Mommy Blogging WTF Kayla and Checkers, why do some people have children, were supposedly scheduled to get their daughter back May 31st. Many of us looked forward to an update on her blog about whether she had been reunited with her daughter. Unfortunately Kayla’s blog was buhleted and the internet has been a concerny place for the last 5 days, filled with speculation and discussion, and folks trying to figure out where Kayla is. Though it appears she has been doing some posting over at Dear Sunshine there is no definitive answer to the question so many want to know: were Kayla and Checkers awarded full custody of their daughter once more? Or are they still on a visitation schedule while their baby remains in a foster home? What do you think happened, GOMIBLOG? Kristin Timmerman, that blogger over at Project Babies, recently decided to share some of her her political decisions on her personal facebook: No more hesitation. Christ was not ashamed of me while He hung on the cross and died…why should I be ashamed of Him today?Matthew Timmerman and I voted YES to the amendment today. Not because we hate homosexuals, not because we are ignorant rednecks, and not because we didn’t “educate ourselves” on the amendment. When the voting screen asked me if marriage is between one man and one woman, my heart and head both cried out YES! Our Christian faith is explicitly clear on the subjects of marriage and homosexuality (and many other issues). There is no gray area. We believe in loving everyone just as Christ loved us, but we are not interested in rewriting the Bible or His commandments. It doesn’t matter what our opinions are, God gave us rules to live by and when we willfully choose to not follow them, then we deceive ourselves. Your whole life, Christians, is to reflect the truth (yes, the WHOLE truth) found in God’s word. The Bible is inspired, authoritative, and infallible. You believe it ALL or you believe none. As a Christian, marriage is a covenant created by and ordained by God between one man and one woman. Popular or not – this is our vote and we stand by it. *shrug* k, whatever lady. If you want to make your voting choices with a bible in one hand that’s your call. I mean don’t we all vote partially based on our feelings and beliefs? I was kind of “eh, whatever” about this until I started reading the comments. A few people disagreed with Kristin and suddenly she declares Christians are being “suppressed”: ….so far I’ve been called close-minded, judgmental, & a hypocrite. Not because I attacked those that voted against amendment one, but because I explained why we voted FOR IT and encouraged other believers to do the same. It’s funny how the other side promotes “choose love” and “rights for all” yet they don’t want to hear anything Bible-believing Christians have to say and attack their belief system. Who is suppressing who?? I surrender all to my Lord. That includes my political beliefs, my marriage, my children, our work, everything. I will be a “fool” for Christ because He was a fool for me. She cannot be serious with this, right? A white, upper middle class Christian woman who just voted to continue denying basic rights to one of the most maligned groups of humans in America is going to claim she’s being suppressed? If she wants to vote however she wants, fine. But to then put on some defensive butthurt hat and declare: If people want to make assumptions about me or call me names….I gladly accept it for the cause of Christ. You see, I have taken up my cross on this issue and I am HAPPY to deal with the pushback. Consider it pure joy, my friends. …what? Hey lady, it’s cool that you like Jesus and stuff, but his cross is crowded. Stop trying to climb up there with him. Saying “too often, people choose what’s popular and easy over what is right” while waving the banner of your own righteousness just crosses into eyeroll territory. You’re not a martyr, Kristin. You’re just another well off married white lady who is turning her vagina into a salad shooter for babies and going to church. You’re about as suppressed as Detective Stabler interviewing a p**oph**e when nobody’s watching. Get over yourself.
PoopoBrit.com, the innovative website created by Brit Morin, has already given the world an amazing diet plan and yoga mat crafting. With a constant stream of brilliant projects pouring forth you might think they are running out of original ideas. You would think correctly. PoopoBrit has posted a DIY titled “Nuts N’ Nylon Necklaces“: One of our favorite places for creative inspiration is the hardware store, and today we’ll turn a couple inexpensive hardware store basics into bright, bold pieces of softwear. 😉 And what is this incredible necklace? Hex nuts knotted onto nylon. Unfortunately that trend is about a year too late and has already been beaten into the ground by other bloggers again and again and again and again. You can even browse page after page of hex nut necklaces on Etsy. Someone please remind me how people are making a living regurgitating content this way? I mean PoopoBrit is even hiring people. I just want an explanation as to what, exactly, her site is supposed to be contributing to the internet other than a rich wife wanting a vanity make believe job. Because so far PoopoBrit looks like some kind of hipster TeenVogue or something, complete with scented glitter pens and Zooey obsession. Honestly is anyone besides Brit’s friends really looking at that site and thinking that resurrecting tired trends is awesome and you-go-girl worthy? I mean…Brit “Headquarters” can’t possibly think they just stumbled on something amazingly creative with this project…right? Please say I’m right or I will hate the internets for the rest of the day. Nicole Story, business woman, has made it very clear that she does not have an eating disorder. What she does have is a fatty hating disorder. In her latest attempt at literacy, she talks about that Vogue article featuring some mom who told her daughter she couldn’t have any more cake or something. Anyway, Jezebel did some post about it and ole Nicole did not appreciate their angle: Jezebel, a fashion faux pas in its own right, need not throw stones when their writers, especially the one who attempted to ferociously annihilate Ms. Weiss on her daughter’s weight loss success, should truly focus upon losing stones in another context, from the