The “Iris Awards” Provides New Way For Bloggers To Circle Jerk

This year's Mom 2.0 Summit introduced the "Iris Awards". According to their website: In Greek Mythology, Iris is the messenger of the gods who linked all humanity with the heavens. She travels with the speed of wind from one end of the world to the other, and into the depths of the sea and the underworld. She is a parent and is associated with communication, messages, and new endeavors. Because equating mommy bloggers with a Greek goddess isn't self-important or anything. Oddly, they forgot to mention Iris also "links the gods to humanity" because you know that's how they see themselves....

Emily Will Use Her Kid For Content Because It’s Easy

Emily Henderson, the official interior designer for professional bloggers, has decided that her formerly mostly design blog will now also heavily feature her baby. Saying her site content is "dictated by the traffic and the comments", Emily gets right to the point of why she has basically turned half mommy blog: Lately I’ve been pushing it with the amount of Charlie posts – its like I knew I was kinda doing too many but unable to stop because they are just so easy and cheap to do...So yes, when i’m exhausted from work and Charlie, and staring at the blank draft...

Babble.com – In Trouble, Or Just A Server Crash?

Babble.com has been offline for quite a while now. Other than claiming a "server outage" as the cause, they have been silent on twitter about the problem. Babble was evidently un-partnered by Disney in early March, but rumors of writer payment issues have been circulating since December. Is this the first sign of possible problems? Or is it just a 48 hour server outage? Update: Minutes after this post went live babble.com came back online with a message that they are "busy adding some exciting new features to the site" and to "please check back later".

CecilyK Would Like You To Find Her A Place To Live

Cecily Kellogg, definitely moving because she just wants to and for no other reason, has put out the call to her fangirls to help her find a house. Saying they are "definitely planning to move at some point in the next six months or so", she then provides a list of requirements: We're looking for rental properties (3 bedroom), and we'd prefer to live in the Clark Park/Cedar Park section of West Philly. However, we're also considering Roxborough/East Falls/Germantown (we'd love Mt. Airy, but it's mostly out of our price range), possibly Brewerytown/Fairmount/Francisville, and even Newbold/South Philly (that's all in...

“Cup Of Jo” Joins The Bathroom Baby Brigade

Joanna Goddard, Shakespeare expert, has apparently decided to keep it 'real' by revealing she too has a Bathroom Baby. We gave Anton his very own room...our second bathroom! (Insert cringing emoji here.) During the day, he shares the nursery with Toby when they're playing, but for naps and bedtime, he cuddles up in his travel crib in the bathroom. We put a pillow between the crib and the toilet and plug in our trusty noise machine. Yes, just like That Wife, Jo has relegated her offspring to a toilet dungeon. But...but...he loves it! Funnily enough, Anton actually seems to like his little space. As soon...

RewardStyle Con Over, Fashion Blogging World Remains Unchanged

Well the RewardStyle Rockstud Rodeo (or 'conference') is over, and as the Plastics hold up airport security lines on their way to Cabo, it's time for the rest of the fashion blogging world to pull out their anonymous claws and discuss the event on message boards. The event itself seems to be a big Behold The Fabulousness of Us party where RewardStyle thanks a bunch of venal, shopping obsessed women for turning other people into frantic trend consumers. So, basically Lucky FABB but with a free trip to Mexico for the Homecoming Queens. Judging by the instagram hashtag stream it's...

Young House Love Is Just Too Popular Now, Guys

Young House Love, Target junk peddlers, announced today that their blog is just too big now to like, even deal with, dawgs: We’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately: what exactly are our goals? What are we working towards? Hoping to gain? The answer, we realized, was definitely not more blog hits or traffic or approval. Honestly we both feel unsettled by the idea of our blog growing any larger, and we look fondly back on the earlier days when we worked less, slept more, and spent more quality time with our family and friends. Apparently they will now...

Flora And Fauna Pregnancy Confirmed

As suspected on GOMIBLOG 8 weeks ago, Tatiana of Flora and Fauna is pregnant with number two. She made the announcement with her usual overblown blogger language: Every night when we climb in bed papa bear is so anxious about feeling the baby move. I tell him it's too early for him to feel anything yet so he just rubs my blossoming belly instead and asks me how the baby is doing today. I guess "Mama Bear" was waiting until the professional photo shoot was done before announcing what the GOMIBLOG Pregnancy Test already knew. We look forward to seeing...

