KERF Thanks You For Your Concern

kerfbabypool

KERF, the human equivalent of cream on white chevron, posted yesterday about her awesome family vacation. Unfortunately one pic has caused some raised eyebrows; apparently her 2 year old son is off in the pool by himself while mom and family sit poolside, presumably eating some kind of kale chip and organic sadness nachos.

When a commenter questioned the wisdom of letting a toddler wade around in shoulder deep water alone, she was told ever-so-nicely that eyeballs are as good as arms.

Thank you for the concern, but all three of us were sitting right there watching him. I could have been to him in a split second. I’m also a former lifeguard, so I know what to watch for : )

Come on you concern trolls. Everyone knows it takes like, hours to drown properly. It’s not like a child has ever drowned with someone 3 feet away when they took their attention elsewhere for 2 minutes. You people need to chill out!

Another Blogging Conference Bites The Dust

The healthy living blogger fiesta of fitness known as the Healthy Living Summit has apparently been cancelled:

Sad news, friends: due to some unforeseen circumstances, the 2014 Healthy Living Summit has been canceled.

We’re so sad we’re going to miss out on seeing all of you in one of our all-time favorite cities, Madison, Wisconsin. The Summit is nothing without you, our healthy living blogging community, and we had so been looking forward to bringing you together for a weekend of learning, fun and delicious food.

Many are wondering if this is a sign that ‘healthy living’ blogging is on its way out. The conference was practically required attendance for HLBs from 2010-2013, attracting kale-inati such as Carrots N Cake and KERF; but maybe now that all the ‘big’ HLBs are turning into lifestyle and mommy bloggers there just isn’t enough interest from sponsors or attendees to continue having quinoa proms.

I wonder which conference will be next to throw in the towel?

Clare Will Use Your Child In A Sponsored Instagram

Clare, over at “Fitting It All In”, started a new nanny job this week. Despite the long day she had, she managed to fit in an instagram post featuring one of her charges.

umclareno

In case you’re wondering, that “#ad” hastag denotes exactly what you think it does – Clare used this picture as an instagram ad.

So in case finding a good nanny wasn’t hard enough, I guess now there’s another thing for parents to worry about when hiring childcare – whether their kids will be plastered all over the internet without parental knowledge as part of some sponsor campaign.

Ashley Will Crash Your Race And Take Selfies

The Race Pirate

Ashley Hesseltine, selfie taker, recently decided to copy the selfie stunt of another marathon runner and selfie stunt during a marathon of her own. Of course, she didn’t see the need to pay the race fee just to selfie:

I put it out there on social media–”Anyone have an extra bib number so I can follow in this glorious girl’s footsteps (literally)?”…Aaaaand crickets…So, being the rule breaker I am, I ran it anyway.

With captions like “The ‘Waiting to Start the Race in a Corral You Snuck Into Because You Don’t Have a Bib Number’ Selfie” and “The ‘This Sweaty Shirtless Dude Is About to Rape My Arm With His Arm’ Selfie” Ashley jogged and tongue-thrusted her way through her free race. When other runners began to berate her for hijacking a race she didn’t pay to participate in, Ashley shot back:

And to all the runners who have too much time on their hands and posted ridiculous hate comments below: A) Thanks for the pageviews. B) Please note I tried up until the night before to get a number. I didn’t even know if I would even finish the race–I just wanted to go out there, run on PUBLIC ROADS, show off our beautiful, amazing city, and make an entertaining blog post that was actually enjoyed by quite a few people who ran the race. And C) I’ve run this race two other times and paid for it and I plan to again. If you’re losing sleep over this, tell me where to send the check. I’ll take a selfie with it.  LYLAS.

I’m not a runner (unless the taco truck drives away before I get there) but isn’t it generally considered bad form to pirate races this way? Especially for your own publicity stunts? I assumed they would discourage randoms just showing up to run for free when other people are paying entry fees. Not that Ashley seems to care about such etiquette.

So anyway…I guess by the laws of Supporting Women we are all now supposed to say “you go girl, race for you”?

Healthy Ashley Would Like To Show You Her Placenta

DINNER IS SERVED

Healthy Ashley is apparently not content with simply live-instagramming her birth – she’s now live-instagramming her afterbirth.

Asking the internets whether “wearing an apron” would “make cooking my placenta seem more mainstream”, commenters responded with the usual head pats and talk about placenta smoothies, and CaitlinHTP chimed in to add “I hope all the people disgusted by this don’t eat meat”.

Can someone explain to me why the world needs to see someone cooking an expelled organ? Why is this a thing?

Hungry Runner Girl Files For Divorce

Janae, of Hungry Runner Girl, has filed for divorce from her husband. Speculation began when it was noticed she was last seen wearing her ring on July 29th. The divorce petition was filed just two days later.

There has so far been no mention of the situation on Janae’s blog, but on the day of filing she mentioned a sad event:

I ran 8 miles Monday morning (7:45 pace) and the saddest thing happened. My hair tie BROKE.  I had to run with my hair down for a few miles and it was not fun.

Her husband has apparently now deleted all his social media accounts. Mention of her husband has also been removed from her about page. The news has come as a shock to many, since as recently as July 20th she posted about having a family date night.

Bodyrock.tv Guy Claims Ex-Wife Abused Him

Frederick Light, dude who makes those bodyrock workout videos all the HLBs make so much panty pudding over, put up a post yesterday that claims his ex-wife Zuzka Light abused him. Saying that his life “had become a nightmare of abusiveness”, full of “hot cups of coffee in the face, punches and kicks, electrical cord cuts, and numerous affairs” Freddy says he had to leave the marriage:

Just over 21 months ago I returned from LA in this broken state. Aside from family and close friends, very few people know the full story. My relationship was over…The choice for me was to leave then and there or continue to endure the full spectrum of domestic abuse…I knew I had to leave.

He goes on to list “doors slamming, plates smashing, cups being thrown to punches and kicks” as part of the abuse he survived after stating that domestic violence “is so prevalent that if it hasn’t happened to you or a loved one, chances are its happening now to friends or family behind closed doors”.
