Belle Gibson / Healing Belle

Ok… So. This lady Belle Gibson, Instagram 'famous' says she has terminal cancer and is healing/has healed it with eating raw food and lemon juice detox or something like that… Is this lady for real? I mean, obviously not but really. Her whole story stinks and she never gives any detail about her health issues, also, she just seems too healthy looking for someone with a terminal disease, but maybe that's a common thing? Anyhow, if you look her up there are a few articles about her, that are vague and love to say how wonderful she is because she's changing the world or something rolleyes if anyone else knows more or is equally annoyed, let us snark away.

I agree with you on the vague articles. She does go into some detail on her old blog http://bellegibson.blogspot.com but she says she deleted her blog before that. I see she is all about her app now. Not sure what to think about her but she could have been exaggerating her illness, feel bad saying that but it's her fault for not sharing details/proof

Seems like she was legitimate. She just posted a sad update.  Does not look good.

"With frustration and ache in my heart // my beautiful, gamechanging community, it hurts me to find space tonight to let you all know with love and strength that I've been diagnosed with a third and forth cancer.

One is secondary and the other is primary.

I have cancer in my blood, spleen, brain, uterus, and liver. I am hurting."

It's kind of awkward, she was just quoted in an article in one of the Sunday paper magazines (the telegraph, I think) about being part of this new wave of health bloggers.

I feel so sorry for her, I have her app and like heaps of the recipes. Jessica Aisncough is also talking about it on her IG as well

So, her app has been included on the Apple watch. And…

"She also has a book coming out in October, The Whole Pantry, published by Penguin. It includes the personal account of her own journey to wellness and the background to TWP."

In what loopy motherfreakin' universe, I wonder, can a recent manifestation of secondary cancer in one's kidneys be defined as a journey to wellness???

On 29 June 2014, Belle posted a message on FB, Twitter & Instagram telling her followers that she had cancer in her blood, spleen, uterus & liver. There was an outpouring of grief and sympathy from her fans. It sounded like she was saying goodbye.
She then secretely went to the U.S for a month to work with Apple on her App, which now appears on the new Apple watch. We discover this later when we read it in the media.
I have brain cancer and it generally doesn't spread to other parts of the body because of the blood brain barrier. My father had blood cancer and it makes you very ill and your immune system very low and yet somehow Belle is jetsetting around the world and swimming in dirty pools in Bali (check out her FB page). Further, she doesn't seem to be having any treatment for any of the other cancers she's been diagnosed with. I have been observing Belle and I have noticed a lot of inconsistencies in her stories. She says she was in another part of Australia when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Her details are always sketchy when it comes to her cancer.
I am not convinced Belle is telling the truth about her health.

I used to follow Belle and TWP when she first launched. I was interested in some of the recipes, but the life story I didn't care for.

I stopped following her accounts when it became apparent more than a few times that she cannot accept any criticism or even debate on the things she posts. When you post on a public forum you have to accept some discussion and debate. She seems to only tolerate all the butt kissing from all her 'gamechangers'. I and a few others pulled her up on something extremely incorrect she posted about Samsung creating a leather trimmed mobile phone. It wasn't leather but rather a leather like material. She was adamant she had received material from Samsung marketing stating the leather and it wasn't until quite a few comments from people who work for Samsung stated she was unequivocally incorrect did she pull the post. Immediately after doing that she posted another pic with some BS comment about "this is my special space and I invite you all here however being my space it is one you should treat with respect, positivity, blah blah. I do everything I can to educate you all on the things that matter blah blah blah blah" but never once did she even mention she made a mistake. Yet she already had thousands of her followers "disgusted" at Samsung for creating such a product. At least have some balls and integrity and come clean when you're wrong.

I don't buy the illness story either. At least not to the extent she makes it out to be. I'm not saying someone with cancer has to look at death's door but everyone I know with cancer DOES not look as she does nor have the energy to keep up with all the activities she does.

Belle Gibson would do well to note the public backlash Jess Ainscough  - aka the late Wellness Warrior – has received in light of the very public airing of her misrepresentation of her disease.  Ainscough is not around to cop the flak – but Gibson – if she is actually being dishonest about her condition –  will still be around to receive the full brunt.

Hey Janey, I wrote that blog post because you and others here and on other sites inspired me to come out and demand that we get the truth from these stories of people who have been cured or "healed" using fantasy-based medicine.  I feel like I just barely touched the surface, and I hope that you and everyone else will add to the things I saw that gave me pause.

I only found this woman after clicking through some of the stories done about "The Wellness Warrior" and her passing (who i only learned about through gomi about a week ago), and I did find it very strange that after making that one post about the horrible deterioration of her condition, there is not one other mention about her health anytime after that that I found (I wasn't looking too hard, but still. Directly after, there's a "thank you for your well-wishes" post, and then its vegan donuts, salt scrubs, crystals and twee. Something doesn't add up.

So it turns out Belle has not been donating the money she supposedly has been raising for charity: http://www.theage.com.au/digital-life/digital-life-news/charity-money-promised-by-inspirational-health-app-developer-belle-gibson-not-handed-over-20150308-13xgqk.html

Here's a snippet of her dodginess:

"Don't forget – for every app downloaded until this Sunday, your purchase goes straight to The 2h Project and the Bumi Sehat Foundation to prevent maternal and infant deaths," she said on social media during the campaign.

Ms Gibson now says the week-long campaign raised $2800 and that she felt it was not enough to divide between the two organisations. The money, she claimed, was "allocated" to the Bumi Sehat Foundation.

A spokeswoman for the Bumi Sehat Foundation said: "I can say with confidence that we have never received a donation from Belle Gibson".

Yeah, don't forget sponsored cruises to Nouméa as well, just 3 weeks ago. Yet last year…"Her closest friends drew up a roster to sleep beside her when she was at her most ill in mid-2014."

Maybe she really did take that much of a turn for the worse, but recovered. Wouldn't someone who sells "wellness" (whatever tf that is) mention that?

This smells.
