Mary Rambin Thinks Your Food Tastes Asian

It’s been a while since we checked in on More Than Mary, the (I guess) lifestyle blog of Mary Rambin. I’m constantly on the fence about ole Mare Mare Beach Hair; she’s rather harmless and not on par with a lot of the offensive deebags we discuss here…but once in a while she will post something that makes me go “what the huh?”

For example, her recent review of a restaurant called “Red Medicine”:

The contemporary and casual Hollywood eatery that’s been open for a year is a chic hot spot where the food is better than the clientele. It’s “not Vietnamase,” they say.  All I know is that it tastes Asian and looks like art to me.

As you know, Asia, or “The Orient” as it was called in 1874, has a distinct cuisine that is easily identifiable and comfortably all lumped together. Rice? Asian. Something in a fried roll? Asian. Crispy noodles from a La Choy can? Asian!

Now I’m sure Mare didn’t mean anything offensive by the statement. But with the internet currently in a mood to jump on anything with even a whiff of cultural insensitivity she could be more careful with her wording. Someone, somewhere, will get offended, Mary!