context of their hips! (For my American civilian readers, a stone is a measurement, equivalent to 14 pounds). Fatties have no right to spill hatred unto the successfully skinny. And vice versa. Ok first of all, Nicole, YOU’RE AMERICAN. You’re an American who grew up and was educated IN AMERICA. Please just stop with the affectations, you idiot. Second…”And vice versa”? So…thin women shouldn’t hate on the big girls but it’s ok for Nicole to say – basically any time she doesn’t agree with what some other woman is saying – you must be fat/you should lose weight? Huh? Nicole doesn’t confine such statements to her own blog, either. She spent yesterday over on “Almost Over Now” (another blogger supposedly struggling with ED) informing other commenters that they must be fat and ugly: Later she tried to clarify her statements to another commenter, saying “My point is simply that such ignorance typically lines up with publications like Jezebel – a liberal feminist production, produced by girls who are uglier than sin, fatter, than the average, and the complete opposite of their beautiful voices. My argument is not about fat. My argument is about defending my stance on fat and just stating the obvious that everyone else wants to say.” Um…pretty sure most people who are not gigantic, looks obsessed Crapwits are not concentrating on what a writer looks like since writers are, ya know, writers not fashion models. Can someone please explain to me how this moron gets followers? More importantly, when is she going to GOMIBLOG??? In case you missed it, “The College Conservative” launched 4 months ago. Claiming ‘Our staff is subjected to academic discrimination, blasted by anti-American sentiment, and ridiculed for being “young and naive”‘, the site aims to end discrimination against white middle class college students by assuring them that people just don’t “get” conservatives. Not because they are mostly bigoted privileged jerks – no no, people don’t “get” conservatives because “It’s not that the message is flawed; it just needs the proper packaging.” They just need a snazzy website is all! Like an army of undergrad G. Gordon Liddys, the staff claims they “love America, we speak the truth, and we make no apologies for it.” Of course by “America” they mean a land where politicians are good Christian folks and people don’t date until they are out of high school unless they want to wind up pregnant and divorced. An America where women who are refused birth control coverage by their employers just roll over and take it, while shaming women with more feminist views. An America where guys who look like Rush Limbaugh defend Rush Limbaugh’s choice to call a woman a “slut” for daring to have sex outside of marriage. An America where the only green you should care about is the kind generated by businesses because caring too much about the environment makes you a tree hugger. Hey, more power to them. I honestly thought the site was some offshoot of “The Onion” – I had no idea there was an entire generation of college aged kids who were so eager to go back to 1952 America. Anyway, for all you right wingers that read GOMIBLOG you now have another site to add to your reading list. Let me know what other gems you find, because I couldn’t make it past page 3.
Lifestyle Blogging Mommy Blogging WTF Penolope Trunk, person who claims to be influential, just couldn’t resist fishing for her own pageviews by posting a linkbait aside at Dooce. Apparently Miss Trunk feels she is the world’s authority on divorce because, you know, she went through one, and obviously all divorces and their causes are exactly the same. She feels she knows enough about every person’s circumstances to declare that there is no excuse for divorce – and then blasts Il Dooce in what is surely the entire reason for this uninformed garbage of a post: Heather Armstrong is a great blogger who I have followed for years. But I’m really stuck on the news that she just announced a separation from her husband. Armstrong supports her family with her blog, dooce.com, which is about herself, so of course, I watch her really closely. In her post announcing that she had asked her husband to leave, she said the two common, and delusional things we hear from divorced parents all the time: “I can’t be a good parent if I’m not happy and I’ll never be happy in this marriage.” and “The kids are doing so well. Kids are really resilient.” I’ve heard those things so many times. From parents who are getting a divorce who are full of Crap. The dad who tells everyone he got a divorce because his wife is crazy and then leaves his kids with the mom. Newsflash: if your wife is really crazy, then you are crazy for leaving your kids alone with her. In fact, you are not crazy, you’re willfully negligent. And if your wife is not really crazy then get your butt back to the house and raise your kids like an adult. She then goes on to announce that divorce “reflects mental illness” and “is for dumb people”. And her brilliant advice for women in abusive marriages? ” It takes two people to fight. And there’s great research to show that if you picked an asshole the first time, you’ll pick the same type of asshole the second time. (Which is why divorce rates for second marriages are so much higher than first marriages.) So instead of getting rid of your kids’ parent, figure out why you picked a person like this, and then get good at drawing boundaries.” I don’t know if this woman is just stupid, or is so high on the smell of her own farts that she believes anything she creates in her brain is gold and must be shared. All I do know is, if I want bad advice about marriage I’ll go read Kate Gosselin interviews. Monica Bielanko, writer of “The Girl Who” blog, is assessing the damage after part of her rental house caught fire. Thankfully they were home at the time, giving Monica a chance to get some twitter attention: I don’t know how people normally deal with a house fire, but I’m guessing standing on the lawn tweeting about it in capslock is not the usual way it’s handled. Oh well, at least everyone is safely moved to grandma’s while they look for a new place to live. I guess we can assume her husband was the one who made sure everyone’s survival happened, since Monica was busy with her laptop alerting the internet to the drama. I just love where people put their priorities sometimes.