“American Blogger” Being Released Tomorrow

Casey Wiegand has announced that her husband's stunning cinematography project "American Blogger", also known as "The Movie About The Wiegand's Friends", will now be released tomorrow instead of in June. Originally the plan for the film was that Chris would release the film in June on iTunes only...Because the release of the trailer didn't go anything like what we expected, Chris has decided to release the movie on Wednesday via a different source. Chris Wiegand is also issuing a disclaimer with the movie, which is basically a masterpiece of attempted backpedaling: The way in which these women tell their stories...

Roundup: Here’s Some Things That Don’t Really Require A Full Post

Young House Love had their baby boy Theodore last Wednesday. Of course with their posting lag time, that could mean he came out back in March. Jen Loves Kev are evidently going to start fostering kids with the intent of adopting some. Messica of What I Wore has started complaining about gaining 15 pounds in the past 5 months of pregnancy. I may be wrong, but isn't that what's supposed to happen? The site inspired by The Great XOJane exodus of 2014 is apparently launching today, calling itself The Flounce. Don't feel obligated to check it out - it's basically just...

Kendi Closing Her Storefront

While I was apparently under a rock, Kendi of "Kendi Everyday" announced her three year old store Bloom will be closing its brick and mortar location. We are closing our store front on May 10th. We are not closing our online shop, but we will slow things down so that we can re-evaluate what we really want bloom to become... The building her store was located in has been sold, and Kendi has been unable to find another place to rent nearby. Sometimes you can't control everything; and choices you have to make don't make sense just yet. This is...

CecilyK Moving For Some Reason

In case you missed it Cecily Kellogg, financial adviser, has "begun to plan, seriously, for moving sometime this summer". We know where we want to move – an area of Philly called West Philly/University City – because it’s halfway between my mom’s place and Tori’s school. It will save us tons of commuting time and will also allow us much better access to public transportation if we choose. Not understanding the fixation on access to public transportation since they supposedly have a van, but ok. She then goes on to set up a back story for this totally voluntary move....

“Sunshine Mary” Closing Blog

Sunshine Mary,  anti-feminism hero and rape culture denier, has announced she is leaving the internet. I would like to let readers know that I have reached the very difficult decision to stop writing my blog.  This is a sad and hard post for me to write, but I feel that an explanation ought to be given here. I have been the victim of a vicious (and needless) smear campaign; this is not a problem per se, but my children have been brought into it and their safety and security has been compromised.  As a mother, I cannot continue to write this...

“American Blogger” Movie Takes Blogging Circle Jerk To New Level

Well it seems that "behold the glory of us" project the Wiegands announced last year is finally finished. "American Blogger" now has a trailer up on vimeo and is apparently "coming soon". The trailer claims its "stunning cinematography" will "leave you feeling inspired" by a "movement" that "could change the world". It then features a bunch of bloggers talking about how awesome blogging is, with the usual such brave, much influential self-back patting. One blogger explains it all by saying "If we're keeping it private, why are we experiencing it?" I've said from the start that this entire project just seems...

Mr. “Love Taza” Apparently Now A “Founder”

Josh Davis, aka Mr. Taza, appears to be reinventing himself. Like every other 20-something who watched David Karp happen, Mr. Taza seems to have dreams of becoming some kind of tech company "founder". Thus, "Pippit" exists. From what can be surmised, Pippit is some kind of iPhone app that may or may not basically be Instagram with a reblog feature or some kind of pinterest type app. "Oh Joy" is speculated to be involved somehow, and the Pippit twitter follow list seems to indicate something similar. Just what New York needs - yet another guy trying to be a tech...

The Thinking Housewife Thinks The “Blacks” Ruin Neighborhoods

The Thinking Housewife, where white Christian Americans go to vent their spleen about the horrible non-white non-Christian turn America is taking, just posted a charming rant from "Alan". It seems "Alan" is angry because by golly gee willikers in his day St. Louis was full of white folks, and now those durned "blacks" have come in and ruined it - just like they ruin everything: The degradation by blacks of what once was a peaceful, civilized neighborhood is a law of nature as predictable as day following night...the reason for that is that blacks will make a jungle out of...

Today, after receiving her first ever negative comment, Lisa has posted a response assuring her 39 followers she will not be silenced by haters: I bravely put my life online, bravely accepting money in exchange for my family's privacy. I will not have my courageous sacrifice lessened by a commenter who thinks I need to "click here for breast enlargement". Later, Lisa responded to a comment telling her "much Korea beauty secrets you need, click this" with an all caps rant about the evils of internet anonymity...
