Pippit Dies With A Whimper

IMG_8520

Pippit, the ‘social media app’ developed by Mr. Love Taza, his wife, and Oh Joy!, has quietly died. An email sent out to users announced they have ‘discontinued support for the app’.

When we first came together in 2012 to brainstorm ways to bridge the worlds of blogging and social media, we laid the foundation of a new app, Pippit.
Our vision for Pippit has always been to create a beautiful social media platform that highlighted strong blog content with tools for discovering and sharing helpful information as a new framework for social commerce.  We shared the prototype of that vision last summer. With your wonderful support, Pippit was ranked as the #1 paid lifestyle app and #2 App of all paid apps.
Because of our other work, family life and commitments, we have not been able to maintain Pippit and its community at the level that we envisioned. While we have seen great success with the app in many areas, the tech world is new territory for our team and we want to be able to dedicate the appropriate time, energy, and resources needed to carry Pippit to the next level, which we cannot do at this time.
We have discontinued support for the app, but we thank you for your time, energy, suggestions, feedback, and the wonderful support that has come in many forms as we poured ourselves into this new endeavor!
We look forward to seeing you again soon in the online world.
With much gratitude,
Josh Davis, Naomi Davis, and Joy Cho
Co-founders, Pippit
The pippit twitter account has been inactive since November 30, and little to no mention of it has been made by any of the founders for several months. There is no word on whether the app will return.

Love Taza Is Sorry Your Kid Is Dead, But Thankfully She Still Has Her Kids

Naomi, of the Love Taza blog, had a sad, but pretty wonderful, but kind of sad, but really it was great, but also sad, but it made her appreciate her family even more kind of Easter.

my heart already felt a bit heavy from the day. we’d heard news that sweet friends of ours had lost their little one that morning, and i just couldn’t wrap my head around it. my heart felt so broken. i watched eleanor quietly as she brushed her teeth.  she leaned outside the doorway of the bathroom and looked over at me, giving me the biggest thumbs up, as she brushed. and it made me teary eyed…i have these guys. my family. and simple gestures like a thumbs up from my little girl after a long day means something to me. it’s a great reminder of how family makes sense.

Sorry your kid is dead, but what a Happy Easter for me because mine are alive!  Oh hey is it ok if I use your dead kid story for my blog underneath my description of how much I love Easter candy? I’m so blessed!

Love Taza Will Make You Pose With That Dolphin

PERFORM FOR MOMMY

Taza, of the von Derp Family Performers, is taking a break from sponsored food box posts to faff around Hawaii on a sponsored trip to some resort. While there, she shoved her daughter up to a captive dolphin because vacation or no, the show must go on.

I won’t get into my feelings about this sort of thing, but hey, the dolphin got some fish afterwards. So at least someone is getting paid for their performance, right?

Love Taza Wants You To Stop Making Assumptions About Her Fertility

Naomi, mother of 3, is once again subwhining about her silent struggles to conceive. In a post about how she has spent the past 4 years breastfeeding 3 successive babies, Naomi attempts to salve the feelings of any women suffering from infertility by implying she knows their pain.

for example, i’m not one of those lucky ladies who blinks and suddenly is pregnant…when someone starts talking about how “…and then i was pregnant with twins and we weren’t even trying!”…i try to make myself feel better by telling myself, “well naomi, you’re basically a milk maid, so at least you have that!”

When a commenter pointed out that she has, in fact, had 3 children in the past 4 years, so maybe dry crying about infertility is a bit tone deaf, Taza shut her right the buck down.

it seems you are making a lot of assumptions about how long it took us to get pregnant for each of our children and that you are assuming you have all the details about each process for our pregnancies. i’m not trying to insult anyone else who is trying to have a baby (i know firsthand how hurtful women can be to each other). on the contrary, i recognize that women all have their own difficulties and burdens to deal with. your comment is hurtful and insensitive to my own experiences and i wonder about its purpose. i’m very grateful to have been able to have these three babes close together.

This is rather baffling, since the timeline of her births and pregnancies is public record on her blog. Nobody needs to make assumptions – anyone can count out “how long it took” on one hand. But hey, infertility solidarity, sister. I’m sure all those readers who have watched you pop out three while still having none themselves are lining up to rub your back in sympathy for your reproductive struggles.

Love Taza Pop Watch Has Begun

Taza, life for sale, announced a couple of days ago that contractions have begun for her third little cash cow. It’s been radio silence since, and her fangirls are frothing at the mouth for an update on little Edith or Mallory or whatever hipster name they throw on this one.

I’m checking out your profile for about 7 times in one hour! So excited about your third baby!

Randomly checking in after 3 in the morning hoping for a baby update from either @taza or @tiesandfries

Seriously, who gets up at 3am to see if some blogger’s baby was born? Anyway, she was probably born Saturday night or something because there have been zero updates from the Derps, and that’s just not normal. I guess you’ll all need to just clear your week because the announcement of the Most Important Birth In Blogging could come at any time, and you’ll want to write down where you were when you heard the news.

Love Taza Can’t Even Put Their Kids To Sleep Without The Internet

Josh Davis of Love Taza, there could be a ‘trail mix of tears’ joke in here if I wanted to be culturally insensitive, posted today about how he is a great – no, the greatest father ever. Mr. Derp took over the blog to let everyone know he spent last evening telling his daughter she was the snowflakiest snowflake that ever snowflaked. Then suddenly, emotions!

I thought she had fallen asleep, but then I heard her bring her hand up to her face and move it back and forth…I got worried and cracked open the window curtain only to see her eyes wet. “Eleanor, are you OK?” No answer. “Eleanor, were you crying?” She nodded. “Were you crying because you were happy or sad?” “Happy,” she whispered back.

He explained that even though he spent most of his super entrepreneurially employed days giving his children “feedback and coaching”, he feels it important to have special Snowflake Building Time (or whatever parents call it) to let them know how amazeca$h they are. And since the entire family depends on the blog to provide most of their money, though Josh initially felt the moment was “so special I thought to keep it to myself” obviously he had to post about it; because if a blogger parents their children and doesn’t smear it all over the internet, did it really happen?

Ugh, how depressing to be those kids. They can’t even go to bed and decompress without Emperor Derp up in their face yammering about his feels until they cry, and then using it as blog fodder.
