Old Joy Possibly Leaving The House That Made Her Popular

Old Joy, one of the top four ‘white walls and babies’ instagram clones (other members include Mama Watters, Amelia, and Burtsbrisplease), announced she and her family are leaving the gram palace that helped shoot her to popularity.

She addressed the move in a series of snapchats yesterday, saying “people are asking where we’re moving, and the truth is we have no idea” before going on to explain that the reason for the move is they “found out while we were on vacation that my husband lost his job”.

Basically we are terrified…we have no idea what the future’s going to hold…

She went on to reveal they are selling her husband’s record collection and added “real life isn’t glamorous, real life is scary…but everything’s gonna be ok”.

The announcement sparked questions over whether the faux prairie mama bubble is bursting, and highlights the shaky reality of a trendy ‘perfect life’ as seen through a gram filter.

Bower Power Purchases A “Crack House”

SO BRAVE

Katie Bower, says y’all a lot, has finally acquired the investment property she’s wanted for a while. Saying “nothing is a done deal right now”, Katie proceeded to post the address and interior photos of the property – despite the fact that the “crack house” is still occupied.

Right now it is used as low-income housing for six different people and that is why these photos show a lot of furniture and clothing and stuff.   They do still live there.  I could explain more detail but honestly, it’s hard for us to even draw up a floor plan because of all the stuff so for now, I will let a few photos do the talking…

Featuring such fun captions as “this used to be a drug dealers bathroom”, the remainder of the post is mostly photos of the interiors. Katie concludes her post by asking readers to “please pray for us” while they “bring on this crazy crack house journey”.

Because obviously the person needing prayers in this scenario is the affluent white woman who will have to *gasp* renovate, not the displaced low income families. Yay gentrification!

Young House Love Buys Another House

Young House Love, house lovers, announced this morning that they are moving to a new spray paint project container:

Yes, this is a seven-years-in-the-making house coup of ours. We would have loved to take you guys on the house hunting adventure with us like last time, but it all happened so fast and before we knew it we were closing on it.

They also made the point – yet again – that their book deal has not made them rich:

This is not “the house the book bought” (we still haven’t hit our royalty point), it’s the house that seven years of saving up and living within our means bought.

What’s this “living within our means” crap? You mean some people don’t fundraise their life choices on the internet, and instead save up and buy what they can afford? That is crazy talk.

In any case, it’s a good move for their blog since a new house means a lot more new content. And maybe I’m feeling a little soft today, but it is nice to see a decent young family achieving their dream. As long as that dream no longer includes wtf paint choices, that is.

Dooce Mommy Blogging Real Estate

Dooce Moving Out Of Stately Dooce Manor

After a mere 6 or so months on the market Stately Dooce Manor has sold.

Last month I sold this house, this beautiful place that I once thought would be the scenery of my future. In about a week I’ll be living elsewhere and the girls and I will continue to make memories there.

Let’s hope her new residence isn’t some terrible downgrade to a 7 bedroom 5 bath house. I’d hate to think of her living in such squalor. But since Dooce says “if the last year and a half of my life has shown me anything it’s that a really beautiful house is not in and of itself happiness,” maybe she’s figured out the ego boosting aspects of owning a mansion don’t really match with the staggering costs of maintaining and unloading such an elephant.

Of course, this move will also provide her with at least a year’s worth of decorating posts as she transitions into a “single mommy blogger”. So hey, double bonus!

Jordan Reid Still Looking At Houses

Jordan Reid, due to pop any second, is headed to the country to look at houses. She and Kenny have been looking at houses for some time, but I guess with little Henry Hudson Valley Tiara on the way within days they are really stepping up the hunt.

I’m just surprised she’s not worried about being so far from the city when she’s supposed to give birth any moment now. But hey, if they can afford to buy a house good for them. Her blog must be super lucrative.
