Internets I KNOW, but it was just out there, I had to use it. Anyway, with allegations of theft and scamming floating around, the Bernie Madoff of Anthro-blogging has decided to cut off the story at the pass and issued this bizarre “lol sorry”: An Apology My life got overwhelming with some serious family issues and juggling too many things. I should have expressed this, been honest, and not continued to try to personal shop. For this, I truly apologize. You readers have put a lot of faith in me, and you’ve been supportive and honest with me. I ask for nothing in return, other than a chance to say I was wrong, apologize, and I hope to move forward as a better person. I have made right with whom I needed to, but should anyone still have an issue with me, please contact me at berlyb33(at)gmail(dot)com. I will not blog until I’m sure everything has been rectified. Not to be insensitive here, but that’s called life, dude. If you are operating a business offering a service, you deliver on your promises no matter what personal crap is going on. If you can’t, you close out your register and take leave until your life is in order again. What you don’t do is make excuse after excuse and promise after promise and continue accepting customers when you are fairly certain you cannot fulfill your job. It’s nice that you’re sorry, but I don’t think anyone cares about your feelings, honey. They care that they gave you money with faith and trust, expecting you to do what you said you would, and in many cases, you did not. Refund these people with profuse apologies, shutter up your “personal shopping” thing, and let’s all get back to more important things like “Jerseylicious”. GOMIBLOG is currently the scene of a huge scam accusation against some “Anthro-blogger”. The comments on various posts range from flat out claims of fraud to remarks that simple bad business practice doesn’t equal a criminal act: “Oh my god, I can`t believe that she`s pulled this crap with so many other trusting people. I kept giving her the benefit of the doubt, but all of those excuses were used on me, too. She needs to be outed. This is criminal behavior.” “In reading the above, I think she was in it to scam her readers.” “It seems to be a case of negligence and ill-management rather than malicious intent.” I don’t know what is going on here. I don’t follow Anthro-bloggers and I’d never heard of this “custom purchase” thing they do. So what is the story? Who is this person? What is going on and if it’s so heinous why is it being allowed to happen? I’m waiting for answers!
Cary Randolph Fuller Hearst Astoria Guinness Hamptons, knows all about fashion and being a WASP. She also knows about being American, and American fashion! Which brings us to her contribution to the NYFW coverage: Sifting through Fashion Week coverage, I am reminded of how singular the American style is. In spite of its many forms and silhouettes, there is this common thread of exuberance and movement that I see, season after season, that has nothing to do with fashion at all but rather with a collective spirit. The designers may not be conscious of it when creating their collections, but it shines through anyway. American fashion is light; it’s about function and sport and making fast getaways. I look at legends like Ralph, who made a four-inches-wide necktie because he could not find it anywhere else, and Diane—her wrap dress was immediately iconic and so practical and every woman could and still can wear it, and it looks just as modern as it did thirty years ago. Lilly Pulitzer used those citrusy, splashy prints in all of her designs because they covered up juice stains. (Seriously.) The best American fashion seems borne of necessity, wearability. “How to build a house or change a tire while looking and feeling like a million bucks.” All the hundreds of designers—global brands and boutique names alike—and this could be said about every one of them, and that, to me, is what makes American fashion so wonderful. Yet another 7th grade paper about American style just so she can name drop Ralph Lauren. Since Cary’s idea of America is white protestants hanging out in Newport and the Hamps being rich I’m not sure we should take any of her “Americana” fashion advice seriously. Sarah Lacy, size 4 pregnant lady, is now a size 4 postpartum lady. In the midst of OMG FASHION WEEK, Sarah Lacy finally stepped away from her twitter long enough to provide the earth with a human being containing her DNA. Of course she immediately hopped right back on twitter in order to hashtag about TechCrunch crap. I hope this child is ready to be ignored until he founds a tech startup. Poor child. Let’s hope Sarah can stay in the country in long enough spurts to get to know the kid. Running a blog empire and owning a bakery is hard work, you guys! Especially when you purchase your first home WHILE letting your husband run the bakery and going to Body Pump classes. Let’s catch up on the KERFster, as I’m sure her whirlwind schedule has us all in a tizzy! “I left the bakery and headed to the new house for a few appointments. Given my public life, we’re getting a killer security system in the new place. Don’t even try to tap on the window – it’s all covered. It’s a little expensive, but also something we should have gotten 2 houses ago and I don’t think we will regret the piece of mind.” Here we have KERF ensuring everyone knows she’s totally famous. So famous, she has to purchase an expensive security system protecting her from the public life she has posted on the internet in order for that life to be really, REALLY public (and also so people will drop beer off at her bakery just because she is so awesome.). It’s totally annoying when the consequences of your actions lead you to make expensive purchases you can