Internets Meghan McCain, plus size advocate, is putting her people skills to work. She is currently in Denver and was happily eating room service when some TOTAL JERK dared to ask her a question about a TOPIC!!! chrisgeidner : So, @McCainBlogette, will you tell @ColoradoSkiUSA your position on the #DADT amendment passed by the House in May? about 11 hours ago via Twitter for iPhone in reply to McCainBlogette Um…excuse you? Megatits does not need to answer that. She already addressed it ok? @chrisgeidner have you thought to google me? I have written columns and spoke publicly about my support for repealing #DADT, seriously dude. about 11 hours ago via web in reply to chrisgeidner GAWRSH. You lazy f*$ks! How dare you try to engage and interact with Megatits while she is EATING? Christ. Don’t you know how to use the google? Now look what you started you big ding dong: Pellucidation : @chrisgeidner Clearly, she still supports DADT anddisagrees with her dad. Casting aspersions at her only earned you an irritated reply. about 10 hours ago via web in reply to chrisgeidner chrisgeidner : @Pellucidation “Clearly.” Um … yeah. Pundit refuses to comment on a current issue? U pt to something written b4 current issue existed? about 10 hours ago via Twitter for iPhone in reply to Pellucidation Suddenly Megatits is the center of a twitter slapfight. All her dreams have come true! Now, if someone can please call her fat, make a blonde joke, and tell her she’s not Republican enough, she can have all her soapboxing done in time for dinner! Seriously though, that was pretty bortchy there Megatits. You are supposedly a political pundit, you should expect to get asked the same questions over and over – sometimes by people you don’t like. If you are going to do this for a living then learn how to be patient, gracious, and lucid in your responses no matter how tired you are or how low your blood sugar is. I would think you’d know that growing up as a politician’s kid. In the first documented case of dividing by zero, GOMIBLOG is posting two back to back wtf’s about David Karp. Since you have nothing going on in your life, you no doubt remember that after tumblr got their latest round of funding David Karp and his omg totally chio girlfriend Rachel traipsed off to Japan – I assume for their one year anniversary, her birthday, or just because they wanted to. Upon their return they felt they deserved another gift to David and Rachel: a completely redecorated apartment. Well apparently their new furnie (furnie for furniture…that’s how the cool kids talk now) arrived intact and it’s time to show you venture capitol idiots what your money went for. Presenting a little subtle bragging: Aw, someone left a gift on our new table 🙂 I love how these people try to be cutesy when they’re rubbing their lifestyle in your plebe face. What’s with the posing? Why not just come out and say “Check it bidges, this is what 8 bazillion dollars worth of furniture looks like, peace out losers” instead of something like “Aw look how cute our $90000000 couch is!” Or better yet just be a little more discreet about it. It’s great that you two are nesting in preparation for your engagement party but come on dudes. You kind of look like assholes flaunting your new money. We get it, you’re a high school dropout millionaire. Now take a break from wiping your ass with hundreds.
Top secret superspy Rolls Royce Revenge attended the Tardsandtaints Ball last night. So….how was it? Meh. So I attended. It really wasn’t any worse than any party at Marquee. Marquee, for those not in New York, is a nightclub designed to remind you why you stopped going to nightclubs: too-low lighting, too-loud music, trashy decor, small, cramped rooms, uncomfortable seating, expensive service and tacky drinks. It’s normally filled up with post-Thursday-Chelsea-art-gallery-crawl escapees, entry-level account executives for toilet paper PR firms and girls from Hoboken who wish they were someplace else. If you told me the Webuturd crowd was actually the UBS Junior Staff Sex & The City 2-Themed Post-Memorial Day Weekend Barbecue Blowout! — I would have had no trouble believing you. It was like any other room full of young people who don’t dress up very frequently and feel a bit uncomfortable when they do so. The following notes: Blakeley has gained a couple of pounds and actually looks better for it. He towers over the new girlfriend, who is tiny! And cute! Tiny! But not so cute! is Julia Allison, who I would not have recognized at all if she had not been pointed out to me. Jesus. She really looks unwell. She was, however, wearing what appeared, from where I was standing halfway across the room, to be a rather nice silver-gray dress, which was ironic as half the girls were decked out in lipstick-hot-pink horrors (possibly intended satirically). Karp is much better looking without the crazy eyes. Rachel looks perfectly lovely in person and was not wearing the ugly glasses. Knock it off with the goofball facial expressions/get yourselves some contact lenses, kids. It ain’t a crime to be good-lookin’. The Hipster Grifter seemed engaged, vivacious and to to be enjoying herself. I wouldn’t trust her any further than I could very gently nudge her, but I see why people would (initially) find her attractive. And that’s all folks. My date, who was a sweetie for agreeing to go at all, was not feeling well, so we left after about an hour or so. Possibly they all turned into raving lunatics the minute we set foot outside but I rather doubt it. I found myself actually feeling a bit sorry for Blakeley, who so obviously wants to be one of The Cool Kids. I “hang out” with The Cool Kids and trust me–they suck just as much, just in a different