Peter Feld Showed Up To Talk About What An Asshole You Are

Peter Feld, who shows up, took to tumblr yesterday to vent his menopausal outrage in a charming post called “Facebook really is a pestilence”. In a post that I couldn’t have shat out better myself, Feldypoo takes on everything from Gawker and hipsters…

Yesterday, they’re misdirecting random users’ private messages, for Gawker to publish for cheap pageviews and tech-hipsters to mock in a staged reading at an East Village bar with the apt name of Heathers. (It’s the “new niceness.”)

…to the fact that FB is turning into Foursquare…

Today, they’re figuring out how you can overshare your precise location at all times with who knows who (they’ll make sure you never quite know).

…to FB’s attempt to make money…

Tomorrow, Facebook Bucks, so you can pay enterprising craplet developers (or so your “friends” can spam you with digital “gifts,” along with a handy button to reciprocate, just as soon as you allow the application access to all the private information on your profile). Yay, for-profit social media!

Oh PeFe. That was beautiful. How about I bring over some Estroven and cheap wine and you can tell me all about the “old niceness”.

Rachel's Boyfriend David Karp Demands You Create A Wiki Page

David Karp, photographer, searched for himself on wiki and discovered no one has created his page yet.

The only two without our own pages

Karp, apparently the founder of tumblr, is probably amazed that no one has taken the time to document his life is stunning detail – after all there is at least 22 years worth of material here, folks.

He shouldn’t be surprised, since there is no page for Alice either. When I searched, I found there is, however, a link to a Spongebob Pirate Joke Book. PIRATES! I WIN AGAIN, KARP.

thatgirlallison Conducting Experiments On The Limits Of Lycra

thatgirlallison, health aware person, defies all known laws of breast physics by running without breaking her nose:

About three weeks ago I started running in the gym in my building.  Amanda had suggested that I could walk for a song, run for a song, etc.  I did that the first couple of times and then I started walking for one song, and running for two.  Now I’m up to running for fifteen minutes at a time.

Eh, that’s cool. At least she’s doing something. I can’t rag on her for trying to be healthy. In fact, I enjoy running myself. I regularly run to the liquor store.

Seriously though, I hope girl has a really good bra.

Sarah Lacy Is The Most Self-Aware Person Ever

Sarah Lacy is being boring lately, so let’s get in our Delorians and take a trip down blogging memory lane – to December 18, 2009!

You probably aren’t aware that Sarah Lacy, silent martyr, has a hard time doing life things like working and not being an insuffereable bore. After all, she is so quiet about her suffering, and never complains.

So it comes as no surprise that Sarah reacts to outside unhappiness by not blogging about it:

It’s the end of the year and my blogging frequency on this site is showing it. A lot of bloggers bortch more the more stressed they get. I just go quiet.

She went on to not complain about all the travel:

I gave myself a week’s break in between three weeks in three different cities in China in October and three weeks in six different cities in India in November. And then gave myself four days between India and two weeks in Chile and Argentina. Didn’t follow that? Yeah, try living it.

And counted her blessings for her continued good health:

My immune system has held up amazingly well all year through some 25 weeks or so spread across nine different trips in six different countries. But it finally succumbed to a stupid cold in Argentina.

Ah memories! Since that typically upbeat Sarah post it has been nothing but victory and positivity from our lil tech insider. In this crazy world where blog editors change with the seasons and the weather makes Jupiter look hospitable, it’s nice to know that we can count on Sarah Lacy to be happy, grateful, and humble. Some things never change!

Foster Kamer Says Goodbye For The 783rd Time

Foster Kamer, Gawker quitter, gave a rather fawning “gee it was swell, great memories, thanks for blah blah” exit interview to Gawker. Because hey, when he wants to come back in 5 months you don’t want posts like this to be your final goodbye, right?

His advice to the poor (probably underpaid) slob taking his job? The commenters are wrong, The Dark Overlord is omnipotent, and the number two thing to have on your side is Adderrall!

Don’t be a pussy. Enjoy yourself. Listen to the commenters. Most of the time they’re wrong, but every now and then you’ll pick up something substantial. Like a copy-edit. If you pretend you’re not receiving Nick’s emails, he knows you’re doing so.

We did however learn that Gawker’s staff maintains high standards of accuracy. Not only do they showcase their on-target of-the-now aim on their website, they carry this skill to all aspects of their office life.

…But did you know the guys in the office always piss on the seat? True story. They had to put up a sign once. The people who are the best at pissing on things don’t even work in editorial, either. Come on, that’s impressive.

At least they are consistent.

There were about 30 other “Did you guys know I’m leaving gawker? Cause I’m leaving gawker” posts, but I don’t feel like going through them. There’s no point. In another year there will be another round of the Kamer rehire/requitfire square dance. Whatever. Good luck dude.

Scobel Wants To Know If You've Heard About Windows 95

Robert Scoble, tech expert and GOMIBLOG fan, is shocked – SHOCKED do you hear? – by the lack of reporters talking about Second Life.

Funny how the tech journalists are almost totally ignoring @secondlife news read them here: http://twitter.com/Scobleizer/tech-news-people 1:23 PM Feb 23rd via web

First of all SL is basically like the Sims, or Foreverquest, or Habbo Hotel. The Crap isn’t new. It’s IRC with avatars. The idea has been floating around since what, 1998? Since the moment people realized they enjoyed anonymous virtual sex online people have been skinning themselves in J-Pop and candy raver pixels and bopping around in online worlds. Maybe I’m just jaded but I don’t see why he is OMG SO EXCITED about this. He’s like…a 50 year old overweight married dude with kids.

Oh. OHHHH. Nevermind.
