not blog for a living – someone who works 3 jobs and an internship. Here was last Friday for me:

- 6 am: Wake up, because I have to get the train to a quick meeting at 11 for my internship (at a publishing house) and have to read and make notes on a ton of manuscripts. Blearily eat yogurt. Was working until gone midnight on a freelance editing job. Keep working on the train.

- 11.00am: Rush from train station to office. There is coffee. Yay. Drink coffee. Discuss jobs for the week. Need to write a feature over the Easter Weekend. Am sent 8-10 manuscripts to read and make comments on. Cry in my head because I still have the editing job to do.

- 12.30: Train gets me to my station. Rush home because I have work at 1.30 sharp and need to eat, change, and walk there. Shove some food in my mouth. Leave for work.

- 1.30: Starbucks! Start on my 6 hour shift, where I make coffee, mop floors, clean toilets, etc etc.

- 7.30: Finish work. Go home via grocery shops.

- 9.00: Catman is making dinner. Yay! I can get on with this darned editing job.

- 1.00am: I hate my life.

- 3.00am: Finish editing job. Have a 9 hour starbucks shift starting in 4 hours. Oh no.

Is anyone else interested in a "day in the life" thread? I know it isn't really HLB related, but I am much more interested in hearing about what y'all do on a typical day than what y'all eat on any given day.

My "day in the life" is pretty dull with a pretty standard 9-5, no kids or pets, etc., but still less leisurely than Katie's.  I can't believe she posted that thinking that it portrayed a blogger's life as being "like any other job."  Ugh.