direction. My date’s comment: “This isn’t as obnoxious as those things you usually go to–full of people so fashionable they are not even there” is reprinted here for what it’s worth. Which reminds me: Where the hole where you, DEVORAH ROSE, DEVORAH ROSE, DEVORAH ROSE? What a magical night. At the after party Richard Blakeley sang “Love Shack”, featuring the Hipster Grifter in the backup vocals. We reserve comment on THAT “ironic” stunt. Gaby Darbyshire, COO of Gawker Media (above), allegedly sent out an internal memo last week to Gawker staff regarding Richard Blakeley’s sentence. With the Webutante Ball tomorrow head honchos no doubt wanted to quell any possibility of drama since both Blakeley and booze will be in attendance. What follows is the memo in its entirety: from Gaby Darbyshire <gaby@gawker.com> Some of you are aware that last week Richard Blakeley’s pending criminal case came to a conclusion. It is naturally a sensitive topic and several people have asked what the official company position is on the case, so I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know what’s happened. Richard was accused of assault in September last year by his then girlfriend. An additional charge for breaching a mutual restraining order was added when Richard and the woman in question ended up unexpectedly at the same party. Richard denied the assault charges, but was aware that he had no realistic defence to the contempt of court charge. In order to avoid ending up with a permanent criminal record, Richard thus chose to plead guilty to a lesser charge of harassment, which, once his sentence of protection is served, will result in his no longer having a criminal record. Varied internet speculation and dissection of the facts notwithstanding, as far as the company is concerned, this does not mean that Richard has pled guilty to the assault charges, and we we consider the matter now closed. However, I know how sensitive a topic this is and I want to reassure everyone that we take these matters extremely seriously. Harassment of any sort whatsoever will not be tolerated at this company. If you ever have concerns – about anything of this nature, or simply any general concerns about the working environment here – you should come and see me and I will address the issues promptly. Gaby ****************************************** Gaby Darbyshire C.O.O., Gawker Media This is obviously a volatile topic for many people, and while it’s great that Gawker sent this around internally, they would have been better served to simply make this a public statement and be done with it. At least now we have confirmation that the basics of what this commenter said are true: that “to avoid ending up with a permanent criminal record, Richard thus chose to plead guilty to a lesser charge of harassment, which, once his sentence of protection is served, will result in his no longer having a criminal record.” Everyone have fun at the Webutante Ball! Fire up your twitterumblrs! Internet Week, that glorious time in June when the elite few who have computers and internet access get together and talk about how everyone should use the internet, has begun. If you are reading this then you are obviously very 3r33t and have internets, so you are probably attending this event. We are SO JEALOUS! Now in case you are some plebe with a regular job that doesn’t pay you to attend these events (like the self-important losers who post on GOMIBLOG) let’s look at the totally awesome insidery Crap you won’t be learning: Meghan Asha of Non Society will interview Co-founder and Vice President of Production of Howcast.com, Darlene Liebman about the Future of Online Video. (Translation: Asha wants to know how to attach her flip to a Roomba and livestream the amazing travelling robot video.) Conference featuring female leaders in technology and media. Keynote Speakers: To be announced Panelists: (Translation: Only attractive women allowed, whether or not they have ever seen html in a text editor.) Julia Allison will interview journalist and new media expert Jeff Jarvis LIVE on the broadcast stage! (Translation: Julia Allison will talk about how Julia Allison is changing new media and ask Jeff Jarvis what he thinks of Julia Allison.) Other highlights include how to put google ads on your blog, a “girl geek dinner” (yeah, ooook) and the “launch of the Ford Fiesta” . OMG THIS IS SO FKN INTERTECHY I CAN’T STAND IT. These people will change the internet as you know it! Poundcake, the only female employee at tumblr and don’t you forget it, continues her quest to make sure every single person alive knows that guys find her attractive. Look, I’m sure she’s a fresh faced, adorable, all American girl or whatever, but this business of constantly reminding the internet that some guy hit on her or said she is attractive reeeeeeeeeeeks of insecurity. I know I know, welcome to “lifecasting” and “being real” on the internet. But this isn’t Poundcake writing a moving, poignant account of her self-esteem issues and talking about how she craves the male attention to validate her body image issues or something. It’s just an almost average looking Hostess addict reassuring herself with her twitter. You know, when some random dude tries to hit on me or tell me I’m hot I roll my eyes and move the away from them. I don’t whip out my blackberry and twitter it. Not because I’m a better person than the Breyer’s Inhaler up there, but because nobody cares. Nobody! Nobody cares about your need to validate yourself, Meaghan. Sorry you got fat the last year and need to reassure yourself that you don’t belong under a bridge eating children, but this is an issue you need to address offline. Also, grow your dang hair out already.