then humblebrag about on the Internet! So tiring! “Matt finished work and joined us, and we said goodbye to Faith and headed to find dinner. I had a Groupon to Brookville, so that’s where we landed. Neither of us wanted a full glass of wine, so we decided to share. They were kind enough to split it for us – with heavy pours!” Exhausted and hungry, KERF then uses a groupon, then asks the restaurant to split a glass of wine that was likely all of $6. KERF then basked in the glow of server/restaurant owner appreciation of her clever idea, and no one AT ALL mocked her at the server station. At the person who split a glass of wine. With a groupon. “And then Matt walked a mile back to the bakery to get his car and I biked home alone! Scary, but this night was so refreshing.” And then there’s her harrowing journey home, on a bike, for four miles. In a terrifyingly midsize town. In the early evening. As someone who cycles thirty miles through South Florida in the late evening, because I have a full time job, may I just say: OMG Kerf, your night sounds Sooooo Awesoooome! I am going to try that wine glass splitting idea next time I go out on a coupon! Seriously, this was her day – part time at bakery, errands at house, meet with friend, go to dinner, SCARY bike ride. We should all be so AWESOME. Jessica Quirk of What I Wore, not invited to be part of the tumblr fashion week coverage, has some advice for people invited to be part of the tumblr fashion week coverage: “I always post the very best coverage I can, as quickly as possible,” she says. “I tweet up a storm before and during the show, and always send a follow-up thank you. When the next season rolls around, I let the PR folks handling the shows know I will be in New York, and if they have the space, I’d be very grateful to attend again. Great relationships are everything!” Messica stressing how important great relationships are is like me telling people how important it is to be nice to people on the internets. Such advice from the woman who routinely raises the bortch flag on the S.S. What I Want is so ridiculous I really don’t know what else I can add about it. Maybe I should just point out that she was not named as part of the tumblr group this season, and for months has had one small nothing ad on her “over a million pageviews a month” blog. Clearly she’s great at building and keeping relationships on her blog when there isn’t some fashion week stuff to lure sponsors with. What’s more amusing than Mrs. I Blog For Me telling bloggers to be grateful while begging for show invites? A woman legendary for posting next to nothing during her trips to New York, fashion week time or otherwise, telling people she posts “the very best coverage” as “quickly as possible”. Maybe now with expectations so high – her book is out, and she has to prove she doesn’t need tumblr’s backing – she will finally raise the bar a bit and start doing actual coverage. tumblr and their lawyers successfully shut down the beloved plugin “Missing e” for TOS violation once before. Now the creator of the plugin has made changes to bring it into compliance. But nevermind, says tumblr: they do not want the plugin, which brings many needed and requested changes to the user’s hands, to be used by anyone, ever. They interpret the Tumblr API License Agreement in such a way as it continues to apply to Missing e. I disagree with their interpretation of this agreement as the preface clearly states: By building applications that interact with Tumblr’s products and services (the “Tumblr Services”) or using the Tumblr API, including but not limited to requesting authentication credentials or making calls to the Tumblr API, Licensee unconditionally consents and agrees to be bound by and a party to this Agreement. Missing e only affects how your browser displays Tumblr content once it has already been loaded. It does not, itself, interact with Tumblr Services or the API, only providing a way for you to do so yourself. They informed me that they consulted their legal counsel, who feels comfortable interpreting the license agreement in the way that they have stated. I have requested information on those grounds, but do not believe much will come of it. I believe that Tumblr has no desire to clarify their position. That’s their prerogative, I’m sure. And if the creator of the plugin won’t comply and destroy his plugin, they will make sure he disappears: Whether or not I have grounds to justly disagree with them on this, the fact remains that under theTumblr Terms of Service, they are well within their rights to delete my Tumblr blogs as a punitive action should I continue to distribute the extension. They have informed me that this is the course of action they will take should I not acquiesce to their demands. Let’s get down to what this is really about; tumblr is in the midst of chasing down 100 million dollars in free money from investors. They can’t have some upstart coder providing users with functionality they want, when in the last 4 years and 40 million dollars the best they have managed to add is “tumblr en espanol”. Basically Jeremy is making them look like the useless money vacuums they are and they don’t want potential investors asking them why THEY hadn’t already implemented these features themselves. This is about Jeremy embarrassing tumblr, and their egos and future funding are at stake. Damn right they are going to use extortion to get their way. Good luck, Jeremy!
Anthroholic Issues…Anthro-pology
I want to take a minute to apologize. I messed up and I owe it to my readers to apologize. As you may recall, I used to run a Personal Shopping Service on this blog. I am not going to make excuses, but I really dropped the ball and screwed things up with some of the girls who hired me for this service.
