Since last night the watered down version of livejournal known as tumblr has been informing users that changes to the infrastructure will inconvenience them. At intervals of about 20 minutes, many users are presented with various "maintenance" messages. Probably unrelated: former tumblr CTO Marco is working from home while rumored replacement Matt Langer is in Las Vegas. I guess nobody else is available to fix tumblr?

Monica Bielanko, writer of "The Girl Who" blog, is assessing the damage after part of her rental house caught fire. Thankfully they were home at the time, giving Monica a chance to get some twitter attention: I don't know how people normally deal with a house fire, but I'm guessing standing on the lawn tweeting about it in capslock is not the usual way it's handled.
