Explain to me what the harm in waiting a bit first is?
A boyfriend can still take on responsibilities of looking after and caring for children and fostering a relationship with the children without the title of "stepdad". It's not unheard of. It also doesnt deserve a cookie.

There's no harm at all.
Just not sure a "term" warrants such vitriol that's all.

WTF. I think you've completely misread the discussion completely because there's no vitriol whatsoever. Can't actually think of anything Abby would do to cop "vitriol", she's not that sort of blogger/insta personality.

Hooo boy this convo is going well…
Some of you are WAY too hung up on this. Let her live her damn life. Clutch your pearls any harder and you might strangle yourself.

And unless you are a trusted member of Abby's inner circle, you don't know how long they have actually been together or the specifics of their relationship.

All I've learned here is that I need to move to Australia because apparently you can give yourself any title you want whether you've earned it or not, and if anyone disagrees with it they are being a mean pearl strangler.

You will address me as HM The Queen of Melbourne from this point, plebes.

How on earth is it considered normal to be with a man for just a few months, have him move in with you and your two children and immediately start referring to him as a step parent?? Okay maybe she didn't specifically say it but she posted a photo of him with her girls, along with a gushing caption about step parents. Which means it was about him.
Essentially by this point she does not Know him. They probably would not have even had their first fight yet. It's creepy if you ask me to be referring to him as a step parent so soon.
And about the nappies. I know only one other mother whose child was still in day time nappies by the age of three. She was a houso with an alcoholic partner and a dependence on meth. So yeah it's lazy for your child to still be in day time nappies by the age of 3.

I mentioned the nappies as well – end of the day, your child is 3 with no obvious reason as to why she needs to be in nappies – it’s pure laziness.

Everyone’s taking the stepdad thing a bit personally – they have a loving and caring father who is still in their lives, she’s been with LR for 5 minutes and already coming out with gushing statements like that? How is it not really confusing for her children?
I don’t agree with it when she’s recently been talking about a child psychologist because Milla hasn’t coped with their seperation well. It’s by no way a reflection on your situation but one I see on her social media feed.

I’ve seen so much more hatred on Sophie Cachia or Single Mummy yet for Abby people seem to get their back up about it? It’s an observation and surely the whole point of this site that we can observe with like minded people.

smiley-signs064 well said.
I'm sure he is a lovely guy and really great with her daughters and if so, good on him for being a decent guy and good on her for finding one. But she has given it no time whatsoever. It's so obvious that she hasn't had a lot of life experience. You absolutely do not know a person in such a short space of time and it has been short. Abby is not the kind of girl who has a boyfriend and keeps quiet about it.
I always feel that people who get offended on a snark site about something someone else says is being defensive because they themselves have done something similar or have those qualities.

This is the part i find most perplexing. People are acting like these girls need a father figure. They HAVE a dad, an involved actual dad, that they see all the time. Is he referring to his girlfriend as their 'stepmum'? Doubtful! Cause you kind of need an actual commitment to gain that title. sfun_deadhorse

To the new girl who thinks it’s mean or not nice for people to be judging abby because we don’t personally know her.. hunny maybe gomi isn’t for you. Abby has one of the tamest/nicest threads. Don’t take things personally, we don’t come here to argue with each other and talk about our personal life. We come here to snark and b**** about these bloggers. So if it’s too mean for you and your taking everything personally maybe just stop commenting.

Wow. I thought this was supposed to be a place for people to have their opinion I think its disappointing that everyone has jumped on someone for having a different opinion.

Do I agree about Leighroy, no I definitely don't but I also don't really care. It will bite Abby in the ass one day.

I don't see her and leighroy living happily ever after and can only hope that when she sees the effect it has on the kids she will learn to be more cautious about who and when she lets people into their lives!

Oh come on, what a ridiculous sweeping generalisation. My son is 3 and still in nappies, kids learn things at different times.

Leighroy and Abby have known each other since school.

Save ronald, get a clue. Kids with disabilites, sensory issues, continence problems etc may still be in nappies at 3 and beyond. Just admit you're a judgemental b**** idontknow

"no obvious reason" must just be laziness yeah? Is autism obvious? What about a physical problem you can't see? Does Abby have to disclose her child's entire health history to everyone to "justify" the nappies? Apparently drool
